Your video is amazing at explaining how to figure out what is needed to cover overhead and still turn a profit. I could have used this video a long, long time ago! Thank you for helping out others to try to get ahead!🙏
I loved it! You can be a good business teacher! I am afraid to start a business but I learned how to print by myself for the last 3 years. I am just scared of going bankrupt!
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it 🙏 I learned how to print by myself also. Starting a business is definitely a scary proposition. No matter how much we plan, things can and will go wrong. But, we can't let fear keep us from achieving our goals. It's always good to have a solid job or source of income to keep you afloat while you build your business. If you ever have any questions or need any advice I'm here to help and or provide guidance to the best of my ability.
Great video again! Man, I want you to be my mentor. You are doing what I am doing yet, more effective. I am struggling with buying conveyor dryer and your videos make me think that I really don't need one for my small operation. Your next video should be "Why You Do "NOT" Need to Buy a Conveyor Dryer As a Beginner for Silk Screen Printing." I think they overcharge for them anyhow. A couple of great flash dryers will do the job for orders of 100 and less. I only have a 4 color 4 station in my small garage. Turn on an audiobook or your favorite TV show or albums, and go to work in the zone for 2-4 hours. Rock it! Just give me a shout out when you make that video for giving you the idea if you would be so kind to, sir. 🙂💡🙂
My man! Thank you so much! I am honored to hear you'd like me to be your mentor 🙏🙏🙏 I'm here for you brother! Anytime you have a question or want some advise just reach out 🤜🤛 I'm happy to share my knowledge! For sure bro, I think you're right... the next video should be why you don't need a conveyor dryer!! Definitely will give you a shout out for the idea!! In all reality we really don't "need" a conveyor dryer unless we're consistently getting orders of 250 or more. Your 4 color 4 station press is perfect! I do the same thing myself... setup the job, put on some comedy and go to work. Sometimes I get deep in the zone and forget to stop for lunch or dinner LOL
Awesome breakdown. Thank you for sharing. I def have oversimplified my pricing compared to you, but I believe that’s because I’m just heat pressing transfers alone from my bedroom and not taking into account many of the factors you do at your advanced level. What I do is take the cost of materials to produce what my customer wants, and then double that to price out my work. I love how you made this video expanding the logic behind making yourself profitable to give me a realistic view of what it truly costs.
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad the video helped you see the pricing from a new perspective. There's definitely many ways to price our work and there isn't a right or wrong way either. The best pricing strategy is the one that works for you and your setup. I have been getting some comments on pricing transfers so definitely will be making a video on how i price my transfers. I appreciate you watching and commenting 🙏
Thank you for the informative video! I’m working on an accounting school project where we have to calculate all the costs and sales for a business idea so this video was very helpful to learn more about how a screen printing business can calculate its costs and how to price!
I'm glad you liked the video and you found value in it. I appreciate you watching 🙏 best of luck in your school project! Let me know if you need help with any more pricing information for your project.
i just watched the video and i have to say it was one of the best and most detailed content i ever seen on RUclips!!! Brother...do online coaching, you've got a skill ma man! thanks for sharing
Man, that definitely makes me feel good! Thank you so much for the compliment. I'm glad you found the video valuable. A few people have asked me about online coaching... I guess I'll have to look into it. Thanks for watching ma' man! 🤜🤛🔥🙏
Absolutely awesome presentation! Huge respect, and thank you for raising us all up with your effort, and for sharing your valuable and hard-earned experience on this video 🙌 👏
Hi Elvira! Thank you so much for watching my video! I appreciate you! Definitely gonna start looking into setting up some online coaching! Thank you so much! 🙏💯👍
Awesome video. I'm about to get into screen printing, but dont have the space, so i'm sinking everything i have and a lot more of what i dont have into leasing a space. I've been estimating to the best of my ability as to how to price things out to make sure i dont starve to death and creditors dont come kicking in my door . This was super informative. Thanks a lot. Got any more tips?
Thank you! I'm glad you found value in my video. I appreciate you watching 🙏 having a grasp on the actual costs is definitely vital for any business. Once you know your numbers everything else falls into place. I wish you tremendous success my friend. Definitely have many more tips I can share. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to guide you in the right direction. 🤜🤛🙏
@thegraffixshack thank you! You're the man! I actually watched this video 2 more times earlier today to help guide me through working out my own expense and pricing spreadsheet. One thing I have been wondering a lot about since I'm starting out and trying to save money and space is, would I be able to cure ink if I flashed it a couple times maybe on a higher temp, or a longer time? Or would I be able to cure using a heat press? I don't want to buy an expensive conveyor right away if I don't absolutely have to
You can definitely cure with both a flash dryer and or a heat press. I personally don't have a conveyor dryer. I cure all my garments with my flash dryer. When i print at events i cure the shirts with my heat press.
I definitely think it still is a good idea to start a silkscreen printing business. DTF is booming right now and it definitely is a tool every screen printer should incorporate into their shop. I use it for short runs of full color images. But, DTF will never beat out screen printing as far as speed and affordability. Another factor is many people prefer the screen print feel over DTF. To sum it all up in my opinion: DTF is a great way to start an apparel printing business and as you grow I would recommend getting a screen printing press since the profit margins for screen printing are higher than DTF. Thank you for watching 👍💯🙏
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! 🙏 hopefully the video provided you with some good info. Which printing machine are you asking about? The screen printing press or the transparency printer?
Good video. "How long have you been screen printing?" "Been screen printing for a long time, unofficially I started 2009, we're in 2023 now..." Are you sitting down? Since 1972.
I was standing but sat down real quick, LOL. Oh wow! Since 1972!? That's amazing! You probably have extensive knowledge and have perfected your craft. I applaud you 👏 thank you so much for watching; I definitely appreciate it 🙏
Hi! Do you have a tier system, as in price per shirt for 1-12 shirts is x amount, 13-24 x amount, etc... Or do you apply the formula to every specific number of shirts ordered? Thanks
Hello! No, i dont have a tier pricing system. I apply the formula to every order. So every order is priced with the formula based on the total number of shirts. Thank you for watching 👍👌🙏
Thanks for watching 🙏 if the job involves multiple colors the pricing strategy is the same. Simply add more time for the additional colors and also for flashing if needed... for example 24 pcs with 3 color print with 2 flashes... you would need to account for setup of 3 screens, 2 flashes and clean-up for 3 screens... so whatever time it takes you to prepare 3 screens plus however much extra time you need to flash 2 times and time for cleaning 3 screens.... so it would look like this: Screen prep time + print time + flash time + clean-up and divide that total by 24pcs.... hopefully this made sense 🙏
Yeah, the government wants their cut! I didn't cover that in the video because everyone has a different tax situation but, definitely need to account for taxes in your pricing as well. Thank you for watching 🙏
This is one of the most informed videos that I have seen in 20 years of research. Thank you!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate it. I'm glad you found my video informative. Thank you for watching 🙏

Thanks for the info! What is the brand and model on your printing machine?
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! 🙏 hopefully the video provided you with some good info. Which printing machine are you asking about? The screen printing press or the transparency printer?
@@thegraffixshack The press
The press is Riley Hopkins 6-color 4-station press

Does anyone have a good link to a free Pricing Calculator?
Ryonet has a good one. You can download it from their website
Sir this machine was high density print ( yes or no)
If you're talking about the press it's a screen printing press. We don't do high density printing.
