Uyo has 10 lane roads, 8 lanes, 6 lanes and all the intra states highways are dual carriage meaning 4 lanes. The network of roads in Uyo is impeccable! You can drive from Ibom in Arochuwku Abia state which is the northern most area of the state to ibeno Beach on the Atlantic Ocean which is the southern most part of the state on well paved roads without a single pothole on roads built by Akwa ibom state government. Not to talk of the 6 lane road that will welcome you from the Victor Attah international airport into the city center which is a masterpiece and the first thing any visitor sees on arriving Uyo. What stands akwa ibom out is that it's not only Uyo that has good road but all the major cities are well connected with well paved roads built by reputable construction companies like julius berger, CCECC etc to stand the test of time and more are being built as we speak.

FOR THOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT OPEN DRAINAGE: Drainage all over the world is a combination of both open and closed drainages. In the US and other western countries their open Drainage are much shallow because of low rainfall, but in Nigeria especially the Niger delta our surface/ open Drainage are much deeper because of the amount of rainfall. Where there is a disconnect in Africa is that whereas in the western cities the open / surface drainages seeps into the closed Drainage. These closed drainages are unavailable in most cities in Nigeria hence the problem of erosion. Uyo happens to be one of the very few cities in Nigeria with the secondary closed drainage that can recieve water fron the open drains. UYO has over 30km of underground pipe jacked drains crisscrossing the city underground built by julius berger. The only other city with underground drainage of that magnitude is Abuja, and Abuja is not the modern pipe jacking technology but box Drainage. The advantages of the pipe jacking system is that it could be connected to waste treatment plants and sewage from the city can be piped into it as well. Uyo is way ahead of other nigerian cities because all the surface drains flows into the underground drainage that leads water away from the city. Uyo underground drains opens into the swamps wetland which takes the water via our rivers to the ocean. I repeat No other city in Nigeria is better equipped. So when Uyo talks about infrastructure some of it is the drainage which is underground that no tourists will see but is super expensive and one of the reason Uyo is the cleanest city in Nigeria
