A Dark Forces Fan plays the Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster | BESWGE #20

Beating and Ranking Every Game in The 8-bit Era of Star Wars Games | BESWGE Season 1 SUPERCUT
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.19 часов назад
This video is a complete compilation of the first season of Beating Every Star Wars Game Ever, which covers the early years of Star Wars games released in the 8-bit era of home consoles, from 1982 to 1991. These are the first RUclips videos I've made and, like the first try of doing anything new, they are not very good in quality. I'd recommend enjoying the video at 2x speed or more. Watch the ...
I Helped Thrawn Destroy Every Enemy of the Empire in TIE Fighter: Enemies of the Empire | BESWGE #19
Просмотров 7714 дней назад
The second of TIE Fighter's expansion packs, Enemies of the Empire, was not actually released for the original game that was distributed on floppy disk. Instead, it came with the game's updated "Collector's CD-ROM" version of the game. It finishes the story in a very satisfying way. Beating Every Star Wars Game Ever (BESWGE) is a "Let's Play" series with the goal of beating every Star Wars game...

BESWGE Gaiden, i guess. | Ewoks and the Dandelion Warriors (MSX) and Ewok Adventure (Atari)
Просмотров 54Месяц назад
Apparently I missed a game, so let's side-story back to beat it! Ewoks and the Dandelion Warriors was released outside of North America for the 8-bit MSX computer system in 1987. It was based on a book of the same name using the characters from the Ewoks cartoon. At least, that's all the information I could find about the game. It's a pretty short shoot-'em-up. Since I'm showcasing low-fidelity...
Sega's Star Wars Arcade Home Console Port (Sega Genesis/Mega Drive 32x) | BESWGE #17
Просмотров 8 тыс.Месяц назад
Star Wars Arcade for the Sega Genesis (aka Mega Drive) 32x add-on is a home console port of Sega's Star Wars Arcade. The graphics and gameplay are better than Atari's arcade Star Wars games from a decade earlier, but there were better games to play on other consoles from the same time. The game doesn't even know what battle it wants to present. The opening crawl says it's an adaptation of Episo...

I didn't like piloting for the Rebellion, so I traded my X-Wing for a TIE Fighter. Defecting to the Empire is the best decision I ever made! Beating the first Star Wars video game - BESWGE #1
Dark Forces stage 1 is a paragon of visual storytelling in this era. That wall section around the plans slowly raising up like a vault door, the understanding that the same Empire that wouldn't consider a fighter to be a threat to the Death Star would also barely bother defending the plans based on the idea that no one would DARE to. I've always felt that Dark Forces is how Operation Skyhook really happened; Rogue One is how the New Republic parents tell the story to their kids. Also I always offer an obligatory "Hi Crix!" whenever his name is mentioned in a Star Wars game. Edit: 12:45 This always bugged me as a kid, but why does the hud say 'Dark Trooper Weapon' as if the rebels have any clue what a dark trooper even is? This could have been a fun little easter egg in the new renderer to replace that with "What the frack is this?!" a la the Unmaker in Doom 64.
1:06:00 "And it was all thanks to the last game being so damn cryptic in what it wanted from me."
Definitely would be interested in such a video, maybe you could work it into a gaiden episode?
I'll have to keep working on it
Hi. You use the force on star wars arcade by not firing in the trench run.
That sounds difficult
i was an Atari kid back in the 80's. i had star war's battle arena & the empire strikes back for the Atari 2600.
Disparages my beloved Missile Boat over and and over and never learns to use SLAM. Sad face. Great videos though!
I know SLAM now but it doesn't really help after the fact 😂

Woohoo! Glad you got to that last cutscene, I knew you would like that part.
I wish Galacta didn't speak during this :/
Same; sadly there isn't a separate volume control for her announcements
@ginger_gaming_channel There needs to be cause her voice is getting really annoying during gameplay
The SubLight Acceleration Motor, abbreviated to SLAM, was an overdrive system that allowed the Missile Boat to double its sublight speed. By drawing energy from the missile boat's laser cannon reserves, SLAM provided a burst of acceleration from the ion engines to enhance the Missile Boat's combat capabilities.
Interesting
@@ginger_gaming_channel Also moot now, but back in the day we would drain our bean weapon energy to nothing so we could put that energy toward other things like keeping shields and weapons a step above 'normal' recharge and not effect speed.
Wow, that's not bad for a 1990s release of Star Wars Game! - looking for the release date
According to Wikipedia, the North American Arcade cabinet released in 1993, while the 32x version released November 21, 1994
@@ginger_gaming_channel Hey, Thanks for the research!
I will never watch your Chanel again you hhjjkkjj
Love hearing about hearing about what people thought the clone wars was before the prequels. I have a similar problem where reading comics is difficult for me but I realized that I do better when I have a physical copy. I need to get into some Star Wars comics. I scrolled through one about Luke's descendent and Darth Talon for reference research but I would never read that comic cause without reading I knew I hated the Luke descendent character and his girlfriend was dressed so... 90-00s. It put me off lol.
On your point about how you feel Disney could have continued the EU into the new stuff. I feel like in some way the writers want to do their own thing and not just be adaptation writers. This is evident even in the new stuff coming out where writers will kinda just ignore things in canon. I had some examples from Skeleton Crew but idk if you've seen it and with the show being so new I don't want to spoil anyone. But yeah I do kinda feel that doing so would limit the writers who want to do their own stories and adaptations always see negativity by original fans. In my opinion it was truly a lose lose situation. Obviously my view is different since I never really knew about the EU until after the Sequels and even than I more focus on Old Republic stuff like the KOTOR games as opposed to the post OT stuff. Star Wars is a mess but it's my mess, weird canon and all.
They absolutely can write their own stories while continuing the EU, they don't need to write adaptations at all. My grievance specifically with the Disney "sequel" trilogy is that it doesn't continue the story in a satisfying way. Skeleton Crew is a perfect example of a great original story. It has some problems but I'm loving it so far.
….
You won
What is this lighting r u on that fps booster
Sadly the game runs like trash without it
That's comedic timing
Very well done as usual.
Thank you!
Also you only give the Disney+ shows a chance is because of me
No, I give them a chance on my own. You just had to convince me to try Ahsoka and Bad Batch season 3.

A fellow fan of the EU I see!!!
Yes, very much!
All the caves reminds me of the NES/Master System game (the one that left Japan) but better realized.
I had this. Loved it back then. Another great one was Stelar Assault for the 32X.
No, it doesn't look like the original arcade game. The original used all wire-frame graphics. Vector graphics I think it was called ?
That was the original arcade game. SEGA made a new arcade game like a decade later, then put it on the console
@@ginger_gaming_channel Ah, no worries. I never owned a SEGA, so not familiar with it. I only played the original arcade game when I was young. Man I feel old !! lol
This is one of those games I was blissfully unaware of at the time and didn't learn of until many years later. I had moved onto Sega Genesis and Turbografx by this point. So while some of my peers were playing this I was playing Bonk's Revenge and Streets Of Rage 1.
I've spent the past week watching this level by level. My God that is brutal. I understand now why it never left Japan.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch the entire thing. Looking back on it I really enjoyed mastering the game, but yeah it was really difficult. Although I only did the "Novice" mission, so technically that was easy mode lol.
The orbs are Dandelion Warriors
That makes sense
@@ginger_gaming_channel After a short time a rainbow bridge can appear over the gaps, but to my knowledge the game is a looping arcade style
thank You for the credit. Greatly appreciated.
That glider game is very ambitious for the atari, i'm legitimately impressed by it! Also i like this idea of the gaiden videos also being a 'How it's going.'
It's cool to see how the arcade games evolve over time in terms of graphics and yet no matter what you're still shooting fireballs
This is cool!!! Digging up history!!!
Ahh…. it’s alright
I used to play this all the time in Jr. High. One of the few 32x games I actually had. Me and my friends would always laugh at Admiral Ackbar. 😂
The way he says "Wipe out enemy fighters!" is great
@ginger_gaming_channel exactly! 😆
I loved the 32x version ❤❤❤
Amazing conversion... I played till death
I worked with one of the programmers of this game
Cool! Do you know any interesting details about the development of this game?
Lol the og starwars arcade game had wire frame graphics
Yep. This one was sort of a remake but not really.
@ginger_gaming_channel it's a good game as far as 32x games go! Doesn't hold a candle to the likes of xwing or tiefighter on a dos pc but as an arcade style game it ticks all the boxes
Wait? What? You can just input a code? I was always told you had to beat the game (or most of it) while also being told it's not as good as the game before it. I never got it for that reason. The only one I like is the original Star Wars Arcade game. The real thing looks better with actual vector graphics. The explosions look cooler too. Played it a month ago at a barcade I went to. That one is fun for short bursts. Play for like 10-15 minutes and you're good. The other two never were as much fun. Return Of The Jedi was cool for a minute when it first came out as you didn't see games like that then, but time has NOT been kind to it since.
Yep, I found the codes on GameFAQs while looking for the easiest way to capture the game footage. If they weren't a bonus included in that game I would've had to find a place with the cabinets.
It is Luke who blows up the first death star bro, he turns off his targeting computer and uses the force.
Yes
Do a barrel roll !
The 32X version wasn't too bad, Back then Star Wars games were hit or miss...If you are indeed playing all of them, there is also the Sega CD game, Star Wars:Rebel Assault. that one was different.
I beat the DOS version of Rebel Assault already, which is the same as the Sega CD version plus an additional level afaik.
Rebel assault is best played on 3do. That's an excellent version
I didn't think the 3DO had an excellent version of anything. I might check it out later.
@@ginger_gaming_channel 3do had countless superior versions of games. Such as road rash, madden and fifa soccer
Interesting. My memory wrote it off as being one of the many less-popular "failed" consoles from back then with inferior ports. It's possible I haven't done enough research lol
For the time, and for a cartridge based game, this was very impressive. Could have been better. As I recall this along with Doom were launch titles that were heavily rushed. So while finished they probably wanted more time to work on this but weren't given it. On a side note, I have to say it amused me that you were trying to figure out the timeline and Lando is what convinced you this took place during Return Of The Jedi all the while ignoring the most obvious part that would have led you to that conclusion: Admiral Akbar! 😆
Rushed game development happens sometimes, but it still sucks. I don't know how I didn't realize the Admiral Ackbar connection 😂
That's why I call BS. I was there in 82 I was over at a friends house we stayed up all night in hopes of beating the game not realizing it was an endless hellscape. You failed before you began.
That sounds terrible. The game is alright if you know it's endless imo
Somebody's entirely too happy to work for the Empire 😂
Imperial rule improves every world it touches
Master System version is so superior. You should play through that version.
Why? Better graphics? Are there new levels?
@@ginger_gaming_channel It's a better game. Graphics and gameplay are improved.
@@ginger_gaming_channel Also none of that silly instant deaths from falling.
That does sound better lol. I'll check it out
@@ginger_gaming_channel Very commonly, the Sega and Nintendo versions were different. It was very common back then until the 64 bit era.
If you like hanging out with Thrawn then you definitely need to play the expansion missions. Plus it adds a ton of new ships to fight against and my favorite fighter in all of Star Wars. Glad you liked TIE Fighter so much.
Ahh, I will do the expansions, then.
Looks like zelda: a link to the past orginal Nintendo. But star wars version!😁
Some tactical advice. 1) Disable the capital ships once the shields are down if you have ion cannons. Then they'll stop shooting at you. 2) You can target the components on capital ships by cycling with "," It is very useful to take out the turrets with torpedoes or missiles before you get close. 3) You have a tendency to waste missiles. If a starfighter is almost destroyed, finish it with cannons, not dual missiles. 4) Those missile launching mines can get really annoying, but if you shoot them with dual or quad cannons you'll often hit the missile as it launches.
Component tracking sounds useful. The game was very lenient on strategy for difficulty.
Glad that you are enjoying one of the best games ever made. I've completed this game a bunch of times, and enjoy it every time, though I never really liked piloting the Assault Gunboat.
The Assault Gunboat killed my pilot in X-Wing a lot, so it was nice to be able to fly one
