Allo! My name is Étienne and I'm a guitarist from Montréal, Canada 📍🇨🇦 ! I have a bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Music. I’ve been teaching music since 2015 and I’m just starting to live as a professional musician. Ma langue maternelle est le français, I'm also fluent in English y casi totalmente fluido en español también.
About teaching: I teach all levels, all styles on the electric and acoustic guitar. Unfortunately, I prefer not to teach classical guitar since it’s not my specialty. In the past, among other things, I've helped students enter CEGEP and university music programs by preparing them for auditions. I also taught as a high school big band educator. I do offer lessons locally in the Montreal area or worldwide via video call.

"Monkish Changes" (A Cheesy Tribute to Thelonious Monk)
Here's a small composition I've wrote for a composition class this semester at the University of Montreal. It's super Monk inspired with a Rhythm Changes B section for the B section (which explains its name!) Quick 2 forms improv in the middle and head out! Hope you enjoy it!

Improvising ala Monk is something else and it’s pretty hard to do if you want my opinion! It makes you play in a totally different way. @@tomblaza Thanks ! Can't tell I've never tried a Loar, but it's better than Epiphone and Ibanez of the same price range in my opinion
Cool that you're playing the full lead on the bridge pickup. Usually have to switch to the neck pickup to prevent shredding my ear off.

2 years ago when I decided to learn jazz guitar, I was walking down Grant street in San Francisco when I got to the corner of Grant and Green(a photo of the street sign is on the cover of Grant’s Street of Dreams album) so that was my clue for a direction and I bought that very album - very melodic, and then I started learning his guitar lines - still working on Jean De Fleur - great stuff

I use the SG through the 5e3 for jazz. Nothing beats a good SG.

I’ve been playing jazz fusion for many many years on my old Les Paul SG. Extraordinary modern sound with the PAF pickups. However, there’s some strange magic with a semi-hollow. The slightly acoustic tone with my Yamaha SA2200 is great, too.

Tone and playing are great. I'm guessing that that there are heavier strings than most rock players would use on the SG, and of course you beautifully dialed in your amp for a jazz sound. Those things have at least as much impact as the style of guitar, probably much more.
