Thank you for watching! Ecoboost Mustang Orientation Kit Parts. Intake Manifold (FR3Z-9424-D). Oil Pan (FR3Z-6675-B). Oil Pickup Tube (LR3Z-6622-A). Coolant Housing (FR3Z-9K556-B). Coolant Housing Gasket (FR3Z-8255-A). Coolant Pipe (FR3Z-8592-D) Focus ST Engine Harness (FU5Z-12A581-AA).
What's wrong with the 6 speed manual mustang transmissions I think there the getrag mt82 or the tremec tr3160 will they not bolt up without the adapter??
The MT82 may work with the 2.0. I know it works with the 2.3.
Sick build…. Thanks for sharing… my son is getting his license in Sept 2024 and he is mustang crazy 😂 I’m building a 2.7 ecoboost Ranger Single dab Step Side bed on 2024 Mustang Wheels and Tires…
Hell yeah! Thank you for watching, and good luck with the ranger build, it sounds like a sick project!
How easy is it to pull the torque out on the 2.3? I would like to maintain roughly the same fuel economy but id like to get around 400ft/lbs of torque. Is that unrealistic?
They are extremely torquey engines, especially with the stock turbo. The 2.3s stock turbo will spool fast enough to make a ton of torque down low. Just have to be careful to not make too much torque at low RPMs, the rods and pistons can't handle the added pressure.
I’m under the impression the 2002 up ranger 2.3 trans bolts up also.
I believe that it does. Same with some of the Mazda trans from the same era.
@@stroupperformance9384 the 6 speed from the last gen Miata’s fits. Not sure they made an ‘02+ b2300, if they did it’s super rare.
Nothing like a V8, and those fenders the problem when you do the back you can't go back
I could always buy a pair of quarter panels and weld them in if I wanted to go back. I probably won't though.
pretty cool🏁🏁🏴☠
Put some blue Loctite on the threads and torque it to spec. Have you scaled the car?
The car weighs right around 2700 lbs.
Source for $600.00-$1,000.00 EcoBoost engines?
LKQ is the best source that I have found. Check my Ecoboost swap 101 video, I list out the year, make and models that you can get the 2.0 Ecoboost from.
Unique build! I like how you used a Ford engine and other components to make a zippy little turbo set up. With how nimble the fox body s are I can imagine this will be a fun car.
All parts on the build are off the shelf parts, either from Ford or some other aftermarket manufacturer. The only things that are custom made is the downpipe, drive shaft, and engine mounts. It's definitely a fun car now, just flashed a 400whp tune on it today.
This is a dream build, eco boost fox/maier wide body💪🏾
Excellent work. I was curious about a swap like this. It could be a real runner! I still love my 5.0 sound, but I wouldn't want to run up on this car on the street! Could be dangerous!
Can't beat the V8 music. But 400whp from a 2.0 mostly makes up for it!
There's a lot of hate on the headlights.. I've got 4 foxes and 3 of the 4 are rocking smoked 1 piece. 😜
I don't get the hate for the one piece lights. I like both styles. On a heavily modified car like this I think the one pieces fit the aesthetic better. Three piece lights look better on a more original looking fox.
@@stroupperformance9384 I agree! 👌
Great info Dalton! I'm about dive deep into doing an Ecoboost engine install into a 93 FD3S Mazda Rx7. I'm tired of the unreliability of the rotary. I'm in Maryland. Where are you located? Wanted to see if I could tap more into your knowledge of these engines.
I'm about an hour north of Pittsburgh. If you want you can message me on Facebook or join the Ecoboost swap Facebook page. Tons of guys with lots of good information in there.
Looks great, and very light weight car. How much does it weigh?
Last time I weighed it, before the fiberglass hood, it was just under 2700 lbs.
Was thinking about doing this in an OBS but no clue how to make that happen
So I have a 95 mustang and I was wanting to do the swap how did you make the 8.8 rear end work
I had my driveshaft shortened by a few inches, and swapped from the stock front yoke to one for a TKX. Depending on your choice of transmission and engine mounts, your driveshaft length will differ slightly.
I just bought an 89 vert and am starting to put a 2.0 ecoboost swap into it. Motor will be a 15 escape and an 04 tko i hope. What transmission does the esslinger adapter fit. Also was wondering how much firewall did you have to cut to fit motor. Also motor mounts i saw you built your own do uou have plans for them?
The esslinger adapter converts to a small block ford bellhousing pattern. Anything that would fit behind a small block ford should bolt right up. I didn't have to cut any of the firewall for my set up, but I did hammer the pinch weld flat where the cowl meets the firewall. I can send you the CAD files for my engine mounts. My mounts are specific to the AJE K member though. I believe they use a different mounting position than the stock K member. I can send them via email if you would like though. stroupperformance@gmail.com
Very cool
I'm sorry if this sounds dumb but... Isn't the Ecoboost exhaust manifold attached to the stock turbo? Did you change the manifold?
No, the exhaust manifold is integrated into the head. The turbo bolts directly to the head. The after market turbo has a small adapter elbow, this allows it to also bolt directly to the head.
Oookey, thank you so much, I'm planning myself to do a swap of an Ecoboost but in my case it's going to be on my Ford Capri mk3...😏😏 All your videos are extremely helpful, thank you so much, is there anything (as some kind of code) that differentiate the first and second generation of Ecoboost? I meant the close deck, I know there is a "solution" on the new open deck blocks but I looking for the first and I can not find any code for it. Thank you so much again, if you are interested, i can show you how my car is going😬
I plan on 2.0 ecoboost swapping my 13’ focus with the mtx75 5 speed trans, do you know if I could bolt the ecoboost header, intake, etc up to my stock block? The intervals won’t be as strong, but I am wondering if my stock block is the same 2.0 na is the 2.0 ecoboost. Thanks for the video and have a good one!
I believe the N/A engines are a bit different. The head has 4 exhaust ports, the Ecoboost has the exhaust manifold integrated into the head and only has one exhaust port. You'd probably be best off buying a used Ecoboost engine and swapping that in. Look up Rebel Devil Customs, they do a bunch of N/A to Ecoboost swaps on the Focus.
Is your 2.0 a gen 1? And what did you do for flywheel and clutch?
Yes it's a gen 1. I used a 0oz balance 157 tooth flywheel and a 26 spline 10.5" clutch for a small block Ford.
What turbo and adapter?
It is a BNR ST71 turbo kit.
I want to do a project like this one day.
I love this project!
Wow you just made me rethink my build ,awsome video,! How do I get those CAD files?
I was thinking about running a 2.0 ecoboost in a 98 Ranger splash 5 speed. This is a great video! Thanks!
I know of a couple people who have put the 2.0 Ecoboost into rangers. It's an awesome swap!
@@stroupperformance9384 im wondering about doing just that. what other info can you lead me in. great video btw. thinking about this swap vs the v8 now.
@@mindtrick714 I would check out Jimmy Lunchmeat's channel. He has done a 2.0 ecoboost swap in his. I can't give much specific info on the ranger swap, as I have not done one. I can only give generic ecoboost swap help/advice.
Can you run an auto trans with the esslinger adapter?
Technically you should be able to run anything that would bolt up to a small block ford. I don't see why an auto trans wouldn't work.
Any chance you could do a video on your suspension setup?
That's a great idea, I'll put it on the list. I have some more suspension changes coming soon too.
@@stroupperformance9384 sweet thanks man! I’ve been looking at the eco swap into my new edge but I’m not sure how much more different/difficult it will be. And maybe a cost break down of the build to get the motor in and running. Thanks again love the build!
The 2.0 has a stronger block however make sure you have the spain block and not the ohio The ohio has a qr code barcode on the valve cover (Open deck) problematic Where as the spain block has a barcode style (Closed deck) what you want
All of the older style single scroll turbo engines are closed deck. The newer twin scroll turbo engines are open deck. But I agree the closed deck is the way to go!
Would be interested in seeing how the engine and transmission mounts were done. I've thought about building a Pinto Restomod with the Mustang 2.3 Ecoboost, think such a build would be a mean ride.
The engine mounts were off the shelf parts. The trans mount is actually for a 5.0. check out my other video, I show what the mounts look like.
This guy's blowing this engine up! “Leaky fuel inject my ass”!!! Hydrolock situation coming soon
3.5 upgrade w/ awd coming???
So I just picked up a 92 Hatch Foxbody. I also have a 2017 GT and I have a spare MT82 laying around, will that bolt up to a 2.0?
Unfortunately the GT and Ecoboost Mustangs have different bellhousings for the MT82 they are not interchangeable. If you can find a MT82 from an Ecoboost mustang, that should bolt right up using all Ecoboost mustang flywheel and clutch parts. I am not sure how it will fit within the trans tunnel or where the shifter will be located though. You may have some fabrication work ahead of you if you go that route.
Just started watching this channel and i plan selling the complete 302 to do this swap. Great information for this swap.👍
Hell yeah! Thanks for watching!
What wide body kit is this ? Maier racing?
Yes sir, Maier racing 3" kit
man im looking at getting a 93 mustang. and its got the 2.3L
Ecoboost swap it!
@@stroupperformance9384 im thinking my 86 svo 2.3 turbo be nice or my 96 4.9L 300 inline 6. im not familur with these newer ecoboosts
Was wondering about the EPAS Performance unit. For the money it should be an almost plug-and-play installation. I'll go another route if I decide to use my manual rack. Thanks.
Just found your channel. The downside of the Fox is small wheelwells, and no one makes flares or a complete body kit that looks good. For autocross or racing anything will work but not if aesthetics is high on the list. Thanks for posting.
There are a couple companies that make flares and complete kits now. The new dominator kit is pretty nice, but I like the more factory style body lines of the maier racing kit that I have. They are barely noticeable after being blended in.
Just finished my LS swap and i like this engine setup, i almost went with the same cluster but couldn’t justify the $1500 lol
The price tag is definitely pretty wild. But it's a really nice piece.
Can’t wait for the next video
Brother keep up the great work
Great work.. new to the channel. Thanks for the great content
I’ve never seen this done before so cool 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 subscribed
dude keep it up
Ecoboost out of an Escape? You know those were recalled, right? They like to crack the block between 2-3.
Not a recall on this engine, it was a recall on the newer twin scroll engines.
@@stroupperformance9384 Ah, then it should be more than okay!
this actually sounds good to . love it
Thank you!
Hey man I got a question how can I contact you?
You can contact me by email and we can go from there stroupperformance@gmail.com
2.7 baby
That engine has a lot of problems with head gasket water intrusion! I do like the engine, and it seems in the end they corrected the issue with the hole in between the bores, however, you’ve got a 15’ model! The output for the displacement it’s really good, but not reliable at all!
That is not an issue with this engine as it is an earlier single scroll engine with the closed deck block. It is not the later twin scroll open deck block. These engines are very reliable, even when pushed to twice the factory rate power.
@@stroupperformance9384 they redesigned some stuff for the 17’ models such as twin scroll turbo and compression ratio, but, the block it’s the same. The closed deck was on N/A Focus (completely different animal).
I have built quite a few of these engines, and can confirm, all engines with the single scroll turbo are closed deck, just like the Focus ST. Check out my Ecoboost 102 video, I show one of my old blocks that failed due to a stuck injector.
@@stroupperformance9384 seems that you’re right… I’m glad to admit that I was mistaken,sense I own a 13’ Escape 2.0. I guess I’ll be holding on to it for a little while longer!
Its a retro SVO! Get the SVO hood and duct the scoop to the intercooler like the original! That would be rad. I owned an 84 SVO, outran more than a few IROCs and GTs back then running 15psi.
