Redcat Gen9 - Fusion SE, Bumpers, Lights and Fuzzy Dice 😁
Nothing real custom but a lot a fun to drive on the trails. The lights seem to only flash on camera, to the regular eye, they don’t flash. Not sure what’s up with that but the lights that flash are controlled by the redcat light controller. The lights that don’t flash are directly powered thru the receiver.
Thanks so much for watching! It’s greatly appreciated.🙏🤙

Gen9 Troubles and improvements

Due to the Castle Mamba X being a touch too big and the redcat receiver becoming unbound from the transmitter, I’ll be installing a Hobbywing Fusion SE along with a Flysky GT5 receiver and that should fix all my issues. If your interested in the rear bumper/tire carrier, I’ll leave a link for it in Amazon. Again I get nothing for anyone using the link or buying products. For information. Thanks...

Got some Vanquishe F10 portal axles on the SR Customs Drunken Redneck chassis, but I’m running links for AR45P axles. So I have the F10 link kit on order and that should help. In preparation for @hellorc7678 Trucks with Cups challenge, I wanted to try some desert lizards on the Capra in a 75% droop to lower the ride hight. Also added high clearance lower links from Injora and that stretched the...

1st RC Crawler Comp with the new build. Many changes are needed 😂
Просмотров 1142 месяца назад
Really worked out some of the major problem areas on the build with it’s first crawler competition. Not that I know anything, but had a lot of good input from other competitors who’ve been doing this longer than I, about spots of improvement and incorrect installation in places. Good learning experience, a lot of fun, know where changes need to be made, just not sure when I can dig back into it...

@@RcDungeon thanks Dungeon! Need to figure out the torture twist but overall, I really like Gen9. That fusion SE was definitely the way to go.

The Scout is really shaping up, I traded mine and a TRX4 for the new printer…. Didn’t even get to drive it 🤙
I really want to get a 3D printer, like bad lol can print so many parts. Do you have any CAD experience? I’ve only done 2D but I really wanna learn 3D. You must’ve gotten a good one for trx4 and a gen9. How are you liking it so far?
@@NEO-RC I have some experience, I was a machinist in the Navy. Right now ANYCUBIC is running a sale, the KOBRA 2 NEO (ironically) is an excellent beginner machine 🤙
@SCRedneckRC-Tony good info thank you. I was looking at one of bamboo labs machines but haven’t looked too much.
@@NEO-RC bambu is top of the line, and I can’t discourage purchasing one… but as a beginner myself I have a extremely hard time using and understanding their slicer software. Best example I can give is Bambu is the Horizon Hobbies of printers their software is proprietary and only works with their products… so when you get a stl file it has to be compatible with their slicer or its of no use. Once you slice a file and say you purchased a second printer of a different brand, it’s not going to work on a new printer. So in essence my printer and a few others are open source software and can easily run just about anything🤙
@ that is really good to know! I did not know they used proprietary software and that’s a bummer. I’m definitely not a fan but of anything being proprietary, especially with 3D printing. I get why but it’s much more appealing to a buyer when you can import and use multiple file types rather than relearning a whole new software suite. Thanks for that info

@@NEO-RC thanks, this was a big help! Ordered!
This looks like it was a fun event and some really cool terrain!
It’s a great place in central Ohio
Exactly same issue I've been having and its rough Rc brother 😪. I had issues with my factory Ascent receiver when I bumped up to 7.4 volts. I only use my Gt3b or Gt5 just make sure you water proof the receiver board, the newer ones are definitely not Waterproof. Id recommend the SE1800kv for the Gen8 as well as the Gen9, now the Ascent id much better with the Se1200kv installed. Your Gen9 looks good Neo nice job on it.
I’m sorry you have that back pain too, the nerve pain is the worst! Skyfly makes a waterproof 6 channel receiver for the gt5. It’s the FS-BS6 ipx4. The SE1800 should be perfect for the gen9. Never tried the SE1200 for some reason.🤷♂️ Thank you sir, nothing really custom, just a little better than stock.
@@NEO-RC I'll keep that receiver info in mind I always take mine apart and conformal coat the boards no matter what, Ive had to many supposed waterproof units fail over the years unfortunately. Yes the 1800 works great I the 8 and 9 platforms. Something about the gearing in the Ascent I think I don't know the 1200 just really set it almost perfectly for my driving style. Glad to see ya able to get back to doing content Neo
Hello, Interesting nice update, have a nice evening!🍀✨🍀 Greetings Seven🖖
Greetings Seven, thank you sir 🖖🤙
Hate to hear you hurt your back hope it gets better soon, also I think the Hobbywing will definitely be a better choice, you can always use the Holmes in a more capable rock crawler 🤙
Thanks SC! Appreciate that! I can get the mamba to fit I’d just have to make longer motor wires and do more modifications but rather than do all that and like you said, I’ll drop it in a more crawler focused rig. A HW fusion SE will be perfect for this and a much less invasive option.
Was there any modifications you had to do to fit the scx10.3 front bumper?
None, it went right on with no issues.
Wow! That's a massive difference! Thank you for your time and energy on this one!
Very welcome and glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!!
This was a lot of work for you! My least favorite thing to do in RC is dealing with beadlocks. Thank you, this was helpful to me
You’re welcome and I’m glad it was of help for you. Some beadlock wheels are horrible and some are pretty easy, it depends on the brand.

Awesome! Yeah it was definitely a good deal. How tall is that GI Joe? I’ll have to look at those. The wheels I have there are Axe Speed from Amazon and some blue beadlock rings also from amazon. I’ll leave a link below but they were $35 then $10 for the rings. What motor and esc did you use? @@RcDungeon thanks dungeon! It’s does really well with just wheels, tires and little brass. I really like this truck, it’s definitely a little bigger than 1/10 but I’m really digging this truck
I think the stock electronics are really good. Tires and wheel upgrade, and it's surprisingly capable. If you're a scout fan, you should have this for sure
The servo is good but I’m putting the brushless motor in right now. The stock brushed motor is fine, the 1040 is pretty crap lol if I didn’t already have a brushless system ready to go, I’d get hw 1080 and call it good. I wouldn’t say I’m a scout fan but I certainly don’t hate them and this one, I just really like. This is really fun truck.
@NEO-RC for sure.. I'm about ready to upgrade the Suburban gen7. Gen8 axles and shocks hw 1080 Holmes 550 and gen9 servo. More than I've done so far! Got 40 and 60wt oil. any suggestions? It's gonna be heavy
@@staysmallrc nice! I’ve yet to try a Holmes brushed motor but I’ve never heard anything bad about them. Sounds like it’s gonna be a nice setup. On the shock oil and suspension, it’s subjective, what I like may not be what you like, and I’m certainly no expert. I favor lighter weight oil for quicker response and let the springs handle the weight. Others like heavyweight oil with slower response. You can mix the 40 & 60wt oil to get 50wt if you want something in between
@NEO-RC right on, thank you
@@staysmallrc probably wasn’t much help but you’re welcome 😉

The gmade gs02/f models have the anit torque transmission with opposite rotating drive shafts , the Carisma sca-1e 2.1 trucks also have the anti torque transmissions
Thank you and good to know! I don’t have either of those but the gmade seem to be really nice and I’d like to try one eventually.
the course looks like 1 10 not 18 not so good these trucks are not for 1 10 lay outs but they will perform but not so good
You are correct. My course is for 1/10 trucks. I only have the two 1/18 trucks and yes they do struggle on the course. I don’t run the 1/18 trucks often.
@@NEO-RC but they still do ok .thanks for the reply take care
Nice mail haul!!! I love the the redcat scouts gen8 and gen9. Great rigs. Redcat has an awesome sale if I could I'd snap up the Marksman. The Recats are always fat cats lol! The blue inserts should be about perfect 👌, great video Neo! Thanks for the shout out, the Gmade is the only one I know of has the anti torque twist transmission. You can elevate the Gen8 gen9 torque twist running DL shocks in full droop, they are a completely different animal with a good DL shock setup heavy weight oil with softest springs in full droop👌 Also the Redcats do significantly better with a closest to 60/40 weight bias from what I've found
Good to know! I love DL shocks anyway lol I’ve been wanting to try a Gmade and a RGT but never seem to for some reason.
@@NEO-RC The Gmade are totally underrated by everyone. I don't know much about RGT like to have that cheap CJ Jeep they make though
@@RcDungeon every video I see on the Gmade are good, don’t think Ive seen anything negative about them
Love my gen9. Decals for the hood are NOT forgiving, so be careful. Tore mine and saw others tear it. Just say'n and shift while creeping, or you'll burn the tiny servo. Just my experience, you know way more about it 😂
Thanks for the heads up on the decals! I’ll try and be careful. Normally I don’t shift while moving, but the shift servo is micro so yeah, won’t take much. 95% of the time I’ll just leave it in low. Those aren’t bashers anyway lol
@NEO-RC exactly and yah I burned mine fast. The body looks way better tucked in the sliders. Doesn't look so tall
24:05 oh wow what a huge difference in deformation
Definitely, a good set of tires is a huge improvement.
17:53 Good thing Nathan Drake had his rubber band on
😂 Definitely! I might have to find a RC Ambulance
For the decals I had to look at Scale Builder's Guild video on it since he put almost all of them on. The interior decals require a lot of disassembly so I said screw it and left most of them off.
SCredneck helped and let me know those were door panel stickers. Yeah I’m not sure I’m gonna take the whole interior apart to put stickers on but the led kit did come with dash lights but you have to, at least, partially take the interior out to put those in. So maybe I will and do both, the stickers and dash lights.
I love the scout, for $225 it is an absolute steal
Yea it was over $100 off but I really debated between the gen9 and the marksman, which is super nice too. 👍
@@NEO-RC That's why I got them both ;)
@@YARCWest did you?! Im really tempted to grab the marksman before the sale ends.
@@NEO-RC Yeah I have a vid up on it that you commented on lol I also put up a vid of both of the trucks trailing together. Edit: Ah you meant the Scout, you knew about the Marksman. My bad
What about putting another rider to balance the weight?
I will try that but it does the torque lean without the figure in there. Might work though! Thanks and thanks so much for watching!
What does sensor motor mean in the brushless?
The motor has sensors that detect rotation positioning and the esc (electronic speed controller) reads the sensor and applies power smoother on start up, better drag brake control, better temperature control and just efficient operation. I think. That’s the first sensored motor I’ve ever had and I haven’t even used it yet. lol I’m still learning too
Driver is great, I’ve been looking at this, thanks for the review. I only have 6 inch figures, hopefully they will work
Depends on the truck. This is scaled a little incorrectly. Seats way too deep and head room way too short but you make do. I’ve had to get several figures for one fit properly. Even had cut legs off lol
I'm using the 7inch Inigo Montoya on mine and he fits pretty well, has his feet are on the pedal. Like Neo mentioned though, there isn't a proper amount of head room for him and his head is basically touching the roll cage.
@@YARCWest I’d love to find some Metallica figures. Get the whole band in there .
@@NEO-RC That would be sick! My son is named after Cliff Burton. I know he's on amazon but I don't think he articulates well enough to fit.
@@YARCWest no kidding! That’s awesome 😎 the first song I ever learned how to play on guitar was nothing else matters. Second song was Thank You by Zeppelin
Hello, Very nice Model, have a nice Sunday! 🍀 Greetings Seven🖖
Greetings Seven🖖 thank you so much sir. You have a great weekend too 👍
Sounds like a good buy! Nice neo!
Thanks! I like it so far, think it’ll be pretty fun rig.
I picked the silver one Monday and the Ascent Fusion, proline dual stage foams and Tusks for both 🤙
The black stickers are door panels, you have too remove the inner door handle and window crank, then reinstall 🤙
Right on! The ascent fusion is probably the best truck of the year or the runner up next to the vanquish H-10. Fantastic choice. I’ve never tried the tusks for some reason but like all JConcepts tires, they have to be good. You’ll be happy with what you got there!👍🤙
Oh thank you! That helps. Not sure I’ll mess with that but we’ll see. If I take all the door panel screws out I might as well take the whole interior out and put in the dash lights that came with the led kit. Which I wanted to do anyway
Waiting for your vid on it!
