The purpose of the channel is to highlight the awesome trout fishing we have in Australia, in particularly the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales. I've never had much luck finding information online about the different rivers and streams in the area. Therefore I am going to head down there, strap a go-pro to myself, fish as many of the waters as possible, and share it with you all.

Polaroiding Cicada Feeders - Reservoir Fishing
First time fishing this piece of water so wasn't sure what to expect. Once I figured out that the fish were hammering cicadas, I ended up having a pretty productive session.

Back Country Fly Fishing - Example of a Typical Day
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.21 час назад
I think this might be one of my favorite videos; it pretty much sums up a typical day fly fishing in the back country. From bush bashing through rough scrub, falling in holes, getting bitten by flies and ants, running into snakes, walking/wading for hrs without seeing a fish, hooking trees - all to get one shot at an awesome fish and land it! :) The video also covers what food I generally pack ...

Good to be back fishing aussie rivers! Fished pretty hard during winter on the lakes, however the footage is not that exciting, as it's often long days of flogging the water for 1-2 opportunities. I think this might be the first time I have uploaded footage with my new GoPro 10 after the GoPro 8 got wet. You should hopefully be able to play my new videos in 4K. Enjoy

What a great day fishing with my mate Nick. Unfortunately I submerged my GOPRO without the battery cover early in the day and damaged it. As such I wasn't able to record a lot of the action - including spotting some 4.5lb fish. The good news is I've subsequently upgraded to a GOPRO 10, so I should be able to upload higher quality videos in the future.

Epic Search for my $1500 Orvis Rod
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
Based on analysis of my raw footage I was optimistic at the beginning of the week that I had managed to whittle down the area I lost my rod to about a 800m stretch of river. The region then had approx 200mm of rain fall over the week, so when I finally got to the river to commence my search, the river was about 3x the size and in flood. As you will see from the footage, crossing the river was p...

5lb BROWN TROUT in Remote Gorge - Day 2
Well done good fishing, love a cicada eat.
You should think about getting a smaller net. It will make unhooking fish a lot easier.
Fantastica pescata con bellissime catture complimenti amico mio hai fatto un video bellissimo un abbraccio dal tuo nuovo amico dall’Italia 🔔🔔🔔🤝🤝🤝
Ripper p3. That's a good morning. Cicadas just feel special. Watch out for those scree slides mate, you'll be roping up for the approach soon. 🙂Good plan hitting the alpine lakes, I reckon. Rivers do seem slow. Just had a few days in the central west, most eventful thing was losing my mrs 3wt, and she still caught the only fish of the day! Hope life is good. Cheers mate PP
Awesome love your stuff man
great video once again, thanks
what weight rod is your lake rod?
Mate - tip on the horse fly affliction. Don’t wear blue - they love it. Good to see you back out suffering this season with us
I like those forceps , where’d you get those?
They are Scientific Anglers Tailout XL Scissor Forceps. The large finger loops make life so much easier. I picked them up from Muz at High Country Outfitters in Jindy
nice fishing and nice vid. and wow thats a decent fish - the vid caught it coming back down stream @ 18:43, just beyond the rod tip - great stuff !!
I just resurrected my fly rod after it has been sitting in my garage for 30 years. I was at Jindabyne over Christmas and thought I should get it out and have a crack. I just fished the deeper pools at Spencer Creek. I had an absolute blast. Took me a while to remember the casting action but geez I had fun. This was a top video in one of the most beautiful places in Australia ad what an awesome Brown that was. My fly fishing spark has been lit again.
Awesome! Spencer Creek can be pretty technical so if you're catching fish there you are doing a great job! If not, it's still a gorgeous part of aus. The banner photo for my channel is taken at spencer creek. Hopefully you can get out again soon :)
Scratches, bites, snakes, falling a -over, low water….yep…typical bush day. Only thing is I wouldn’t have got that fish. Nice one!!
hah, I've lost count of the times that I ended up hooking a tree or bush and missed that single opportunity. All we can do is try again and hope for that all the stars align!
@ good to see you back out ‘checking your traps’ in the snowies! Pretty hard core to do those 5 dayers alone!
Aussie level of flies ..
Amazing! When you exclaimed in excitement at the moment the trout jumped, I did the same in front of my monitor! 😁👍
hah i dont know what it is about a jumping fish, it just makes you want to woop!
Geeze, mate you're taking that training thing to heart! Rough walking through tussocks and scrub. Definitely quietened down in the rivers, eh? Nice to see how you pack. No bladder of red wine is very spartan. Great trip, though. Cheers PP
Yer not sure what's up with the rivers - definitely was tough fishing. People mention the cormorants but maybe it's just the natural ebb and flow of things...
@@p3p_flyfishing Yeah, I don't go along with the cormorant thing. I think it's the climate over the last year or more. The browns didn't spawn properly last year, so much so the fisheries are restricting what we get for restocking. Numbers were way down at the fish traps. Even the rainbows didn't run at the end of winter. Interestingly there was an article in the paper today that water bird populations dropped by 50% over 23-24 due to low water levels. Great for debates in the pub, though. 😃 My mrs watched this last night and was laughing about your honesty & your swearing! 🤣
24:24 lmao… that was like replaying inside my head nearly every cast up there… so good…
hah when they come up and your anticipation builds only for the buggers to swim off; you know you were sooo close
Lovely country, well worth the effort, and it is effort because even when it is flat and looks easy its still bloody hard work! Do you see many deer up there in your journeys?
Yer it can be deceiving; you're right, its not the elevation gain that gets you, its the damn plants trying to top you in your tracks! Didn't see that many dear in this part of the park, I've seen a lot more elsewhere. Although I did see two on the walk out near where the snake footage was taken. Looked like a doe and her fawn
6 seconds in, already cracking up
I think most ausi fly fishers can relate :P
Love some bush bashing
only in small doses though!
Thoughts on the cormorants? Have you noticed an effect on the fishing?
Hard to say - the fishing has been pretty tough but I haven't actively seen the cormorants at the rivers so not sure if the cause is from them. Saying that I saw 6 of them perched on a tree at euc the other day.
keep them coming!
have a few more lined up :)
Tough gig but nice fish. Not liking the way the snakes aren't moving away on approach, bloody things !
yep I don't think those big guys have a lot of predators so they aren't phased by much. Either that, or they are sht scared and freeze in place thinking we can't seem them :P
The flies?
You can hear them eating him ..
The flies are saving the fish ..
If only he was fishing for 3 pound flies .. Whoshka. What a top fish. ..
Looks like you hiked in with waders rather than wet wade? I've done that track carrying mine and despite going late season so likely colder I kind of regretted carrying them :)
wet wading here - i use the patagonia wading socks with my wading boots. Would cook in full waders. It's actually really nice cooling off the feet in the river :P I rarely use full waders in summer. Mainly only in the lakes if I know I am going to be standing waist deep for a few hours
@p3p_flyfishing makes sense... I was trying to see properly and thought the booties were attached and decided that the green pants looked like the green patagonia waders. Even though it was colder when I went I'll just try and stay out of the water lol
That trout jump deserves the highest score!
I thought some of the trout feeding on dragon fly in the lakes jump high, however this guy jumped about 3x what I've seen them do!
Really nice video - great stalk! What is the little green thing on the butt of the rod - the thing you loop[ line around?
I've searched through the normal online shops I use, but I cant remember which one I got it from. It was about $10 from memory, it just slips onto the butt of your rod and allows you to loop your leader around it rather than around the reel.
You should have driven your car to the spot
hah I def would have if I could! Unfortunately they have gates blocking access.
That happens to me a lot snag when you trying to cast at a fish I've learned when that happens stop fishing take a breather and slow it down 😅 all ways works
hah too true - the opportunities can be so fleeting that it easy to get caught up in the moment
Tough season this year - but it’s starting to get a little better. Fish numbers are way down - especially rainbows it seems - but still nice to get out and about. What fish are around are in great nic- here’s hoping for some good rains come spawn… and a few less cormorants to get em while they are vulnerable. Lake should fire up again too once the temps drop a bit. But the beetle hatch was fun this year!
yep I experience the same thing with the rivers. Euc was pumping when I fished it bit over a week ago, although can be a bit weather dependent
Great stuff P3. Nice to have you back, dude. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, looking forward to the next instalment. Bit of water up there, too. That's encouraging. Bit of rain coming, so hopefully hit up the central west this week. The lightweight gear looks totally worth it, make the tussocks almost fun! 🙂 Almost. Keep 'em coming mate. Cheers PP
Always good to hear from you PP! The lighter the better! Especially when you have to fish with it on your back for several hours a day
Thanks for a great video just loved it
cheers! Just editing a few more which I will upload shortly.
Great to see you back, beautiful country and river and a top trout too !
Cheers! Super lucky with the weather as well
Nice! Been hanging out for an upload.
Great content and welcome back. Tried a March fly pattern?😂
Didn't try one, but there are a lot of march flies about so def think it would work. Had some success with cicadas on the lakes
been waaay too long. Will watch it now. Cheers
Nice! Should have several more videos coming out shortly
welcome back. I love the idea of having to hike to a fishing spot. I recently destroyed my GoPro 9 too by going for a swim to unsnag a fly (chest mount) without realising the battery door was open. How far was the hike? Horse flies are probably life's biggest annoyance haha
o damn, good excuse to upgrade. I did the same thing, accidentally left the battery door off and submerged it for an underwater shot. That stretch of river runs about 15km, ended up bailing a bit early as river got pretty shallow several km up and stopped holding fish. Took a while to bash my way out. You think a long sleeve shirt would stop the flies, but they manage to bite straight through it!
@@p3p_flyfishing The march flies love the colour blue.
@@Chris-just-Chris hah that probably explains it! I have the same shirt in grey, might try that next time
Is this the act cotter?
Yep!
Where is this?
Hi bro could you please send me the physical address where you are fishing. Cheers
Hey mate, if you google maps Denison Campground in Kosciusko National Park, you will see the Eucumbene River running just down from it. That is the location.
Fantastic video. Just great back to back fishing footage for the purists.
Cheers! Some more videos coming soon
Absolutely gorgeous browns!
I found your channel through your rod recovery video. I haven't returned to your channel in 6 months, but that video came to mind a few times, and tonight, I spent some time searching for it. I've subscribed and hope you'll upload some more videos.
Love the videos.
I think i've watched this video about 4 times. Heading to Tassie for the first time in Feb. Bought the book "Trout Waters of Tasmania" on your recommendation. Thanks, great investment and great read. Canberra boy as well

Do you fish the snowy river above Lake Jindabyne often?
Love the setup, awesome video.
