Why Do So Many Languages Use Double Negation?
Why do languages around the world seem to "double up" on negation? In French, you say "ne" and "pas" to negate a verb-but this isn't just a quirk of French. Double negation strategies appear across the globe: from Nordic tongues to Navajo, from Afrikaans to Arabic. So why is this pattern so common, and how do these negation structures develop in the first place?

«Chalumeau» simply means "pipe" or "tube" (a hollow shaft) which describes what reed is. In Québec, the metal spout used to harvest maple water is called «chalumeau».
my dumbass: if you look at the distance between the continents, you can tell that this map was made after (wait for it) Pangea so its probably not a few million years ago
I speak Arabic, and i think most of these words are only found dialects. I have rarely heard them used
The notion that the glass slipper is really a vair slipper, to which the French for "glass" is a homophone, isn't as widely accepted as it used to be. It's an idea that makes sense, but, in this case, just turns out to be factually wrong, even though on its face it sounds good.
Well they suck at marketing. Want to be recognized for your contribution? Make sire everypne knows its you.
i think bro has issue with his car, and tryna explain to the mechanic why it won't start in the future tense
It's even more about history, i.e. how Eastern knowledge migrated through a convoluted path of knowledge and no-one gave a dang (or was able to trace back that knowledge).
That French example doesn’t qualify as a future tense if the English one doesn’t- it comes from the concept of having (to) eat, i.e. necessity, being tied up with the concept of the future, much like how desire did in English with willing to do something. J’ai de manger - je manger-ai. Same in Spanish. Yo he de comer - yo comer-he. The channel Linguriosa talks about this a lot.
Also it’s just Korea instead of north and South Korea
Germany still rules Togoland when he zooms to Africa.
I’m from Morocco. Are you from Monaco. 😂😂 happens all the time
i mean, maybe if they hadnt allowed their religious bullshit to take over the culture, they would have gotten the credit they deserve. js
Idea: make concepts of letters for the language that dragons could probably be able to write. Maybe there could be accents for the sounds where you would breathe fire whilst speaking.
In comments on other language videos, some pewsaw that English is easy to learn because it doesn't have all those conjugations. Seems to mee rhat English is trickier than , say, French, because English relies more on word order and implied meaning like in this video.
This is just elder deity (cthulhu and the like) speak at this point, just generally hard or impossible.

I'm not sure you're actually right about the Cinderella one. The oldest Cinderella type story we have comes from China, it seems to have been a story archetype that traveled west as trade routes grew stronger. Before it was a glass slipper it was gold, before a fairy godmother it was doves in the willow tree that grew over her dead mom. Before any of that it was a Greek servant girl, who's slipper was taken by an eagle while she bathed all the way down to Egypt, and when it fell in the pharaohs lap he declared he had to marry the woman it belonged to and spent years searching for her. It could have been squirrel fur slippers if it was told orally by the French before being written down by a famous story collector, however I doubt it. See, the slippers are usually made of whatever is most expensive at the time, the age of the era so to speak. The gold slipper was in the gold age, the glass one is from what we call the glass age. It's actually been speculated that the last century will come to be known as the oil age due to the wars fought over it. Most of the various stories slippers line up with what is considered the most decadent and expensive material of the age, and if you look at the palaces made around the time of the glass slipper versions of Cinderella they often have huge arching windows lining entire walls with mirrors on the opposite walls, the ceilings, and sometimes even the floors in certain rooms. Glass was all the rage, the new gold, the hot commodity among the rich and powerful. The glass slipper was likely meant as a reflection of this new trend, to make Cinderella stand out as the most unique and wealthy woman among the aristocracy she hid among
