      Thanks for the comment Gav. We would recommend doing this as a warmup before you bench. We like to prescribe 2 sets of 12 reps with 1-3kg dumbbells, depending on strength level of the person

    Thank you for the informative video. I do not have access to cables currently, will doing incline DB curls have the same effect as the cable drag curl given the fact that i would not move my elbow joint as the pivot while doing the incline bench DB curls?

    • @performotion1
      @performotion1 7 месяцев назад

      Yes that would be a great alternative, keeping the elbows behind the body while you curl

    Helpful video! Quick question though, what are some pointers i should look out which shows that this exercise is applicable for me? Is there a specific “pain” (sharp/ dull) or ROM (bottom of lift/ towards lock out) i should be feeling in my chest? I do have some discomfort, what test can i do to make sure this exercise is for me?

    • @performotion1
      @performotion1 3 месяца назад

      Really hard to say, as everyone is different. But generally some sharpness at the bottom position when the bar touches the chest. If you want some further guidance, feel free to send me a DM on Instagram @joshquan_performotion

    do u think steven should move up a weight class?

    • @performotion1
      @performotion1 2 года назад

      All of Steves comps have been done at U59kg and we haven't seen his performance impacted negatively with the small cuts that he does. Currently the U66kg category in Aus is pretty stacked and Steven is on his way to becoming competitive in the U59's so I don't see a reason for him to move up just yet (unless he personally wanted to). Never say never though - maybe he'll move up in the future

    "I'm not editing that out, that was fun" HAHAHAHAHA Great topic though. What are the top struggles you see with mindset in athletes?

    • @performotion1
      @performotion1 2 года назад

      The biggest one would be not treating themselves as athletes and taking the sport as a “hobby” but still wanting to succeed.

  • @jvinstructionaldesign
    @jvinstructionaldesign 2 года назад

    Do you program differently for males vs females?

    • @stevenday1164
      @stevenday1164 2 года назад

      Yes 100% A lot of the same principles aswell, but pending load and volume tolerances would dictate which way we would go with a particular individual.

  • @jvinstructionaldesign
    @jvinstructionaldesign 2 года назад

    How do you track the fatigue accumulation of an athlete? Do you program deloads within a block?

    • @stevenday1164
      @stevenday1164 2 года назад

      It’s going to be super dependant on the athlete themself and how much they can tolerate. Initially finding someone’s general block lock length and when we will deload will be quite reactive until we gather enough data on an individual. I generally won’t program a deload during a meso rather at the end and then begin the next meso pending how successful the last was, whether we need to dial right back or just ressensitise and run it back. Communication throughout a block on how an athlete is feeling is the best way to go about figuring out an ideal meso for each individual, and paying attention too how they’re moving and feeling.
