Monkey Steals Peach x The Ravenswood Academy Team Up
I actually really like the mini backfist. It acts kinda like a short range jab. Not devastating but enough to set up other combos. The rest was meh... most of it was just happenstance stuff and basic boxing.
You're legit.. you're doing a great job.. as a fellow KF practitioner, i feel very proud❤
only kids compare MMA to martial arts. techniques in MMA are all originated from different martial arts.
omegalul, saving this!
Nombre de la canción NAME of the song ...mierda yo no hablar en Washington solo pasen el Name
Doing this awful style against a real fighter won't end well😂☠️
U have learned well, grasshoppa!
I did Northern Praying Mantis(Wah Lum) for 5 years. When watching it, the form look fancy with a lot of pretty techniques, but if the applications are taught correctly, it can be used very effectively for stand-up fighting. The "fancy" forms include eye jabs, neck strikes, kicks to the knee, and even groin grabs/strikes.
Finally a real person testing out other martial arts in a fight. Keep it up man, would love to see more styles being applied. The clipping with the old photos was a dope addition too!
Ele esteve em solo brasileiro e foi muito amado.
Great
Gung Fu is a way of life! So cool, great job! The Mantis fist is one to be reckoned with!
Amazing fight Shifu congratulations!
Why the real deal is so much better than MMA!
This is for Seven Star Mantis or Taiji Plum Mantis?
Awesome bro, awesome, i don't have more words, awesome
Молодец, правильно оттачивает навыки в спаринге👍
As a student of the martial art, Praying Mantis of the North, by Grandmaster Brendan Lai, I can say with extreme certainty that everything in this video is real, and was applied with precise force, so as not to lethally hurt the opponent. We have a True Martial Artist here ladies and gentlemen. Total respect for him.
YES the name of the technique (TCMA and TJMA) for that hand to waist means, “pulling hand.” It’s mixing grappling in with striking. But, ALSO considering that almost every occurrence of actual combat back in the days… knives and other hidden weapons, including throwing sand, chemicals, poisons, coins, shaved objects were involved. You constantly check that off-hand to stop them from reaching back to their waist after you’ve bridged the distance gap. Only modern art that I’ve seen practice this overtly nowadays is Eskrima / Kali unfortunately Forms always exaggerate and lose context over time, unfortunately.
Beautiful
there is a difference in locking down your arm down and all the way back, and pulling back your arm like in boxing. they do it in a different way.
What handset contains the righthand-grab left straight punch, lefthand-grab right hammer fist combination?
I’ll give you two interesting examples. Large Wheeling (大番車) and Plum Blossom Falls (梅花落) both have what you just described: only what makes them interesting as examples of this is that they add a groin kick during the first move (grabbing and punching)! Subsequently, the hammer fist flowing into the back fist (崩捶 劈捶) is itself from the the handset 插捶 (Cha Chui, or Charging Punches, Spear Hand, however you want to translate it). Good luck!
@theravenswoodacademy8796: Thank you for the reply! I don't know the "Large Wheeling" handset, and only bits of the "Plum Blossom Falls". The right Cross-kick left Thrusting palm into the horse stance right Hammer-fist strike in the last road of Charging Punches, is the closest example, mechanically, in my list of handsets.
@@hemispace641 that's great. I and others were definitely practicing the combination in the vid before we ever learned "Plum Blossom Falls" etc. Forms are fine but the skills are the main point. Enjoy drilling the combination.
Right on man. I love it when TMA practitioners pressure test their art. Way to go 👏
those moves exist, and are better taught, within western boxings "long guard". The photo clearly shows the hand should be at the hip during your movements.. why do you keep it high like a boxer?
Easy win
So cool ! 😎
That is so amazing! Really did not expect to see this in this vid. Usually it is just an unedited fight. Seeing the overlapping figures and actual application was way more inspiring than I was prepared for. Props to the fighter and editor!
Never seen a fat ass praying mantis 😂😂😂
Mr. Petty!! Its so cool that youre doing this stuff now. I still remember our piano lessons. I'm becoming a big fan of martial arts and combat sports (specifically boxing) my mom wont let me box though.
Hope you are doing well! It is important not to get hit in the head too much when you are young (when you are old too!). This is probably you’re mom’s concern. The good news is there is still a lot you can practice on your own: shadow-boxing (throwing techniques in the air), running to build up your lung endurance, lifting weights to get stronger, etc. Don’t be afraid to try some of that out on your own, just be safe. Hope you are doing well and stay in touch! Cheers.
Thanks for the advice. Right now I'm busy with school and band, so I'm going to exercise way more over the summer.
Love that sweatshirt! I'll definitely reach out to you for an interview next month. Last year was a bizarre year for me, so I had to put a lot of things on hold to recover mentally. Really excited to talk to you soon!
This guy is the smartest most technical martial artist I ever seen, he literally makes Praying Mantis Kung Fu deadly and effective
I don’t think his opponent represents mma…trained…or even in shape 😂
No way bro just arted on his ass
Very precise movements.
Everyone who knows the minimum on MMA, knows that that guy wasn’t an mma fighter
THIS IS SO AWESOME 👏🏿
Kung fu saved me so many times. Endless forms just become applied instinct.
Excellent,at last Kung Fu done properly. Thank you ❤
這是鐵牛/朱家嗎?
I trained under Sifu Lai in the '70s, and he was my first and most influential teacher. He demanded perfect form and his speed was amazing. Although often overlooked when observing sound Northern Mantis technique, look closely at Sifu Lai's footwork and lower body structure as he executes his attacks; occupying the opponent's space while dissolving their structure is an integral part of the applications (and a by-product of perfect form and execution). My deepest respects to Sifu, his family, and the larger family of those lucky to have benefited from his teachings.
This is not mantis
I am sorry for your loss. I study under Sifu Raul Ortiz.
Very good
🔥🔥🔥✊
Obviously you discounted the factual, real life facts the author qualified himself for the information he delivered. You don’t believe the Chinese circumnavigated the earth? Good for you. But the Piri Reese map , I believe, is the extant proof that they did that. Too bad you are a purveyor of misinformation and disinformation. But the facts presented in the book are validated by the earthly evidence of their existence is available to see today.
This is a brilliant presentation. Well done. Thank you.
This martial artist (Alex) is clearly a skilled PM practitioner and is showing how to use the style (and Kf in general) effectively, angles included-really refreshing to watch. As he would know, when going to the ground it gets even worse -finger breaks, throat grabs, thumbs in eyes etc. in order to tear any soft or vulnerable tissue and get up and out. Contrary to usual bs comments about Kf, we (in my case 7-star PM) do train in chin na and shuai jiao techniques as part of the style to do just that with protective gear-ever been slammed on your head on a pavement instead of a mat or having your neck cranked while being thrown? give it a go and see how well your sacrifice throw to get on your back works. Apologies to the BJJ crowd but that's what we mean by close-in techniques and groundfighting-not working to a submission while your opponent friends kick you in the head, even with the awareness that submissions do work well one on one. Ok-some of this is tongue in cheek but the Kf practitioners get the point. From too many other vids, I do think more Kf practitioners need to be aware of not falling into the kicking and punching sparring trap or staying on the ground without applying other aspects of Kf (i.e. the other person's game), but rely on Kf techniques, speed, and strategy. Others might say that we like this vid because the Kf practitioner won, when in fact it's one of the very few times in which we've seen the Kf (in this case Wong Hon Fun PM) actually applied as we know it. Appreciated that he kept the skills and this fight to stand-up for the sake of the other guy. I definitely don't want to get on his bad side 😇
Rika Usami is a global reference regardless of style. That’s martial objectivity, well done.
While the video was nice, but are you not a master/teacher of mantis, having practiced in it for many years? If yes, you should've picked a fight with an equally trained MMA practitioner....I bet you the result would've been extremely different.
