This game made me think into what story my living space tells, and it was quite emotional and laid things quite bare when read into. I encourage yall to give it a try, there's a lot of meaning in what we do with the space in which we live. (Especially if it's something you never put thought into, like me. Makes it all the more subconsciously telling.) Thank you for the wonderful analysis of this amazing game- having first experienced this game from a more humorous content creator, a lot of the emotional and story details were lost on me. Reading into the details of her life and story and her ending up with a lovely gay partner makes me so emotional. Thank you. <3

I enjoyed the idea of the game, the story, but after 10 hours of frustrating game play I gave up. The aesthetic treatment and overall design were very well designed, but the missions were, like you said, frustrating.

If i remember right Dead island was one of my First zombie games that got me hooked on the genre. I loved 1, riptide and 2 (despite how people saw dead island 2 compared to the rest). However the dead island definitive edition, it was good to see the game again, i hated the graphics, everything was washed out and weird looking at times :/

A Riptide-like entry would be cool to hold us over, show us what happened to the original survivors and how Sam became the only one to make it to LA. DLC for Patton could be awesome as well, he must have a hell of a story to tell

Fun fact is that dead island was originally supposed to release in 2008 but released in 2011 for improvement. Also in the 2008 version the story wouldn’t be about the immune but a story about a man looking for his wife after a plane crashed

you don't see a lot of genres go with a concept of the Autophage, like yeah they get close in the walking dead but they don't go with "next state of evolution" or "it's a time bomb in our DNA waiting for a mass extinction" i like it, even if it doesn't totally sit right in regards to the dead island story.... the crackpot humour and casualness is nice too, more realistic to the 2020s era

I liked playing dead island coop with randoms, one time a random dropped a bunch of cheated AK47s that had explosive rounds and we it would flip the car if you shot it out the window, we beat the game in like 3 hours just dicking around the whole time

I have to be honest. I had not beaten it. I've picked it up several times over the last few years and always got derailed for some reason or another. Probably because I was trying too hard to win. This time, I finally followed everyone's advice and decided to play through my mistakes. And it was great, I actually started making progress. It was still pretty much everything I did for a full week (I have been sick, so couldn't do much else), but I finally finished. How do I feel about it now? I dunno. I actually think I like it a little less. I died 36 times, and I kind of expected that to matter. But nothing really does. You get your endingtron 3000, there's an epilog of sorts, and that's sort of just it. The game doesn't seem to care what you did. I kept being told it was more rewarding to play through your mistakes, and, well, it saved time, if that counts as a reward. I think I would have liked it better if you weren't given a choice at the end. Then it's like, yeah, everything you do is futile. Themes! But by giving you the big, artificial, "Choose your ending" buttons, it's like, why all of a sudden, now, after everything, give us this choice? And such an empty choice at that. It had felt so meaningful to me, for years, only for some of that meaning to feel a bit empty now that I've finally dragged myself past the credits, expecting all of these secrets and accountabilities to begin spilling out, and there's just, nothing there.

My gripe with dead island 1 and 2 is the lack of continuity and the ambiguity of what is happening making the narrative unreliable at best. Not to mention the first game were clear on the horror aspect and the honestly terrifying ambience while the second one is feels like it was directed by fucking James Gunn with joke cracking and an addiction to older pop culture reference. Not everything need to be like Marvel. Especially not today's Marvel. That being said, Dead Island 2 on its own can be enjoyable. I'd appreciate a third person perspective and if someone could give Amy her missing leg back that would be nice.
