    This was the best of all the dlc for me especially because it gave closure to the series and we got to see just how terrible things became in the end

    I’m not sure the DLCs played out considering how out there they all were. I do appreciate the narrative experience of We All Fall Down. The dichotomy between the parents, the feelings of guilt and repercussions associated with doing the right thing, and closing out the game with the first character we met having possibly saved the day.

      Yes if I was going to believe any of them were canon it would be this one but it has to be embellished to say the least.

    Even though the ending and even the story of this DLC is very ambiguous and open ended as is the rest of the game. Like i honestly thought Victoria was gonna be an antagonist towards Ollie for making her remember what she did.
    But at the same time, the whole maps being different from one another from every character fits the lore of We Happy Few as one of the side effects of taking Joy is memory loss. As each character struggles to remember how the world is like once they're off their Joy.
    But i do like how it parallels with Ollie's story as well. And much like Ollie, bringing out the truth didn't set things right, it made it worse for themselves.

    I was always convinced that this entire DLC has everything displaced due to the state of mind of the protagonist. Victoria😂 is off the joy for the first time in ages and has always struck me as a person who doesn’t care for the Road she takes to achieve her goals (hence the displacement of locations since she would ignore anything in-between).
    I can’t help but sympathise with her in the end. It takes courage to make hard choices and Victoria was way out of practice.

    I really appreciate you putting these videos out. Got a renewed interest in this game recently but didn't want to pay so much for a game that I've heard is quite flawed. This scratches the story itch quite well, and the editing, while not flashy, is very good at showing the necessary visuals as the story goes along!

    • @EvenBadWolvesGaming
      @EvenBadWolvesGaming  2 года назад +6

      If you did want to try the game out now would probably be a good time to do it. At the moment Steam has We Happy Few for $8.49 (Australian dollars) and the DLCs for $2.79 each; or the digital deluxe edition (game plus DLCs) for $14.97.
      On consoles, Xbox Gamepass has the main game free at the moment (at least it does here), while in the Playstation store the digital deluxe is $12.99 Australian.
      So depending where you are you might be able to get it cheap. It is flawed but the DLCs are pretty good.

    I think they made this DLC in a similar vein to Bioshock 2 to tie up the loose ends and show how the city truly fell. The writers probably didn't think that anything could of prevented the message from being broadcast and focused more on the person who played a hand in the city's demise and the psychological damages she had on everyone

    5:05 a possible theory could be that the Uncle Jack tape is first broadcast at some point during the DLC and then played again as Hayworth labs is destroyed (the first screen of We All Fall Down tells us to ‘ignore the silly rumour that the food has run out’ this could be alluding to Ollie leaking the Uncle Jack Tale)

    I just want to admire that Victoria Bing (Byng?), our secondary antagonist becomes the actual hero Wellington Wells needs. Out of immense guilt, yes, but duty first and foremost. Duty to genuinely care for Wellington Wells and at least get it out of its drug funk. And she f*cking delivers the “coffee yogurt” the town needed even if they hate her for it.
    Also her whip gameplay was extremely fun lol

    We happy few has a great beginning and middle, but terrible end to every story, because every single story ending is left ambiguous. 100% not worth the $110 it costs to get this game and it's DLC 4 years after release.

    • @EvenBadWolvesGaming
      @EvenBadWolvesGaming  2 года назад +6

      Definitely not worth getting at full price but it’s often on sale on Steam and the main game is on Gamepass.

  • @ntfoperative9432
    @ntfoperative9432 2 года назад +13

    That's probably the biggest issue with the game. All the stories, on their own, are amazing, but when all put together, it turns the overall story into a disjointed mess, where it's almost impossible to keep the facts straight. The only story that didn't screw with the overall plot was the Light bringer DLC, and that's only because it's set before the main game

    • @EvenBadWolvesGaming
      @EvenBadWolvesGaming  2 года назад +8

      I think we aren’t meant to be able to keep the facts straight, just like the Wellies aren’t able to trust their memories due to Joy. I interpret Lightbearer as occurring after the part of the game where he electrocutes himself but it could have been before the game and just being a massive drug trip.

    I see the displacement of everything being the fault of the game's original design entirely. They were making an indie game that was expected to be a AAA game, so when it came time for the DLC, they decided to move things around, trying to improve the world's design. I also think they may have not thought of these stories while making the main game, meaning maybe they all did happen, as we see them, and Victoria did blow up the lab alongside Ollie letting the truth out. In the end we can't say for sure unless the devs come out and tell us. There will always be that chance that everything is so jumbled due to the effects of joy, but given the game's history, it would be kind of hard to say.

    • @EvenBadWolvesGaming
      @EvenBadWolvesGaming  Год назад

      Possibly it was due to design changes but characters remembering things differently is a big part of the main game. Take Dr Faraday’s house for example. For Arthur the house is in the garden district, for Sally and Ollie it’s in town.

    I think the whole 'unreliable narrator' thing is just confusing and dumb. I'm personally not a big fan of that form of storytelling. I don't know if it's just done poorly in the game or if the plot device just seems like crap to me. Am I the only person who thinks this?
