Sleeping Under 14th Century Ruins | Camino Part 6

Part 6! Two of my favorite albergues on the entire Camino are featured in this video. San Anton and Amanecer. San Anton is a small albergue nestled amongst what I believe was once an old hospital. It was originally founded in 1146, but the remaining ruins are from the 14th and 15th century. There is no electricity, and limited water. There were only a few of us there. The hosts cooked a great d...
Camino Part 5 | Beauty, Benediction and Burgos
Просмотров 11721 день назад
In this episode of the Camino de Santiago Francés I make my way toward the beautiful city of Burgos, but first the trail takes me through more scenic countryside. Along the way I stay at another donativo albergue located in a church. It was a memorable night, with a great communal dinner, an evening mass and benediction, but the sleeping arrangements were ... ummm ... less than ideal. Then it w...
I Lost My Passport 😬 Camino de Santiago | ep 4

In this episode of my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage I head toward the big city of Logroño, and along the way accidentally leave my fanny pack behind (no big deal, it only had my passport and wallet in it 😬). Spent a chill day in Logroño and had a communal dinner at a donativo albergue that slightly resembled a jail. Then it was onward to Navarrete where I did my first proper laundry in 3 weeks ...

In this episode of the Camino de Santiago I continue through the lovely rolling countryside and small villages of northern Spain. Along the way I come across some amazing trail magic, watch locals run with the bulls in Estella, tour an incredible blacksmith shop, and stop at the famous wine fountain. INSTAGRAM: iammikewindsor

In this second episode of my Camino de Santiago journey I leave the Pyrenees behind for the flatter but still beautiful Basque Country. Along the way I stay at my first Albergue, walk through the big city of Pamplona, and enjoy the rolling countryside and many small villages. Stay tuned for part 3! INSTAGRAM: iammikewindsor

In this episode I cross the beautiful Pyrenees Mountains which form the border of France and Spain. Enjoy and stay tuned for the next episode! INSTAGRAM: iammikewindsor
West Highland Way
Просмотров 952Месяц назад
I'm back! I spent 3 months in Europe this summer, and hiked 1,000 miles. The first trail I hit was the West Highland Way, starting in mid May. The WHW runs 100 miles across Scotland from Milngavie to Fort William. The scenery was nice, but the trail wasn't all that spectacular in my opinion (I'm sure there's better to be found in Scotland). That combined with the midges and ticks made for a hik...
Rafting the Grand Canyon | pt 2

In this video we finish the second "half" of our trip, from Phantom Ranch to Pearce Ferry. We hit a bunch of awesome rapids and had some great side adventures including Elves Chasm, Blacktail Canyon, Tapeats/Thunder/Deer Creek, Matkatamiba, and Havasu amongst others. We also celebrated Thanksgiving on the river and, a surprise to most everyone, Hunter and Lauren got married! What a trip. INSTAG...
Rafting the Grand Canyon | pt 1

Hiking the Hayduke through the Grand Canyon was an unbelievable experience, but while I was down there I couldn’t help but think how cool it would be to come back and raft the whole thing. So when a last minute opportunity came up to join a 20 day private trip this November I hopped on it! Rafting is definitely a bit different than backpacking, but over the course of the 280 miles I started to ...
Buckskin Gulch and Paria Canyon

After finishing the Hayduke Trail, Twig and I snagged a last minute permit to spend 3 days, 2 nights hiking Buckskin Gulch and Paria Canyon the 45ish miles from Wire Pass to Lee's Ferry. It worked out so perfect that our Hayduke friends Sky and Leah were also in the area and Sky was able to shuttle us (otherwise we were planning on hitching back ... would've probably been rough). It was a great...

In this episode Twig and I ... finish the Hayduke!! It was a long time coming. From Colorado City we walked out of town and eventually to the East Fork of the Virgin River. We followed this stunning river until climbing out and continuing overland across Zion toward Checkerboard Mesa and Highway 9 where we finished. A couple days later we returned and caught the shuttle bus to Weeping Rock (sad...

In this episode Twig and I exit the Grand Canyon via Kanab Creek (gorgeous!), then follow Hack Canyon out of the canyonlands and to the Arizona Strip. And we're back on the Hayduke! After sadly getting off trail at the South Rim (because of a closed trail and dangerously flooding streams) I spent the summer looking forward to coming back and finishing up this awesome route. I joined up with Twig (who I had met out there this spring) and together we set off from the North Rim. What an epic route. Saddle Canyon was fun (and intense), as was Tap...

Looking good MW!
All these videos have been so beautiful!
I agree, you do speak excellent English 😂❤
Yeah, you need an enclosed tent due to the midgees (and slugs lol) in Scotland. Climbing Ben Nevis appears to be more challenging. Dixie at Homemade Wanderlust did it recently (and 6 months pregnant too).
Muy bueno👏
Looks very nice!
Thanks! It was 🙂
great place and video! Glad you had that experience
Thanks!
epic vid bro - i thru'd it in 2017, planning to do it again - question, where did you find that 'while you can' remix around minute 23? cheers!
Thanks! Awesome man, such a great trail! I believe I found all the music I used for this video on Epidemic Sound
I wouldn't recommend wild camping up there. I've seen the remains of a sheep shred to pieces by wild boar there.
Wow crazy!
Very beautiful
Thanks!
Nice, calming, beautiful. Thanks for sharimg.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharin mike
For sure, thanks for watching!
Very nice! What a unique experience. Keep on hiking 🥾
Thanks, will do! 🙂🥾
Thank you for sharing your WHW-Adventure. Walked the trail by myself last year. Had good memories on your video. Enjoyed the trail much as you did. Well done!
Thanks, glad you had a great hike too!
Was enjoying your video until you started killing wildlife. So tone deaf that besides laughing about it in the moment, you decided to include it in your video. Clowns.
Which glacier is that at 18:13? This was an awesome video. I'm currently planning my high route trip for this Sept.
That’s the Sourdough Glacier. Thanks! Enjoy your trip, the Winds are so epic!
What an AMAZING video! Thank you so much for posting. A Colorado Mountain meditation for sure.
Smartest move you could have made!!!! Fuc$ wind river peak!!! That was the sketchiest shit I’ve done. Love the winds! Plan to go back in September doing another high route loop.
Just finished the lower Colorado last week with Tour West and it was amazing.
Did you guys actually find a route around that waterfall? I ended up just sliding down it. Only about a five foot drop, not too deep but definitely got wet. I didn't see any realistic way around it
We did! Twig had read about the bypass on Jamal’s Across Utah website. Otherwise I’m not sure we would’ve found it either. Haha dang that looked like more than a 5 foot drop, props to you!
GLAD I found this
Great video! Almost doesn't even look real, how was that hittin'?
Loved the Hayduke!
Great video! I'm hiking the Hayduke this spring and was considering a Jamal Green alt. into Escalante but I def don't want to miss any of the stunning scenery in this video. In your opinion would we miss a lot if we departed Muley Canyon just before (north of) Muley Tanks? thanks!
Awesome, have a blast on the Hayduke! I took the Baker/Stevens alt. Stevens Canyon & Arch and Coyote Gulch were definitely highlights of the entire Hayduke. I’d be hesitant to skip, as they are so good! But … if the alternate you’re looking at is also highly recommended by Jamal I’m sure it’d be great too. It’s hard to go wrong in some of these areas, and so many different options!
@@MikeWindsor Too many good choices, it'll be a tough call but your footage looked good, checking out Baker/Stevens now. Any other recommendations?
I’d look into alternates through Canyonlands NP. The official wasn’t too exciting
awesome, already have a backcountry permit with Canyonlands NP. Looked like the primary kind of skirts the park. @@MikeWindsor
Even with the rain, that looked beautiful! I look forward to checking out that area.
❤!
🐻 ..😮...
thanks Mike for taking us with you!!
Wow, what a route. It looked pretty brutal. I'm sure it is worth all those incredible views. I did the CDT section through the Winds last year. Awesome hike, but your route blows it out. Maybe next time. Take care!
Too bad about the views at Paintbrush, they are incredible. It still looked very enjoyable. I'll be taking a couple of friends out at the end of summer. Enjoyed the video!
Curious which camera(s) did you use?
Just my iPhone! Although I did bring my Olympus EM5 for stills
@@MikeWindsor rad! Thank you for the reply.
Mike, it was stunning 😊!! If only the rest of the world would go away !!!!! A place to get lost in, in body n spirit 😊. Well done. Music flows w it !!. I wish right down to the bone !!
Great video!!
Hi there, what camera did you use? Did you bring along a solar power charger as well? Thanks!
^^I'm going to add to my own Q, do you have a blog or video of the Hayduke gear you used? I just found your channel and will watch your cdt gear video but know that is a different place / time... planning on doing the Hayduke next year and love listening to how different people approach it. Thanks - Hello
Hey! Just my iPhone. No solar, but 2 10,000mah battery banks. I don’t have a specific Hayduke gear list or video unfortunately, but it was pretty similar to my CDT gear. Used a different pack with hipbelt, and had more water capacity. And some paracord for lowering pack when needed. Enjoy the Hayduke!
Love your videos, I’m so happy I found them. Thank you for what you do!
Thanks, appreciate it!
What would you choose, spring or fall hike? Congrats for finishing 😊
I’d go Spring! Weather was great. Plenty of water (too much in a few places haha). And more daylight.
I have in mind to try and hike Hayduke so these videos of yours come to me pretty handy 😊 Amazing work. I like your laid back type of energy. Keep on filming 😊
Thanks! Hope you get the chance to hike it, awesome route for sure!
Very nice video, I enjoyed it. I noticed that your videos are not reaching most of the people. Because your videos are not SEO and are not organically promoted to targeted audiences. As a result, according to your channel, your channel's videos are not watched, liked, or subscribed.
🍿 great, mike. looks like an awesome adventure. I guess Grand Canyon never disappoints
Mike, very informative video. I have a number of questions: do you mind? Bob
Sure! May be easier to send me an email or Instagram message?
@@MikeWindsor Hi Mike, I'd really appreciate your input on the following: 1. What maps did you use both digital and paper? 2. Which guide book did you use? 3. How many sections of the trail were you able to cache food and water? How long before the hike did it take to do those caches? 4. What was the typical mileage between resupplying water? food? 5. What time of the year did you go? 6. Any thoughts on doing the trail solo? I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Bob
Hey Bob! I’d recommend joining the Hayduke Trail Facebook Group if you haven’t. It’s a great resource. 1. I used Gaia with printed Skurka maps as a backup. 2. There’s only the one guidebook by Mike and Joe that I’m aware of. 3. I didn’t do any caches, with the exception of one at the mouth of Hack Canyon when I went back in the fall. 4. It really varies. You’ll need to do some research on this. Look at the water chart and different resupply/cache options. 5. I started April 1st, hiked Moab to South Rim. Then came back in the fall to finish SR to Zion. 6. I did most of it solo. If you have enough experience and enjoy hiking alone I don’t see why not.
@@MikeWindsor Thanks a million Mike. I have tried FB but not too much luck finding anyone to join in with. All the best. Bob
Beautiful. What time of year/month was this shot? 👍👍
Thanks! This was Aug of last year
Beginning, middle or end?
BTW, nice video What do you use for a camera
Thanks! This was Aug 19-20th I think. And just my iPhone for video!
Wish I knew about the kitchen spot at Many. Ended up paying 185 for a room :(
Bummer :(
