The Christmas celebration does not commence until Hans Gruber hits the base of Nakatomi Plaza! 😊
What can I say about Die Hard? First, it's a Christmas movie! The story takes place on Christmas Eve and ends on Christmas. It was advertised as a Christmas movie. You can look up the trailer. There are so many obvious Christmas references throughout the film. This includes the phrase "Merry Christmas" which is used 5 times and the word Christmas appears 18 times. Second, I absolutely love this film. Bruce Wilis, Alan Rickman and Reginald VelJohnson are wonderful. Hats off to Alan Rickman who is just a terrific sinister villain in Hans Gruber. I love Bruce as John McClane. It's a role that's just perfect for him. Reginald VelJohnson was also quite good as Sergent Al Powell. I love the story within the story in this film from Sergent Al. It leads to the very powerful ending that still gives me goosebumps every time I see it, which is every year because I watch this film Christmas week of every year since I first saw it including the very first Christmas I saw it! As always thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
I can't wait to watch the finale. It will blow your mind!
Really good episode and it's setting up the finale quite nicely. We now know that Mel is a mage and this makes so much more sense on how she was able to survive the attack from the end of season 1. Ambessa Medarda and a new evolved Viktor with an army of Arcane soldiers are coming to take the chaotic arcane from Piltover. Jace, in a pure act of desperation, has announced a general call to arms for literally anyone that can take up the fight. It seems like I've had to watch Vander die three times now and it hurt each time. Jinx is awol for now but I'm expecting big things in the finale and for all the players on the board to join the fight. As always thanks for watching!
This episode focused on Jace and Ekko/Heimerdinger. The chaotic arcane flung them through different realities it looks like. I believe that Jace was sent to a world where the chaotic arcane was allowed to destroy their world. We saw the remnants of a destroyed Piltover. It was very interesting seeing the Mage from Jace's childhood again. The Mage seems to be giving Jace a chance to prevent the worst of it from occurring in his time and reality. I'm so curious about the Mage but there's nothing to go on. Ekko and Heimerdinger were sent to a more peaceful reality where Heimerdinger arrived first and did a lot of good before Ekko's arrival. It was really tough for Ekko to settle in because he's a kid that's only known war and to be thrust into a peaceful reality where he and Powder are romantically involved was jarring to say the least. It's unfortunate he has to leave but he's not leaving empty handed. He sees what could be and has something to aim for. They discover that the chaotic arcane can be used to reset time but Heimerdinger has to sacrifice himself to send Ekko back. It was another really good episode and A LOT to think about. As always thanks for watching!
"You're alright, Jack. I think, maybe, under different circumstances, we probably still would have hated each other." LOL!
In the next life.
Midnight Run is one of my favorite Robert DeNiro movies and that's saying something because he has a massive discography. He delivers a great performance but there are also great performances by Charles Grodin, John Ashton, Dennis Farina, Yaphet Kotto and Joe Pantoliano. This is your standard buddy comedy film but there are small elements here and there that flesh out the story and ultimately give the film a lot of heart. Some of my favorites are the running glasses gag, "See ya in LA!" and my favorite scene in the film is Jack taking the Duke to his ex-wife's, hat in hand as he's desperate for any help to get to Los Angeles when his daughter walks into the room. It's a classic and one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. As always thanks for watching!
I love seeing that trio one last time. It sucks that John Ashton died shortly after filming but I think it's fair to say this last movie meant a lot to him and he had a lot of fun doing it.
Beverly Hills Cop Axel F felt like one last hurrah for the boys. A celebration of a very beloved movie franchise with the exception of 3 and it's funny that they even make that joke in this movie. Rest in peace to John Ashton who played Taggart. I've talked about it before but there are "background" actors for lack of a better term that you see them in movies all the time but you don't usually know them by name. John Ashton made a career out of consistently solid performances that kept him getting work but never led to a major starring role. He was always there as support but he was really good support in many films that I remember from my youth. He was good in this even at 76. As always thanks for watching!
This episode really bummed me out. We just got Vander back and now it seems he's gone again and Isha went with him. I'm not sure if what happened this episode is good because I said before that I'm not sold on Viktor's motives. It seemed like Viktor has good intentions but I can't shake the suspicion that the Arcane is an just inherently negative influence on their world and ultimately could very well lead to their doom. At the same time, Jace is definitely under the influence of chaotic arcane. It's interesting that the two friends are now opposed to one another. I'm not even sure if Viktor dies in the sense that we would use the word because the metaphsyics of the show is complicated and it's just difficult to rap my head around it sometimes. Having said all of that, it was a really good episode and gave me a lot to think about. As always thanks for watching!
This was an excellent episode and I really enjoyed it. The reveal of Dr. Reveck was a very big pay off moment to start the episode. We now know he was once a well respected and brilliant alchemist in Piltover. His daughter met with an accident or illness that resulted in her death and Dr. Revack has spent all this time doing everything in his power to curing death to bring her back. It was very nice seeing Violent, Vander and Jinx reunite as a family but I think it's pretty obvious that it won't last. Mel is apparently apart of some prophecy which is why the Order of the Black Rose is so interested in her. Jace looks like he's been through hell and he seems determined to oppose Viktor. As always thanks for watching!
Love this film. It's timeless.
Absolutely! I can watch this film any time!
Conan the Barbarian is a very special movie for me ever since I was a little kid. It was my introduction to Arnold and it's still my favorite move of his. A very close second is Terminator 2. Sandahl Bergman was my first celebrity crush and she was fantastic as Valeria. Gerry Lopez was great as Subutai. Makoto Iwamatsu was excellent as the wizard Akiro. Conan would not have gotten far without his friends and that's something worth remembering. James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom was the premier performance. I love a villain that can captivate the audience with a great line. The power in his voice alone lends itself to the idea that there's magic manipulating the listener which ties in perfectly with his character the shape-shifting, death and snake cult leader Thulsa Doom! I just wanted to say that it's been a lot of fun revisiting Arnold movies and I've worked through what I consider to be the best of his discography so we're going to be taking a break from Arnold. We're still going to be doing revisits as I'm enjoying the series week to week. I'll keep it a surprise for now but let's just say you know the actor that I'm going to be focusing on next if you know anything about movies. As always thanks for watching!
The Girl in the Spider's Web is exactly what I've come to love from this world. Great spy thriller filled with clever and intriguing characters. I loved the performances by Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salandar and Sylvia Hoeks as Camilla Salander especially. I was afraid that the lack of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara was going to bother me but all the actors did an excellent job and that concern quickly melted away. This is my second Fede Alvarez movie and I really like his style and pacing. I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and this matches up quite nicely. I'm a little motivated to read the books now. As always thanks for watching!
DOOM MUSIC!!! and then it sets you up for that great reveal. I love this episode!
This is the best episode of Season 2 thus far. Man, I was not expecting that! We see how the mad scientist drew Vander to him with his blood. I'm not sure why the mad scientist wanted to be jailed in the first place but he absolutely has a plan. Still would love to learn who he is and what he's all about but hopefully in time. I've been curious about him since I first saw him in season 1. A lot happened this episode but Vander has to be the focus. Having him back opens up so many possibilities for the future and my god what amazing art when he was on screen. As always thanks for watching!
This one's great but just wait until episode 4!
This was a great episode. Violet and Caitlyn tracked down Jinx. At the same time, Ekko, Jace and Heimberdinger are investigating the effect that the Arcane is having on their reality. That little girl that saved Jinx prevented Violet from dealing the finishing blow and then Caitlyn wanted to take the final shot anyway but Violet prevented it. The two have a falling out after Jinx escapes. It turns out that Ambessa Medarda set up the attack on the memorial as a way to galvanize Piltover and she has decided that Caitlyn has what it takes to be a strong Commander in Chief for Piltover as they wage war on the Underground. Mel Medarda has been kidnapped by the Order of the Black Rose. This is our first real glimpse of what they can do and they're very formidable. A ton happened this episode and I could go on for a while but one thing I have to mention is the ending. Tt's happened three times now where the episodes have ended with us getting a glimpse of the mad scientist guy that used to work for Silco. This time we saw what he's been working on. It looks like a giant werewolf and he's intravenously feeding it his blood. Something we're definitely going to see in the future. As always thanks for watching!

I love Charles Dance constantly insulting his boss. It's my favorite running gag in the film.
The Last Action Hero is a clever deconstruction of the typical Arnold 80s action popcorn flick that made Schwarzenegger's career. At times it openly mocks these cherished movie tropes in a way that can be off putting to the audience. As someone that was raised on Arnold movies and still enjoys them to this day, I absolutely love this movie. I can laugh at a lot of the ridiculous stereotypes of the hero that never gets hurt no matter what, the gun that never runs out of ammo, the villain that goes into a long winded monologue giving the hero time to escape, etc. It's fun. Arnold is great in this film. Charles Dance is an excellent villain and he delivers some hard hitting dialogue. Benedict traveling to the real world and realizing the difference between the two is a decision that the writers made and it took a lot of guts. "In this world, the bad guys can win." That's an incredibly dark scene to put into what was marketed as a kid's movie but I'm glad they did it. As always thanks for watching!
Overall I thought Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was a decent movie. The problem is it has to be compared to the previous film and it just falls short of that film in every way. It uses more CGI and less practical effects, the pacing is a bit off and while Anya Taylor Joy was good as Furiosa, you have to wait a full hour before she's on screen. Chris Hemsworth as Dementus had the best performance hands down. I also liked the minor characters the Historian and Praetorian Jack. While it was a decent film, it's not near as good as its predecessor and even though he made a very brief appearance, this film needed more Max. As always thanks for watching!
That arm that Jinx made is so damn good. A bit weird how it's a roll of the dice but really strong at the same time.
The second episode of season 2 had us touch base with the Underground and how they're dealing with the aftermath of the attack and the power vacuum from Silco's death. Sevika, Silco's Lieutenant, is having difficulty uniting the gangs and I think ultimately will turn to Jinx who made Sevika a new mechanical arm. It's whacky, over the top and also very effective in a fight. Jinx saved a little girl's life and now seems to have a new sidekick or maybe even a new apprentice. We got to see the strike team lead by Kate in action. They're systematically taking out gangs in the Underground and hunting for Jinx. We almost got direct confrontation but Jinx managed to slip away just barely. Probabl the most interesting thing to happen this episode is what's going on with Viktor. His time in the hex cube has changed him. It had me asking if we should still consider him human given how much he's been altered by it. I don't know quite what to make of it just yet but his ability to heal people from shimmer is interesting. Defintely something I need to see more of. As always thanks for watching!
Oh hell yeah! I've been waiting for this!
First episode back and it has a very somber funeral tone. More characters survived than I initially thought. I absolutely loved the art work in this episode. The shaded pastel where only Vi and Kate were in color was really well done. Jace rushed Viktor to his lab where he made the decision to put Viktor into the chaotic hex cube. It seems to be keeping him alive for now but I'm sure this won't end well. Ambessa Medarda has her claws into Salo, one of the surviving members of the council. After a very brazen attack by the Underground with Shimmer Super Soldiers, Kate has finally decided to take charge. She's formed a strike team with some new Enforcer recruits including Vi who donned the badge and uniform despite her family history. It was a solid first episode back and whereas the focus of this episode was almost entirely from Piltover's point of view, I feel the next episode will most likely be from the perspective of the Underground. As always thanks for watching!
Total Recall has the overall feel of your typical 80s classic over the top action Arnold film but it has a Sci-Fi twist that adds a little something extra to the film. It also has a really good supporting cast. Michael Ironside as Richter, Sharon Stone as Lori, Ronny Cox as Cohaagen, Rachel Ticotin as Melina and my personal favorite of the supporting cast, Mel Johnson Jr. as Benny. "Benny! Benny's the name!" You also have a rather interesting story where there are two basic interpretations to the film: everything the audience sees actually happens or we are seeing the result of his memory implant playing itself out. It's really well done because Arnold's character is constantly questioning his surroundings all the way up to the ending of the film. There's a lot of memorable scenes and it's one I love to Revisit from time to time. As always thanks for watching!
Apologies for being a bit off with the upload time, I was busy editing something and it slipped my mind.
Longlegs was definitely a strange one. So I was creeped out multiple times by this movie and especially the character Longlegs. While I did feel that Nicholas Cage's portrayal of Longlegs was offputting and creepy, it also had a comedic element to it that was unintentional and took me out of the film. I'm someone that enjoys a good serial killer movie or tv show. The Zodiac and Mindhunter are excellent examples of the concept explored both intelligently and in a way that I find fascinating. Having said that, the killer in those is human. The presence of the supernatural element in this film just allows the writing a free pass to dumb down the story. You don't have to explain the clever way that Longlegs commits these murders without ever being in the home because the devil. Half of the enjoyment that I get from a good movie/show about a serial killer is the detective work that goes into finding them. There's none of that in this film. The film also has the feeling of a movie that's on a budget. The little girl is the detective, the mother is the accomplice, the lead FBI agent's family members are the final victims. Overall it's just not a very appealing movie to me. As always thanks for watching!
This is a classic and was too funny. I like how Shonuff be talking all loud at people 🤣🤣
Finale always gets me. Vorenus was always my favorite.
He was my favorite too! Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo were a duo on par with Batman and Robin. I loved their friendship and I thought how the writer's used their stories as a vehicle for the main story line was brilliant writing.
The finale was just incredible television! Perfection! Shout out to James Purefoy and Kevin McKidd for their portrayals as Marc Antony and Lucius Vorenus. Really the entire cast has done a phenomenal job but in this episode, these two were clear standouts. I mean my god the acting of James Purefoy wailing as Marc Antony upon hearing the news of Cleopatra's death was just haunting and brilliant. That got me teary eyed immediately. Then what finally opened up the flood gates was seeing Kevin McKidd smile on his death bed upon being forgiven by his children. Rome is something very special and I'm grateful to my audience (Craigins, S-tier recommendation from you, Sir!) that put me onto it. This show is something I'll carry with me forever. I'm sad to see it go but I'm happy to have experienced it. As always thanks for watching!
Watching Titus Pullo finally learn the truth about Gaia poisoning Eirene and his immediate switch to hatred is so perfect!
Yeah. I knew it right before it happened.
When Marc Antony, Octavian and Lepidus were dividing up the Roman Empire to form the Triumvirate, Marc Antony took the East which has most of the income with the grain shipments from Egypt being largest portion of said income. Now that there's a public rift between the two, Marc Antony has withheld grain shipments to Rome to force Octavian into war. The people are starving and they don't blame Marc Antony. They blame Octavian. Octavian realizes that he needs to shatter Marc Antony's image as a man of the people, turn them against him to effectively deal with the situation so he dispatches Atia and Octavia to Egypt to be publicly rejected. Now that the Roman people see Marc Antony as a betrayer of Rome, they have rallied behind Octavian to go to war against Cleopatra and Marc Antony. It was very amusing seeing Memmio alive after Titus bit his tongue out. I'm also glad that Gaia finally got what was coming to her and that Titus finally knows the evil truth. I knew immediately how it would go. As always thanks for watching!
Twins is just such a refreshing oddball comedy. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito have such great chemistry together. This film delivers on the comedy but ultiatemly has a touching message about reuniting family. I have to say that Danny Devito had the best overall performance as Vincent but Arnold was great as Julius as well. It was a very refreshing revisit for me as I had not seen the film in years. As always thanks for watching!
I loved Joker. This was hard to watch in a bad way.
That's a good way of saying it.
Joker Folie a Deux is a cautionary tale. The first film was so successful because it painted this deeply disturbed individual in a sympathetic light. Society desperately latched onto Arthur Fleck as a symbol of their outrage and frustration with the failed systems that had become the prison of their lives. While there are shadows of that in this film, it's drowned in a sea of unnecessary musical theatrics and a terrible and underwhelming conclusion. Unfortunatley, the consensus opinion is the correct one. It would have been better if they just let the original stand on its own. As always thanks for watching!
Pullo biting out Memmio's tongue and going ham in that melee is always great to watch.
Octavian preaching about the morality and virtue of Rome is undercut by the actions of his own family and himself. It's nonsense that he wields for purely political reasons and much of this episode is him being shown just how hollow that virtue signaling really is. Atia and Marc Antony and Octavia and Agrippa are all involved in affairs while Octavian revealed that he gets off on violence during sex. Octavian fractures the Triumvirate upon being confronted with reality. Special shout out to Mascius for staying loyal even when questioned at knife point by Pullo. Third man, loyal man. It was so cool how they did that reveal where Vorenus remembered the toy that Memmio's man was playing with and Luscius was playing with a very similar toy. He connected the dots just in time and Mascius was spared. It's been a long time coming with Vorenus and his children, especially his elder daughter, Voreni. Vorenus feels it's best to leave Rome and go with Marc Antony to Egypt. Titus is now the man in the Aventine and he holds it down. It was hilarious watching Memmio lose his tongue and then Titus laying waste to his men. As always thanks for watching!
Servilia cursed Atia to her face then sealed the curse by sacrificing her own life. Shout out to Lindsay Duncon for her stellar performance as Servilia. I hate the character but have nothing but respect for the actor. Marc Antony, Octavian and Lepidus form the Triumvirate and divide up the Roman Empire. Marc Antony takes a bribe from Herod but doesn't share the spoils with Octavian and Lepidus. Octavian discovers it and a negotiation settles the dispute before it comes to violence. The peace is sealed with a marriage between Marc Antony and Octavia much to the chagrin of Atia. Voreni has become an accomplice of Memmio spying for him against Vorenus. She does not know as of yet that she's being manipulated but given recent history, it doesn't take much convincing to spy against Vorenus. Titus had an affair with Gaia and it seems Gaia is not prepared to leave it at a one time event. Gaia has secured an herb which can induce a miscarriage and I think it's clear she plans to use it on Eirene. I can only hope something stops this from happening. I'd very much be fine with the story of Titus and Vorenus to just stand still until the end of the show. Both have been through enough. As always thanks for watching!
Bill Duke is cold as ice. Always good to see him.
Let off some steam Bennett!
Commando is the most stereotypical Arnold's 80s action film. Cheesey one liners, over the top action, one man army hero, etc. It's very much a dumb action film, and yet, I still enjoy it. :) Sometimes you're just in the mood for some low stakes entertainment to get your mind off things and Commando is the perfect film to do it. As always thanks for watching!
This was a strange one but it's a good movie. Through the first half of the film, you're introduced to these mundane characters and nothing really is happening, and yet the entire time this introduction is playing out there's this almost horror element being introduced. The eerie music combined with the wide shots leaves the audience wondering when the other shoe is going to drop. And it does right about the half way point when Martin has decided that as revenge for Dr. Murphy killing his father from a drunken botched surgery, Dr. Murphy's entire family is going to get deathly sick and the only way to stop it is for Steven to sacrifice one of them. It reminds me of an episode of the twilight zone. The inexplicable power Martin has eventually compels Steven to choose. I don't know that I would recommend this to anyone because it's definitely a film that's going to be hit or miss. As always thanks for watching!
Another excellent episode. Adios to Brutus, Cassius and Cicero. It was well past time for these three conspirators to be removed from the board. I thought all three actors consistently gave good performances throughout the show, especially David Bamber who played Cicero. Octavian and Antony's plan worked perfectly. Cicero desperately tried to get warning to Brutus and Cassius but it arrived too late to matter. The trap had been sprung. I understand why Brutus went out the way he did. He couldn't face that shame again, they would either win or meet their end. There's some potential threats on the horizon for Vorenus and Titus. It appears that Memmio is up to something by sending one of his men to seduce Vorenus's daughter, to what end I do not yet know. Gaia is causing multiple problems as well. Getting into Mascius's head about only being the third man in the rankings and trying to seduce Titus. Titus has learned that he's to be a father and I'm hoping this news will cement in the good life he has but we'll have to wait and see. As always thanks for watching!
