Apparently they do, but I've never seen one for sale in the US.

Why would I want to adjust the output power? I want it at maximum all the time. The power wires should be soldered, I agree. But it is a work truck and I can't make anything permanent.

@ScuffedRadio likely the power will differ between say 137mhz vs 178mhz, lots of radios do that, through the service menu you can adjust it, also you can adjust the deviation and make sure it's transmitting on frequency, other then the power you sorta need special equipment tho. I guess if you have a second radio you can adjust the deviation by ear.

@@Yippynutsmacker I had it checked out by a commercial radio shop, they confirmed it was putting out full power on the ham bands, and the deviation is good.

I believe this is a 1050hz tone as well

@@ScuffedRadio mounted to rear bumper on left side . Just drilled hole through metal bumper and used a heavy duty connector. 05 Chevrolet 1500

I have since upgraded to a 5/8 for vhf and a small comet colinear for uhf. I'm only running uhf for the cross band repeater and it works wonderfully.

I have done 10 meters mobile before. All I heard every morning on my way into work was the same guy calling out of California (I'm in Alabama). Cool conditions for sure but I got bored instantly and went back to CB.

@@ScuffedRadio Thanks for your reply.. I have worked 10 meters between 12:00 and 15:00 and it varies... Some days it's a pile up and others nothing.. My QTH is Northeast Pa and most QSL's were South or south west...

You need a Single Sideband capable radio to get SSB stuff. My radio in the video doesn't have those features.

Lately ours has been not only going on and offline, but now the audio has started to develope a very strange garbled sound. It started screwing up during a tornado outbreak and was almost completely useless!

Why would that matter... it's literally a ham radio plate with my callsign on it.

According to the included manual, you're supposed to tune the bottom section (with the top installed) for best SWR where you want it, then tune the top for best SWR. That's what I've done two times now on two installs and it's worked for me. I have a 1:1.1 SWR right where I want it. Bandwidth is a little narrow but workable.

The 102" needs a spring because it is too short for the 11 meter band by default. The spring adds electrical legnth which brings it into tune on the desired band. The device under my mirror is a radar detector. It detects cops running speed traps so I get an alert before they can get my speed.

@@ScuffedRadio incorrect a g5 solar storm as seen on that day is capable of interrupting radios

@@interstellarsunset2951 It can effect reception of radios but a protected transmitter like the 1kw NOAA transmitter would not be effected by it. The worst the g5 did was block GPS signals.

Yeah i need a spring like that. I may take a trip down to Dodge City CB to get one soon Unfortunately I don't want to remove the hustler antenna so I'm just going to have to deal with whatever effect it has on SWR. Thankfully it's not a big impact.

just a note, i suggest you to put your wires inside a shrink tube, just to keep the water out

I'm an extra class, and I wasn't really confused why it was tuning up too high, I just wanted to try it before adding a spring.
