Welding a Sterling 10.5 Limited Slip Differential - Locker on the cheap!!
Lockers are a must if you want to do any type of serious wheeling. My 1 ton YJ has a welded Dana 60 front axle and a Limited Slip sterling 10.5 rear axle. The limited slip in the rear did almost nothing for me off road so its time to change that. Trying to ball on a budget, the best way to lock up the rear is to weld it. Welding a standard open diff is pretty straight forward but a limited slip has some extra steps and challenges. Well I'm jumping on the bandwagon and doing something I should have done a while ago. With my rockers trashed, it only makes sense to cut them out and improve the tub by adding boatsides. Is there any reason this could not be achieved with a 95 Rio Grande, 2.5L AX5? I need to replace my transmission crossmember and I will be welding on new frame brackets for the center. Just looking at mine and only looks like the exhaust might get in the way.

Great job! I’m going to be transplanting a 1963 Scout 80 onto a YJ frame. This kit addresses the the wheel base issue perfectly. Beats a cut/splice/ fish plating the frame.

Its not a limited slip, no slippage can occur with welded gears it just a lincoln locker

Alright so have a question about the rear. I know in an old video you Said you where going move the rear hanger to be able to use the yj springs instead of the xj springs. Any cons on doing that instead of the xj's?
will a resonator delete pass inspection?
yes the only thing a resonator does is muffle the drone of the engine

Thank you! you’re welcome, I’d definitely recommend a bead roller to cut down on some of the skeleton but it still got the job done. I’m actually going to be making some modifications to the floor this year to adjust for a change in the build.

So simple! I wish I could have bought something like that 25 years ago during my wheeling days. You should route all your auxiliary electrics through the panel (fan, ignition, winch, radio etc)

I love my Auxbeam switch panel. Works great. Love how you can program the strobe feature to the lights.
So far I’m liking it too! Seems like it has pretty much all the features of the more expensive brands at a way more affordable price. Obviously I want to support American made products but most everything is made in China now a days. Excited to hook more up to it
