Hey Mickey. Perhaps you can clear something up for me. Towards the end of the video you state that using a double deviation on a handrail is not permitted, however... wasn't the whole video prior to that describing the correct way to do exactly that? I'm guessing my confusion arises from semantics so I'm hoping you will set me straight. Thanks for the videos!

Does the alpine butterfly easily untie? Is it a strong knot? I am trying to tie two ropes together to drag things and be able to untie the knot.

15:10 I do rope access in tight spaces (attics) small people are the best to use.

Can you tension a line to tight? Is it safe to work with it past the critical angle?

Have you ever done this in a real scenario with a 200+lbs rope tech while hanging ?? All the videos I see are done with light weight.

I would like to know how Kirsten managed to do nursing and work at a tree care company at the same time when she started out in the industry. I am currently working in plastic molding industry as a setup technician and am at this roadblock of trying to figure out how to do part time work to get working experience in the tree care industry. I've been working / playing on my family's farm properties, climbing for almost 3 years now, using chainsaws and felling trees for 5 year. Also, I work in London, ON. Small world.

nice and easy to understand, just one but… you should use two slings and two carabiner for. your work rope and twos of the same for your safety rope what’s the point having your work rope and your safety rope attached to the same anchors, at least you should use three anchors, what I mean here is that your safety rope is here to stop a potential fall in case of either your work rope or your anchors fails, for the benefit of the discussion just consider your ropes(either one) are unfailable ( as it should be) your anchors are not resulting in safety issues

In terms of qualifications: in Germany, there is igvw SQQ2 Rigger Level 1-3. IGVW is an industry organization (Interessensgemeinschaft Veranstaltungswirtschaft) and SQQ2 stands for Standards of Quality - Qualifications II. The three levels correspond to the three levels of your typical rope access qualification and each level incorporates different modules, including fall arrest system usage, truss and rigging material expert (Sachverständiger für Traversen und Anschlagmittel) rigging calculations, first aid and FISAT level 1/2/3. I believe that you can also get these modules recognized if you did them elsewhere, so if for example you have already done a first aid course of a certain size not too long ago, you don't need to do it again for this certification. Also, you need to work a certain amount of hours as a rigger of that level each year to retain your qualification or qualify for getting the next one. Having that rigging certification is key to working as a rigger here. If you're an employer and one of your riggers has an accident while rigging, you're in for a world of trouble if you can't prove that they have this certification as it's recognized industry-wide. For someone wanting to do rigging occasionally on the side of a regular theatre job, it's not a good thing at first sight because the need for working the hours makes that goal appear impossible. But in the grand scheme of things, it's a good thing and I'm even more convinced about that after hering Siobhan's stories of how unqualified they were for the work they were doing. I think it would be beneficial if a similar qualification (system) existed in North America.

Great Video. Would recomend to show a new rope replacing the backup line, so there is no confusion when lowering a load on a longer lower system. Yeah its probably obvious but just thinking of the confused level 2 trying to figure it out. Great video, simple, easy to understand. Will be showing your videos in my class next week!!!! I like the Y hang with a reanchor, but why not just use extra descenders - 4 and why not use bunny ears on your anchors, if its about redundency?

It took us 1 hour to learn how to use the grion and then self educated from there i work in the Crane and rigging Industry and i love mine building towercranes

Best knot ever and absolutely my favourite in all his variations! Thanks for the video! I still can't understand if it's an approved knot or not by IRATA, I know it's not in the syllabus but some people say yes you can some people say no you can't use it. I personally don't understand why it should be forbidden especially if backed up with a barrel or fisherman knot.

Öh boy! One. Fill the double fish with a key. It will be stonger and easy to open! Two. There are two different 8knotst. Strong and easy open / weak, dificult open. Some pepople do it right but not deliberately. I do Twin knot ( EDK 2 times and 1 filling.

When rigging a large y hang for Sprat and Irata are you supposed to double everthing up connectors, slings, ext, whenever exceeting 1.5 meters with no hazards. It only makes sense to do this but i havnt been able to find it in the safe work practice for Sprat.

Be interesting what force they would produce on a FF1. I’m sure a knotted cow tail would reduce forces sub 6kn on a FF1.
