30 minutes Sunday bike ride in Stockholm city center (and a detour to view the sakura)
This is the second part of the bike ride that celebrated the arrival of spring (first part here: ruclips.net/video/NJ6BHGhS2SQ/видео.html). I started near the city hall then passed by the central train station and made a detour by the sakura trees in Kungsträdgården. They were in full bloom and I wanted to see the crowds (an unusual sight in Stockholm!).
I ended the ride in Kastellholmen, a small island. There is normally a boat where I ended the video, but without it, we have a better view of Gröna Lund, an amusement park ideally located close to many museums and touristic locations.

First Spring Ride of 2023 in Stockholm
Просмотров 295Год назад
Finally a warm(ish) day! Spring is late this year, it is now May and trees have just started budding. During this first warm ride of the year, I crossed Södermalm, Stockholm's hipster central, then Gamla Stan, the old town, to end up near the most visited museum in the city (and in scandinavia): Vasa Museum. Cycling to the best sakura viewing locations in Stockholm

Spring is finally here! And the cherry blossom are here to remind us. Kungsträdgården is the most famous parc where we can enjoy the flowers. It is also super crowded, which is why I went very early on a Sunday morning. Lumaparken is not as famous and outside the city center so it is quieter. Route: goo.gl/maps/HEZztknsuUkCUCyL8
Peaceful morning commute from Lidingö to Stockholm
Просмотров 3602 года назад
Spring will be here soon, the ice and snow are completely gone, cycling is easier now. This is "rush hour". It is amazing how calm the city is and how safe it is to cycle here. On this commute, 85% of the way is cycle lanes. Actual safe, wide, separated lanes. Luxurious! The bridge at 9:20 will soon be replaced by a new one, on the right, so I'll try to include the old one (its name literally m...
First video in Stockholm! Winter ride from Lidingö to Strandvägen

First video in Stockholm and also first time cycling on icy roads and snow! The video starts on the only bridge connecting the island of Lidingö (where I live) to Stockholm. This old bridge will soon be replaced with a new, larger one. A true cycling highway with 4 lanes! I can't wait to try it out. I only realized it when editing the video: 100% of the trip was separated from motor traffic! Th...

Final video in Paris! Watch until the very end to see where I will be from now on. For this last video I went on almost all bridges upstream from Pont des Arts. Downstream bridges were a bit too complicated due to streets poorly accessible to bicycles. I would have to make long detours on basically highways (Quai des Tuileries, Quai François Mitterrand). A few bridges are missing due to traffic...

I'll be moving out of France soon (wait for the next video around January... subscribe if you don't want to miss the reveal!), and what better way to enjoy my last days than by having cheese? One thing for sure: I won't miss motorists parked on cycle lanes... They usually don't dare to do it in Paris itself, but once you cross the boulevard périphérique (ring road), cycle lanes become unofficia...

Cycling in Paris - Cité Universitaire - Musée d'Orsay

This was the first warm day of the year. I decided to start in Cité Universitaire, the old campus where students can live in buildings managed by various countries. It was created between world wars to promote cultural exchange and, ultimately, peace. The rest of the ride is an easy, slightly downhill, path. Mostly unprotected, but roads are large enough. The finish is on a bridge in front of M...

Cyling ROUTE JJOO PARIS 2024... VICEVERSA.. (RUE LEPIC-MONTMARTRE)
Attractive cycling. Subscribed. Keep cycling with safe!
You almost have a Dutch way of cycling, neglecting red traffic lights 😂
You have a very selective memory I stopped at: 7:09 8:02 12:04 13:41 15:15 9:00 9:24 9:38 I didn't stop because the light had a sign below (triangle pointing down) that allows cyclists to pass on red if there is no traffic (notice how I stopped to let the car pass at 9:38). This is like a yield sign only for cyclists that supersedes the light. I did ran a couple or red lights at the end of the video near the Louvre though. Thanks for making me look at that video again, good memories :D
hi! sorry if you answered this under another video, what bike is that? love your rides!!
Thanks! It's a BMC AC02 One from 2020
Great looking video!
Nice bike paths.
So the Scandinavian saying is true: Stockholm was designed by God, Kopenhagen was designed by a King and Oslo was designed by a civil servant.
Love your rides
Wow, beautiful from start to finish! It is really amazing how little you had to interact with cars. I love all the pedestrian streets!
Thanks! I agree it's really nice to be separated most of the time. And when there's no dedicated infrastructure, traffic is slow enough to be safe.
Aguanten las bicis!
Sensational video!! You are a great asset to the RUclips channel. You have captured the exquisite architecture covering many kilometres. The real joy is to watch it all at a much faster pace, which is a lot more enjoyable than tthe average walking city tour. It really shows Paris is improving the bike lanes for 2026. Long live the joys riding the bicycle throughout the city center. Please make more videos like this one cycling in between each building and down the coble streets. My only recommendation would be to include less of the open spaces like the parks and raise the camera angel slightly higher to capture more of the buildings and less of the road surface.
Thanks! I will not shoot Paris anymore since I moved to Stockholm, but I like your tips and will use them in new videos when spring finally arrives in a few weeks.
Chest-mount is good, but this mount/view is perfect!! Seems too smooth to be a handlebar mount...how did you do it??
It was a handlebar mount 😁 gopro stabilization is really good
@@urbandreamist very well-done, thank you!
Appreciating the little effort. But needless to say, that's not how it's properly done. The bike lanes should be positioned alongside the sidewalks and the cars should be parked beside the road. In fact the sidewalk and the bike lanes should be both elevated ted from the road by like 2 feet.
Seems sorta half hearted to me. Not even an elevated separation from the road but just painting the road with some occasional poles. It's not like they can't afford them... 😑 It's like one of the richest cities on earth!
thank you so much for all these. it is so hard to find bike videos with live outdoor sound and no shitty music. wish the handlebars weren't in frame but for the good sound, which helps so much with immersion, I'll live with it.
thank you for excellent live sound and no cheesy music!!
Merci beaucoup.
This seems like the best time of the day to cycle in Paris?
What an incredible back drop!
The next big thing for bikes needs to be a cup holder for the front bars!
I never thought about it, but "bike cup holders" are definitely a thing according to google. Genius
@@urbandreamist It was just when you had the tea and not having the second hand to control a break or for a sudden movement of someone in front could cause a tea disaster. Great news, must have a look now! Are they on Amazon?
@@DadThatCooks There is an endless number of them on amazon. Specialized bike stores have a very limited choice (sometimes nothing at all), I guess it's an unusual item.
What kind of bike are you riding?
That's a BMC AC02 One (Alpenchallenge One would be the new equivalent)
We had Hanami Celebration in May in Finland! ruclips.net/video/JY7Y5O6ZFts/видео.html
Merci for the memories. I cycled from Chatelet to Versailles and back once in the 80s. Got lost and ended up scared to death on a motorway, had to be rescued by a petrol station employee and finally made it to chez Marie Antoinette & Co. Cobblestones everywhere back then... my ass is still sore.
Love Stockholm. Question: what is hidden behind the wall on the Golden Bridge? What is this project?
😉enjoying the video here in Brazil
A very enjoyable ride. Did you make up your route beforehand or just make it up on the day? I enjoyed the point of view, but I like the chest mount as well. Good stuff.
Another great ride. You should rename it ‘How a pigeon nearly knocked me off my bike!’ Your hits will skyrocket.
I remember taking the tram to Lidingö and wondering how the bike commute is, now I know :)
Great bike ride man :) and welcome to Stockholm:) I love that you have a BMC :))
Thanks! So far I haven't seen a single other BMC here. I feel like such a hipster :D
@@urbandreamist hahaha it’s all right, it’s just not the first choice but it’s a cool bike nevertheless. I have a Trek, not many had that when I got it and it looks like a tank so I always get the “eyes” too but it’s fine :)
I wanted to go out today to Kungsträdgård but then I thought “nah, it’s gonna be full with people”?:) Btw when did you bike there?? No one in Gamlastan, is this like 5am?:)
I went there last Sunday at 7am, to avoid the crowd :) I also went the Saturday before and it was sooooo crowded. I figured I'd have to be really early if I want to be able to film under the "tunnel"
@@urbandreamist yeah that’s right , I think now I might be too late, the blooms will be gone :))
What an interesting diversity of neighborhoods. I love the cobbled narrow streets and historic buildings best, but it's great to see the contrast with the more modern areas as well.
Also, now that you are biking in Sweden, have you discovered the Turf Game? I know it's much more popular in Sweden than most countries. I don't know if a biking-based game interests you, but it might be a fun way to explore your new city.
@@karlahovde That's a great idea! I actually like these games, I played Ingress for a while, Turf looks very similar. Thanks for the tip!
Wow, I have not been for so Long in Stockholm.
You're living in Stockholm now?
I am :) Loving it so far, the city is great
Good job!! Better without the high frequency sounds
Ahah you noticed. I tried to remove them but it's not very successful... I finally found out that the shielding in my recorder is useless and it gets interference around things like mobile base stations. I think I fixed it by adding aluminium foil around certain components, we'll see after I use it a bit more.
It's amazing how much of the route is free from cars!
Yes! And now I can't go to Twitter anymore to post videos of stupid drivers being dangerous... Safe and boring (I like it)
Tremendous video. I really enjoy the unedited, natural style of the video and the chest mounted viewpoint. I also appreciate how you add the street names as you go. Out of interest, what sort of video equipment are you using?
Thanks Mark! I use a GoPro 8 and a Tascam DR-05X for audio, with a "dead cat" to limit wind noise. There is just one thing I dislike with the Tascam: it is too sensitive to radio interference, you can hear it sometimes in my latest video. And I always forget to put my phone in airplane mode...
I just love your rides😍
*another cool video riding with Urban Dreamist, thanks! note: here in Brazil we never have snow, only in some states in the south near Argentina and Uruguay, even so little.)
Neat to see a new city! Good luck learning winter biking skills! It is definitely a new skill to learn to bike in cold and snowy conditions. I found it most difficult to learn how to dress so I don't overheat, but I also keep my hands and toes warm. This winter I bought pogies, also called bar mitts, for my bike handle bars, and they are wonderful!
Thanks for the tips! I looked up pogies, they looks neat. I was also considering regular mittens. Gloves are definitely not enough when it is really cold.
@@urbandreamist I find mittens make it hard to shift or grab my brakes. I like pogies because I can wear very thin gloves inside and maintain dexterity.
Thanks for the ride! New landscapes and Nice video as usual!
very relaxing! looks like Moscow, same piles of snow everywhere. do you like it there?
It is great here, very relaxed compared to Paris. I guess people feel better when they have more space and nature close-by.
@@urbandreamist Nice! Keep up your great videos and be safe out there! As always - hearty "privet" from Mother Russia!
