Dust Bowl Elevated Horror.. would could go wrong? Well, just about everything. This movie was so derivate and boring, it's bad even for a direct to streaming horror movie. Don't hold your breath that this one will be any good. Enjoy!

Watched it when i came out. Its solid. Kind of like a Before I Wake vibe.

To be fair I loved Gone Baby Gone. It was strange since it really wasn't my style of movies.
@@arberreka2242 don't think I've ever seen that one tbh
I hated this movie. Truly. And honestly, the fact that so many people love this movie shows just how desensitized Americans are to the concept of rape and sexual assault.
Yeah of all the movies to die on a hill for, this is not the one I anticipated would fuel so much disagreement and anger. No idea what movie everyone else watched because this was terrible. Thanks for commenting
@@SeanKennyYT yea, and honestly the movie could have been saved had it went the direction where the women take over, torture the men, etc. to give the movie a meaningful message but that ending was just ridiculous.
@@jnicole6977 true, I think it would have just been better if It played more like a mystery of what's going on, whodunit etc. And not have been so in your face exploitative because it made the entire thing feel unwatchable

Yes, those movies that you just watch, have a good time and that's all.
This movie was a hot bowl of diarrhea. A bunch of mid-women get invited to a billionaire's island and they have to drug them in order to have sex. That's it. That is the whole movie. Then when the women turn the tide, the men are all cowering behind their bedsheets. This movie exists on "opposite day" on planet Earth
Sweet. Hope it has a Trick R Treat vibe. Underrated Halloween flick. Is the music synthwave? lol
@@ThepowderbluesForum definitely more of a Goosebumps vibe than Trick R Treat. I love that movie
@@SeanKennyYT Looking forward to it. Best time of year is October.
@@ThepowderbluesForum can't beat October. But ya this movie is more of a goosebumps movie/stranger things vibe to it, in case I didn't use the right words in the review

@@SeanKennyYT I hope i really liked that movie. Creeped me the hell out. lol Its always the low budgets that do me in. Houses That October Built. Blair Witch Project. Paranormal Activity. Terrifier. VHS series. Most of my favorite horror flicks are cheapies.
@@ThepowderbluesForum there's something special about atmosphere and creativity to make a low budget film work
I took a chance on it Monday, since I had some free time and I have a Regal Unlimited membership. I was one of only two people in the auditorium for a 1pm matinee. I really liked it as a character study and a dark family drama; I just think that marketing it as a horror film might disappoint some of the horror fans, especially those expecting blood and violence. The horror aspects are more psychological and metaphorical. I liked the cast and all of their chemistry very much, though. I'm glad I checked it out over all. Many people, especially those going through mental illness, anxiety, depression, or grief, will relate to this one.
@@ronpotts6385 yeah, the mismarketing for these kinds of movies is always a recipe for failure, but I agree with just about everything you said. Glad you had a good time with this one, thanks for the comment!
I just ask that we at least respect the message behind this film, I know it's hard as men to understand what it's like to be a woman at the mercy of such sadist situations, but being an assault victim myself, this movie really hit different for me. I am always open to people's opinions, but just remember that this movie covers very sensitive topics that involves trauma that every day women experience and have to go through. I love how empowering the women were in this movie especially frida. I feel like men are going to think the ending was stupid because you have no idea what it feels like to be in frida's shoes or her perspective. I loved watching her take the power reigns after knowing that slater was abusing his seat in the power chair. This movie is indeed for all the women who have been battered and abused by men, and must overcome their trauma, hold their heads up high, and take these bastards down for treating us as inferior. So while anyone is bashing this movie just at least keep that in mind. I rest my case.
@@mushroomchocolate3754 1. I mentioned the message of the film in my review and said that intention and execution are completely different. I got the message I just don't think it was done well. 2. Be careful assuming men "have no idea" what it's like to be in that situation, men get abused too. Once again I get the ending as well and why it was made, I just think it makes Frida unlikeable and just as bad as he is. Reciprocating abuse is a terrible message imo
it was really bad not a horror movie

I was rather impressed by this movie. It balanced satire and gross-out horror well. It was vicious but never got to the point of being mean-spirited and there was a nice element of tragedy. There was a definite similar feel to The Stuff, updated for a more narcissistic and voyeuristic age. Pleasantly surprised, especially by the performances of Demi Moore and the actress playing Sue.
@@kaosblatte the actress who played Sue was great in another movie I saw a while back called Sanctuary. I believe it's on Hulu. I recommend it, but it's very very strange lol
I agree. Oddity was fantastic. As an author of those types of stories, I was jealous I didn't think it up. Well done! One those jump scares just about stopped my breathing:)

@@Dontannoyme34894 ya the trailer shows a lot because it was a scene for scene remake. I thought it was fine, but a strange choice to remake

@@MRombo some of the people I saw spring breakers with loved it as well, but definitely wasn't for me. Id rewatch that one before I sat through Blink Twice again though
Blink twice is a Diddy party

@@chs_ambs8356 good catch, love that movie. I meant more so movies he stars in and leads
I am tired of this trend of "directing/screenwriting as therapy" where these self-absorbed nerds stretch the skinsuit of a genre over some asinine projection of their personal psychodrama. They are inflicting this dull nonsense on people that just want to have a good time. I feel bad for the actors in this movie, because they are putting their heart into it trying to inject some life into this snoozefest, but there is only so much an actor can do when the script and direction has failed them like this.
@@kaosblatte I'm getting there myself. I'm still open to the occasional "elevated" film, if it's creative and done well. But it feels like that's all we get now and they usually suck. I'm sure the average movie goer who doesn't watch as many might enjoy things here, but this one almost put me into a coma
@SeanKennyYT The fundamental issue is a lack of respect. The people making this stuff don't really like horror. They think it is a played out genre that has no value at its face, only as a vehicle for social commentary or exploring their personal traumas or some other garbage. These people are making movies for an audience of one, and that's why these movies fall short.
@@kaosblatte agree with that. I think that's why the Terrifier franchise is just chugging along. It's one of the few directors/franchises that is willing to give fans an old school horror movie, love it or hate it.
Another bulls eye review I guess!

Maybe last comment on this movie, since I didn't like the original. The message can't justify a weak plot, that was my problem.
@@arberreka2242 I completely get it. I'm not fanatical about the original, I just think all it really has is a message
Kinda agree. Didn't get so much in depth of it, but ok.
Only people who liked this garbage was woke people and feminists for the whole plot behind it. The story made sense and I respect the message but at the same time they did it the wrong way and the acting was horrible. Most cringe movie and acting I’ve seen in a bit! Main two woman had almost no depth in their characters and the whole message just spreads woke feminism about how woman should slay. I get the message but it’s done so poorly and horribly plus I wouldn’t doubt the scenes gave some people anxiety…. I just need to add this and im sorry but not sorry, people need to stop being snowflakes and men need to grow a pair and start speaking on what they really want to speak on. Too many men have been feminized and it’s crazy to think what our world has come to!
