The Shade (2024) - Movie Review. Haunting Tale of Grief and Anxiety

- The Shade is one of this year's most deliberate and difficult watches - but if you can get into it, I think it's one of the years best. If you like horror that tackles serious subjects of mental health and loss, similar to the Babadook, I highly recommend you check this one out. Enjoy!

Appreciate you Sean, thanks so much for watching.
@@tyler_p_chipman thanks for the comment! You did a phenomenal job with this film. Makes me interested to find the short I heard it's based on. If you'd ever want to possibly discuss it, get in touch!
Nice breakdown man.
@@joey86bu1 thanks 👍
I took a chance on it Monday, since I had some free time and I have a Regal Unlimited membership. I was one of only two people in the auditorium for a 1pm matinee. I really liked it as a character study and a dark family drama; I just think that marketing it as a horror film might disappoint some of the horror fans, especially those expecting blood and violence. The horror aspects are more psychological and metaphorical. I liked the cast and all of their chemistry very much, though. I'm glad I checked it out over all. Many people, especially those going through mental illness, anxiety, depression, or grief, will relate to this one.
@@ronpotts6385 yeah, the mismarketing for these kinds of movies is always a recipe for failure, but I agree with just about everything you said. Glad you had a good time with this one, thanks for the comment!

2023 right? Requesting this on my movie site.
@@ThepowderbluesForum I believe it was made in 2023 and got an official release in 2024 so that's probably the one
@@SeanKennyYT Copy that. It doesnt show the cover for the request. Just says The Shade 2023. Thanks looking forward to seeing this.
@@ThepowderbluesForum np. Let me know what you think, I'm curious what others think of this one. Idk if you watched the review, but it's kind of like a dudes version of the Babadook
@@SeanKennyYT I hope i really liked that movie. Creeped me the hell out. lol Its always the low budgets that do me in. Houses That October Built. Blair Witch Project. Paranormal Activity. Terrifier. VHS series. Most of my favorite horror flicks are cheapies.
@@ThepowderbluesForum there's something special about atmosphere and creativity to make a low budget film work
