Love the analysis of the details here, thank you so much for all that info! Personally, I also love that scene bc it feels half horror, half seduction AND sensual without sexualising/objectifying Lady Fenring, which is how such seduction scenes are often portrayed. Fantastic work.

My personal Most Underrated moment in Dune is the transition from this scene to the next where Margot is reporting back to the Reverend Mother and we go from the peak of everything this scene built up to, the very moment Feyd is about to put his hand in the box and as the viewer we're already thinking back to Paul's test at the start of Part 1 and we're expecting something on that level but instead we get the rug pulled out from under us by what almost feels like a smashcut to the reporting back and Margot just casually being like "Oh yeah, Feyd LOVED the box!"

I love how Feyd is utterly selfish, psychotic, but Fenring is the same. She gets what she wants, and except for a moment with the knife near her neck, she is in control of herself and of him. Her unknown advantage is that Feyd has a parallel bloodline to Paul, and has precog-dreamed of being with her, no doubt good intimate dreams, so he is already disposed to not killing her. He would also have had dreams which came true so he knew that a night of pleasure was ahead once he met her, but he wouldn't know that it was entirely her plan.

I love Jessica Ferguson in Dune 2, such a great actor. The scene where she's forced to drink the water of life, so realistic her reaction to someone being offered to drink something they are worried about. I think I have had similar things put in front of me at parties and told to drink that I was afraid of and did not react as convincing. The scene where the Harkonnens are chasing them in the very beginning, where they walk up the dune and then launch into the air and flout up to the top of the mountain, so cool and tactical. I fantasise about how valuable that ability would be in that role, how insidious it would be for operators to just drop in so quietly on the unsuspecting. The betrayal of Chani at the end when Paul takes the hand of the queen, and Chani is the only one standing up and turns and walks out.

no ... this movie feels extremely artificial, I was not drawn in for one second. I was amazed by the geometry of the frame, the camera angle, the chill-inducing music, Chalamet and Sandaya sitting on a dune in Dune costumes ... but I was not on Dune or inside the story of Paul Artreides for even a single second for this entire 2 part movie. Sorry... this was really well done on a technical and design level, but in terms of "immersive storytelling" - a complete failure. 3:10 not knowing where to look will take you out of the movie. In a good movie, you will just experience the story, not be thrown out of the frame like that.

None ofwhich are in the book. And that ''Romantic'' scene as you put it(God knows why, he's a psychopath) didn't happen like that and I'm confused as to why they did it like that. Margot Fenring in the book was very tall, stately and greeen eyed and Feyd Rautha was as small as Paul with dark ringletty hair. I give up on why screenwriters chanfge books so drastically. Either stick close to it or bloody well write something original yourselves!!

Well considering Paul is born from an Arteries father and Harkonnen mother, and the Lisa Al-Gaib Wass the mother and child. Well Feyed Ratha killed his mother there was no way he could ever meet that part of the prophecy. Also how do we know the Fremen didn't drain the bodies before burning them? I mean the worms were pretty full from devouring the Sardaukar Army, Also let's not forget the Sardaukar was an army believed to require all of the great houses to beat together. Yet Paul concurred them and the Harkonnen army with the Fremen alone.
