The Best Way to Make a SMALL HOLE in Cardboard! (5 Quick and Easy Hacks)
cool video Nice work bro!
Any ideas on the best way to curve a cylinder? I have a 1/4” thick heavy duty cardboard cylinder used as a core for a roll of industrial vinyl. I want to use it as the base of a diorama I’m working on. The front half off of the tube will be exposed but I’d also like the tube itself to have a slight 5-10 degree curve forward. I’ve played around with a couple different methods but every time I try to connect the crescent shaped wedges I’ve cut they never seem to curve as smoothly as I’d like. Each seam has too sharp of an angle instead of one continuous smooth bend. Anyone ever try anything like this or have any ideas on what I could try to do differently?
Why do you not use the super thick hard kind that comes in a big screen TV box? It's not easy to but most of the work has been done as far as hardness
Thank you so much Vro❤i was about to backflip off a cliff and break all my bones but this wonderful glorious video saved my life
The next show-review of a metal nail.
I’m not allowed to use blades so I have to use scissors
I came here because i got my glue stick stuck and I used the pencil method and my pencils stucl
I have a stronger card board axe but I don't have a RUclips channel
Root and cap (welding reference)
But is there ANOTHER way to cut the cardboard? You all saying this huck is genius, so I'm wondering did you cut just with your teeth and nails before? The video is literally like: "draw the circle first and then cut it slowly". You wasn't know you can do it before??
My glue gun says let it heat up for 5 min. Before using? Should i load the glue stick after or before heating it up? Also is there a temp outside where if it is too cold it will not work?
Thank you for the question. You can load a glue stick in before or after it is heated up. Just be sure not to pull the glue stick out once you've stuck it inside. After you load a glue stick for the first time, there will always be at least part of a glue stick still inside the glue gun when you heat it up. In theory, there is an outside temperature that would make a glue gun unusable because it would not be able to melt the glue. But I've never researched or done any testing about this. So I can't say how much it will affect the glue gun. That being said, I think you would notice a larger effect on how quickly the glue dried after it got out of the glue gun. colder outside temperatures would mean that you have less time to work with the glue before it cools down.
Will try it on my cardboard arcade stick project! Gotta cut 10 30mm holes really close to each other, my first attempt was disastrous because I've used a screwdriver to cut through the cardboard (I forgot exacto knives were a thing lol)
Thank you for the info and the blessings most of all may God bless you too 🙏🏻
fun fact: my sister once used a pencil in a hot glue gun i bought with some christmas money which completely destroyed it. (it was a mini glue gun)
Haha as I just burnt my fingers 4 times in a row
I use canvas or linen cloth which I glue to the cardboard using Decoraters PVA. It's easier to make the object (for me it's usually a box or covering a book) first and then cover with the cloth. I have used canvas or hessian up to now, but my next project is to make myself a very lightweight Pochade box for plein air painting. So it must be lighter than one made with wood or metal but it must also be waterproof. So thus the linen. I will adhere the linen with the PVA, and then coat the exterior with acrylic gesso so that it's waterproof and I can also decorate it with my own design.
Congratulations! Please use your privilege to the advantage of those less fortunate.
What if you use the back of the pencil and the bottom comes off how can you get it out ?
Amazon sells a Microserrated boxcutting knife $8 if you just need to break boxes down. Is a basic 4in blade and handle, very fast for normal shipping boxes
very useful tips. thanks!
"Fatial" ???
Here's another tip, for against the grain, use a mug, or hard rounded surface to create an even curve.
I absolutely love this video. Its super useful and easy to follow. Ima use these skills to make some cool decorations around the house
The funny thing is Dremel WAS the cheap tool to buy when it first came out. The tools it duped were big professional units. In my book, it's always cheaper to put out the extra money for quality. Also, when it comes to electric items a lot of the parts in higher quality products pass the test of "non-used" time. I've had the cheaper gadgets, usually as given gifts, that worked great upon opening, but maybe a year or two later....dead ! I've had a Dremel that's over thirty five years old....still working the same as the day i bought it. { i still have the extra "brushes" that i never used.} With that said, this same Dremel has been barrowed by different people, { has my name on it ✔} threw out the years, which gives another BIG point to quality !
Thank you so useful!
I want to make heat pads for hot dishes and hot pots or pans with strips of cardboard. Any suggestions for the heat tolerance ?

I need to hard coat a 54" long X 3" round core tube (like a giant havy paper towl tube) I need to be able to sand it super smooth for painting ?
I get super strong tubes like that but can't remember where. They're not nearly that long though
My glue gun is not lighting up.. i just need it but not sure what to do😢😢😢 any tricks plz
Thank you for the video Eli. One question: if I glue something and then apply cold blower to accelerate the bond, is it acceptable? Thanks.
Trying out making props for a play for the first time and the time your videos saved me is worth a like and sub. Thank u
Thank you for this idea. I have two questions. One is, do you have to use the water-glue mixture, or can you just use the glue? My second is, does the water-glue mixture make the cardboard a plastic-type feeling that would be easy to clean with a baby wipe?? Happy Crafting. ❤️🤗
Hi Eli, I'd just like to take the time to thank you for such informative videos on cardboard! I've been working on a costume for my little brother and was begining to worry about how to glue pieces but your videos helped infinitely. Finding your chanel was seriously such a godsend. It's thanks to your help that my mind is at ease and my brother will have a clean, neat costume afterall. God bless you.🙏 (+1 subbie)
Do you have any tips for manipulating hot glue while it's hot? I was wondering if there was a material for a poking stick. I like the tip for using your finger; just curious if you have experimented with pokers. maybe metal poker and you mentioned silicon, that seems good!
I cover open edges with paper and if I’m making a lightweight object, I might reinforce with the whole thing with paper dipped in pva glue. Sort of like a paper mache layer. It adds hardness.
To strengthen my cardboard I try to always use at least two layers, alternating the grain. Three layers alternating is better and when I’ve made things that have to bear a lot of weight, I’ll use 6. I glue the layers together with dots of hot glue and a lot of wood glue. I also add spines like you did on your sword. And when I made a small dresser, I added a layer of folded pieces (folded on their sides) between the glued together layers. I was making a lot of things during the quarantine and got my ideas from a RUclips channel called Santiago y sus ideas. This guy makes enormous furniture from cardboard and he doesn’t stint on making it strong. Even if you don’t know Spanish, he shows everything and gives the measurements too.
Cutting up in the air? Ok, this must be for beginners.
Eli Vance? Why are you white?
TY SO MUCH BRO!
