    Super points! One thing you touch on (that not many coaches do), is beginning the upwards racquet motion from the right, not from behind the back, by supination of the arm. This in a sense "cocks" the arm for pronation at contact with the ball. We just tried this on court...Adds significant power! Thanks!

    Good. How about timing your leg? Do you take back leg next to front leg same time when you start "throwing" your racket or is there some lag that leg move first and hand follows? Thank you ❤

    Saw this again. Understand so much more now. I grew up on worn, very fast courts in SoCal where the ball stayed low. As a result developed a closed stance game. Moved to a better neighborhood with better courts and needed to change for the higher balls it produced. Linear power (Sampras) vs rotational power (Agassi). Thanks for taking me back to my childhood. You're so enlightened!

    Nice things about pattern “rules” delivered to large groups of players is that everyone knows what you are going to do. Patterns are based on your own strengths and weaknesses and the strength and weaknesses of your opponent. When you work with someone on their poker, do you say “always bluff in this position”?

    • @gabypaztennis
      @gabypaztennis 16 дней назад

      You are talking more about strategies. That’s different. Because if you’re rlly good at down the line doesn’t mean you’re going to hit everything down the line or hit down the line when you are in an uncomfortable position. These are patterns that all pros use because we want to play high percentage tennis, and reduce mistakes. :) even if they know you’re going cross but your shot is strong and deep they can’t attack you and that’s why you see so many cross court rally’s on TV. It’s rlly difficult to go down the line on a deep strong shot, gotta wait for the right one. :)

    • @alexandermayer2026
      @alexandermayer2026 16 дней назад

      @ well said. Since chasing a ball out wide might well mean that you can’t get it back crosscourt, which I agree is the right play, you could end up giving your opponent a short ball in the middle. Since you are talking to amateurs with limited foot speed, the safer play is a 30’ lob to reset.

    I suggest teaching the right way and forget the wrong way. People might pick up the wrong technique. Patrick Mouratoglou just cut to the chase and it is quicker. I love the way you teach but I prefer just demonstrate the right techniques.

    I needed this my tennis queen. I hope you talk about the grip next time

  • @thomasc4777
    @thomasc4777 21 день назад

    Gaby, nobody addresses the grip on the service return. It's especially important on the fast-paced first serve. I've heard the continental to be effective without a change for both a forehand and backhand return. Personally, I favor more of an eastern forehand grip and intuitively change on a backhand return. Your thoughts? Thank you.

    • @gabypaztennis
      @gabypaztennis 21 день назад

      That’s a great question! That is personal preference! I would say, whichever is your dominant shot that’s the grip you want to have in the return. In my case for example I like forehands, so I have a forehand grip ready and then change to backhand when needed :) so you’re good!
