Stephen Pastel is someone who should be mentioned a lot more nowadays when it comes to indie music, it sucks bands like the Pastels, Television Personalities, Beat Happening... etc. Never get mentioned

Exceptional,I like all the Helix.

You can hear a lot of the roots of what Helix became in these songs. They certainly refined and improved their sound in subsequent albums.

Quite an original sound, even if a little "Americanized", compared to Samson. The voice, on the opposite, is not far from British New Wave. But it reminds me (again) of an USA female-fronted.band, '1994' (but from 1979).

I have listened to this album at least a thousand times.

My friend, Greta Wyrick, now gone too many years, 1st turned me on to Patti Smith in 1979. We ate acid and listened to this album and I felt a connection, whereas before, I felt alone, too different from most. This album was in my vinyl from 1980 until my home in Maine, which I bought after the murder of my 28 year old daughter Jasmine Cherise Curiosity burned down last year. This song is beautiful but hurts, I miss so many dead too soon Jasmine, Greta, Pete, Ben, Paul, James. Now when I listen to it, as I came back for my mother, still here, but pieces are disappearing from alzheimer's, it is sublime in speaking to the unbridled grief of loss. My strong, brilliant, independent, capable mother, who raised us alone disappearing in front of me.When she sees it too, and says "I used to be so smart" it guts me. Even as it cuts into me, it is familiar , comforting. 💜

The one thing I just never fully understand how Duff went from being so punk rock to playing in GNR. Nothing wrong with GNR, it’s just quite different. I would have seen Duff more as playing in nirvana or soundgarden than ending up in GNR and then Velvet Revolver. He also has more of a punk rock than hard rock character.
