    This is THE band the NEEDS to be in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame that isn't, people have no idea what Hanoi even is, some hair metalers thought it was cool to say you like them for a while, even though they NEVER EVEN HEARD THE BAND, they had zero in common with 80's hair metal, they were European Glam/Punk, BIG DIFFERENCE, they sounded more like the Clash that Motley Crue. This is truly one of the top 3 live rock n' roll bands of all time, oh well, they will get thier due in time, unlike other music, Hanoi Rocks will survive, be passed from generation to generation until one day everyone realizes this band will just not die for a reason, because it's truly great.

      Couldn't agree more that Hanoi Rocks should never have been filed under the same category as bands like Motley Crue and Poison etc, but *FUCK* the R&R HoF. That place is an insult to actual rock and roll.

    The finest rock'n'roll band I've ever seen, bar none. Newcastle Mayfair 1984. Trust me, you had to be there. Those who were there will know what I'm talking about. Outstanding gig!!!!

      30th June '84 i saw them at the Lees Cliff Hall in Folkestone, must have been the same tour. Excellent live band and a great frontman in Michael Monroe.

      It's called Glam-Punk or Glitter-Punk, other Bands in the Genre: Flash Bastard, Degeneration, The New York Dolls....it's a pretty small group of artists actualy.

      @@Brewzerr Maybe their last album, Method to My Madness, but the first two LPs were closer to goth than Hanoi Rocks.

      I taped it from my friend. Listened to it all the time. Motorvatin´ kicks ass as an opening track! It´s right up there with Black Dog and Toys In The Attic as an opening track of an album. I was 14 when this was released. After Razzle died, I saw them at Helsinin kulttuuritalo or Kultsa. It was their last or secon to last gig. It was televised. It was an unbelieveable experience. Never have a sweated as much at a gig! :) Lovely youth

      Bought it in the mid 80's. Hanoi Rocks are The Godfathers of Glam, they didn't invent it but definitely established it as mainstream in the 80's! Legends!

    Well yeah, these guys were closer to Glam of the 70s than other acts similar to them. Can't compare them to the Crüe really since they were more hard rock/metal inclined. They had little to nothing about Glam, only their early cross-dressing days looks, that's about it but their music was far from being so.

    • @Brewzerr
      @Brewzerr 3 года назад +1

      Agreed, though I gotta say... the first Motley Crue album sounds very little like the typical metal of the day, and it sounds very little like anything Crue did afterwards. That's not to say they sounded anything like Hanoi Rocks. Musically and attitude-wise, those two bands couldn't have been much more different. It was obvious to anyone who was paying attention that Hanoi Rocks were kind of a throwback to the New York Dolls, as filtered through first-generation UK punk. Early Crue was more like some weird hybrid of Sweet, Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Cheap Trick... as filtered through KISS imagery. It was just pure coincidence that both bands had big hair and wore make-up, with lead singers who had bleached-white hair. It was inevitable that the music press was going to lump them in together, since no one else looked like that in 1981. Like I said earlier, anyone who had any kind of knowledge of how things played out in the 70's could tell the differences (between Crue and Hanoi) right away.
