Still in its early stages I took a flight over the new retail park development taking shape at Elliot, Arbroath. This area was previously industrial, but it now to become some more large shops alongside Asda.

Regular passenger services has returned to Levenmouth after 55 years! I've captured some shots of both Leven and Cameron Bridge stations on what was a lovely sunny day.
Railway movements Lunan Den Viaduct, 6-5-24

Ok, so this is definitely one for the railway enthusiasts - various traffic over Lunan Den Viaduct, located at the north end of Lunan Bay, on Monday 6th May. As you'll see it's unusual being extended in the 1930s for the dualling of the line between Inverkeilor and Usan when additional piers were added alongside the originals.

A brief fly over Kyle of Lochalsh. We see Loch Alsh, the town of Kyle including the old slipway (disused since the bridge to Skye opened), and the scenic railway station.
RNLB Inchcape final departure with water-jet tribute and 4 boat escort.

RNLB Inchcape left Arbroath for the final time on 17th March 2024. In this video we see the crowds gathered to watch, the final launch down the slipway, and Inchape leaving, through a water-jet tribute, escorted by the remaining Arbroath Inshore craft and well as those from flanking stations at Montrose and Broughty Ferry. She headed off to Anstruther, I don't know what the plans are after that.

During recent stormy weather the harbour defences at Arbroath have been seriously damaged. The scenes here are from a few days later at high tide. No music on this one, just the sound of the sea!

Let’s hope the locals consider restoring the link from Leven to St.A passing through or close by the East Neuk villages. Must be tourism mileage in that and the golfers.
Was born and lived in arbroath till 10. Ive many fond memories of the harbour from then and the odd visit to see family ❤
The upheaval and hassle this railway has caused the local people has been unbearable. I think with hindsight, it would not have happened. Upgrading the roads would have been better. By the way, whether you come to Leven by rail or by car, there is nothing here.

Yes, but with a small boat rather than an all-weather type.

From what I remember the RNLI decided to remove it from Arbroath leaving the inshore craft as cover
It will likely move to another country for similar work.

yes, I will be giving it a go too. not long to go now! I edit on my Mac and use iMovie.
@@davidsdronepictures That's unfortunate as I don't have Apple, and I fell out with them about 5 years ago.
Are they working on electrification at the moment?
As far as I'm aware there will be no electrification initially now, it was part of the plan and it's been designed to accomodate this later.
Are the platforms future-proofed to hold 4 or 8-car electric units
Yes, I believe that's why they are so long.
Do you think that, in time, the railway might be further extended to Methil?
doubt it. Methil is only just over the river, so it probably wouldn’t be worth the hassle

Made it much easier to vist my family in leven/Methill. Nightmare to get to to after landing in Edinburgh from Wales.
Trying getting to the airport in Wales.There isn’t any rail link and the m4 doesn’t have a decent link to it.
The rail ink isn’t their because people have argued for it for years.Its their because the govt want cars off the road.They want you to use public transport.The price for the fare to Edinburgh will be interesting,and is this line that is going to stop everywhere going to be served with a SLOW train.
@mymusic5772 cardiff airport was built for the city to stretch out of the coming decades...turns out it's a flood area and that never happened......more and more flights cut every year there

Unfortunately the more recent storms have caused more damage.
What happens if a steam engine powered special train goes down the line there’s no way they can put the engine to go engine first it will have to go coaches first,a big mistake on all who passed this and government money.
Then they do what they do everywhere else, put an engine at the other end. Not rocket science.
Yep it's true, The Roundabout and dual carriageway is being replaced with a cycle lane, And no one in Arbroath want's to physically stop it as they can't be arsed.

Thank you for this. Even from 400 miles away (Chichester) I’m excited to see the re-instatement of railway links lost long ago. What are the chances of the eventual re-linking of Edinburgh and Carlisle?

The station is only about 8 miles away from the main line at Thornton, Edinburgh and Dundee,Perth,Dunfermline.
After 8 days you deserve a second like and comment, it is great to see the station coming along.
