Here at Second Sun Hydroponics, we're comparing the results of 2 different lighting options a homeowner or small grower might use to produce microgreens or seedlings. T5 High Output Fluorescent light vs LED Shop Light. Why this comparison? The LED Shop Light is something the home gardener can find easily at most box stores and is close to a T12 or T8 fluorescent light. So I wanted to illustrate...

Second Sun Hydroponics T5 High Output Fluorescent light vs LED Shop Light. Why this comparison? The LED Shop Light is something the home gardener can find easily at most box stores and is close to a T12 or T8 fluorescent light. So I wanted to illustrate the benefits to switching to high output T5 fluorescent. Microgreens are produced a few days faster with the T5 lights, which means a grower co...
How to Plant Seeds in Potting Mix
Просмотров 717 лет назад
Dibble a hole in the potting mix and place 1-2 seeds in each hole. The depth of the hole is determined by the information on your seed packet. If there is no info, a general rule is that the hole should be 2x the diameter of the seed. Cover with potting mix and tamp lightly. Move to the germination bench and water thoroughly. Bottom heat will speed germination. Sprout should appear in 3-14 days...
How to Use Plug Trays

This video describes how to use a plug tray. First fill the tray level with potting mix, and then dibble holes for your seeds. Cell size and seed hole depth is dependent upon seed size and crop. Place 1-2 seeds in each hole and then cover with soil and lightly tap. Place in a tray on your germination bench and water thoroughly.
Creating A Drip Irrrigation System

Here are the components you will need to make a drip irrigation system for your home garden or hydroponic system. I'm pretty sure the orchard tubing I'm demonstrating takes 1/2" barbed fittings. I forgot to mention in the video, but you may also want to add a timer on the spigot so you can run your drip system on a schedule. If you want to inject a nutrient mix, you'll also want to add an injec...

Great video, I’m finding the same with coir, ie it drains and dries really nicely. I wonder how beneficial it is for root development and aeration of roots.

Great video! Simple and to the point. I noticed my cuttings in only coco coir growing roots like crazy so this was nice to see. 💛

Hello, I have succulents and have been using coir, I’m curious to the way you’re using it without anything else. Where abouts are you located and any updates to these plants? Lastly what are your thoughts now after using...would you add anything or keep it as is with just coco coir
