Hello! My name is Val. I'm an AuDHDer, 37 year old woman with quite a few passions and special interests I want to share. At the moment we are hyper fixating on music reactions. I'm going thorough Lana Del Rey's entire discography, checking out Maisie Peters, fan-girling over Chappell Roan and discovering new albums that I've never listened to before.

You’re such a Lana fan to cry with burning desire. I really appreciate your existence
Greetings from another neurodivergent/ADHD from mid Canada. Diagnosed autistic at age 33, and ADHD at age 47! (but both I've had my whole life, it was just missed...gotta love the 70's/80's) I too love hearing artists like these. I was about to comment more about Aurora being on the spectrum but then I saw your top comment indicating she hasn't come out to say this, so I will follow your lead and refrain from assuming something about a person that isn't me :) I have just recently found her music too, and am enthralled. May I suggest another artist that (may or may not?) be on the spectrum with a completely unique style? Elise Trouw.
The best album of the decade. every song hits so close to heart and mind. I listened to Aurora live this summer. She is a wonder
welcome to the club
I truly love AURORA, all her discography is amazing; you can ick any song from her and it will be a masterpiece. I don't think i need to recommend more of her, seeing how you liked it so much. I have a couple other artists I'd love to see you react to, especially since they don't have as much visualization as i believe they deserve. Do tou receive suggestions from YT comments? If not, where can i go to request them?
i always thought lana was singing off to the races in a sort of mockign way
No offense, but saying that That’s Life was written for this movie is sacrilegious. It’s a classic song that was first sung by Frank Sinatra.
@@Chantoddler-i8c lol, sorry for offending you. 😂. I think it’s quite obvious from this video that I’m a lover of music. But I hope this comment made you feel better about yourself.
The end when Lady Gaga is going to get crushed is how she feels sometimes in her mind, she feels claustrophobic of her own celebrity, her own choice. If you look at the scene where she kinds of "perform"/dance she is totally slaved there and tied and at the same time another part of her already down and free is stucked by the other part of herself. Also she fights the softer part and crazier parts of her. So yes this video is about fighting her own demons and learning how to tame them.
aurora is a big proponent of music having its own meaning for everyone that listens to it. yes she has her personal intentions, but she loves when people find their own deeply personal meanings. it is one of the reasons she doesn't really talk about what every song means "officially . as soon as a song is released it belongs to the world and not her anymore. particularly she has mentioned some of her older songs she no longer liked but still play almost every gig because she can see the love and meaning her fans get from them also she loves writing songs what have layered meanings if you dive into the lyrics. for me many of her songs have different meanings depending on my mood which makes it great for re listening
@@Atra_Atrox that makes me feel so happy and validated, so thank you so much for sharing. I’m not gonna lie, there are multiple comments on this video that came off a bit “Gatekeeping” about the songs and their meanings and I always thought it was strange to speak about art as if it’s fact or objective, when it’s meant to be subjective. I had a feeling Aurora may feel like this about her art. 💙💙💙
100% i feel its important to say to new people as i see a lot of comments about the "real" meaning. a lot of her songs are more like small stories based on things she has seen others struggle with and and want to help with many are not autobiographical but she puts herself in others shoes and writes so beautifully from such an empathetic view. i hope you continue to dive into her other material and live performances! weirdly her first album is the darkest and most morbid of them all.
you need to check out more of Holly Humberstone. she's an amazing singer songwriter and an amazing human.
o vídeo em português, amei. Adoro suas reações
I find labeling things a bit boring. And it is a bit contra productive. I think, therefor I am. That is good enough for me.
If that’s helped you, I’m glad! Labeling has been life saving for me. Life has nuance. 💙
Pls pls pls pls pls watch the music videos and live versions! They are amazing, show her artistry and amazing dancing and imagery:))))
10:18 This is the most cry-able/curing album ever, I cry to the conflict of the mind every single time that I listen to it. I'm so glad that there is someone who understands the vast amount of emotions in this album. :)
I cry to the conflict of the my mind too! It really breaks my heart, and I think about my family... I wish I could do something to make them feel better. I wish I could ease their pain.
There’s an artist named Flower face that has really good music. she released a new album recently, i’d recommend it
I've always found the UV mv interesting because it's supposed to represent a wedding but for some reasons it always makes me think of a funeral, probably because of how the music sounds but also with the lilies and her walking along to an empty church, there's a feeling of death march more than wedding to me and I think it's definitely intentional. It's like death and love are intertwined and it's a connection we see all over Born To Die. Also lilies used to be the symbol of the French monarchy which means they're symbolic of power and I think it's brillant because even when she's in those abusive relationships, a lot of the time men don't realize she has the power because she's self-aware of what's happening and let them think they have the upper hand but in reality most of the time she's knows what she's doing. Ultraviolence for me perfectly represents Lana's dichotomy : both delusional and self-aware.
💗💗
Hi, Could you also react to "E.V.O.L" by Marina?
We need moar!
Hey, just wanted to say that as a woman as well, I think you’d be a great woman to be around and have as a friend. <3 (Btw it seemed like you enjoyed Aurora so please do more :D) You’re clearly an extremely caring person. Like, I can tell you’re the type of person who has a hard time NOT spending too much energy on caring about those around you, and then not having any to take care of yourself. (My assumptions are based on the fact that you remind me of myself 😅) Additionally, you’re very good at communicating clearly and not involving any judgment. When I’m seeking friends, I look for people specifically like that. It’s the way I communicate too, and it just makes everything a lot easier. It would be a lie to say that my self-worth is great, but I do love that part of me, and I’ve actually gotten a few compliments on it too. Friends have specifically admired my ability to not get into conflicts with them. No misunderstandings caused by different ways to read cues/tone, and no feelings like you can’t say how you feel in fear of it being “wrong.” Anyways, back to you. I appreciate your natural amount of honesty. You have opinions, and you’re gonna say them (as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else, of course). So all in all, I think you should know that there are definitely girl friendships out there waiting for you, because there’s a lot to like about you. Also, just background knowledge: I also got a diagnosis (ADHD). For years, I had felt something was different, but growing up, no one acknowledged it. (Wouldn’t be surprised if it caused my interest in psychology because I could relate to feeling not the way you’re expected to.) I’ve, like you, had the issue that I often feel like I don’t belong in “normal girl groups.” Other girls naturally just socialize, and at times I want to feel like I belong there so desperately. In some parts of my life, I’m in amazing girl friend groups. They are usually quite small, but I love it because they’re tight-knit. I feel friendships very deeply, so I take them very seriously. The issue is when the group falls apart or when I’m in an environment far away from them. I feel like I’m very hit or miss when groups are being formed. If I find anyone nerdy, neurodivergent, or queer, they’ll quickly be my friends. But if I don’t and I don’t fit in anywhere, it haunts me. On the outside, I look like a chill loner, but it’s honestly miserable inside. It was a role I was used to playing because, at the time, I knew I was in a place where no one would like me for me. (And at that point, I’d definitely rather be alone.) But now I use it as a safety blanket, instead of pushing myself to change things. I tell myself I’m okay with it because I’m an introvert, even though I know I hate feeling like I don’t fit in, like there’s something wrong with me. Then this feeling comes back that no one understands or sees me. That I won’t cross the line and share those feelings because I’m “not supposed to.” No adult ever thought I wouldn’t fit in socially because I’m smart (aka good at school, which isn’t even true-I really struggle, but I’m a perfectionist), and because I was always good at talking to adults. Being friends with teachers and the parents of friends is nice until you realize they’re the only people who seem to naturally like you… Anyway, this is why it healed a lot when I got my diagnosis. I can finally prove to myself that I wasn’t just being stupid and that I did actually struggle SO MUCH, just without anyone knowing. I still get happy each time I remember that I actually have proof, but I also can’t help feeling like it must be a dream. Lastly disclaimer:: don’t worry about me, anyone!!! I’m okay and I definitely wasn’t trying to trauma dump or anything. I actually have a really great friend group right now, but I graduated the school (not American, so won’t bother explaining) I went to with them 3 years ago, so we only meet a few times a year. At the school I’m at now, it’s a mixed experience, which has kinda been reminding me of how I used to be. Anyways, if anyone read it, I hope you could relate somehow and felt a little less alone :)
This is certainly a safe space to share so I didn’t take it as dumping. You seem like such a kind, considerate person and I’m glad you’re here!! Thanks so much for sharing your story. I definitely feel seen. 💙
Glad it came off the way I intended and thanks ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know if you know these facts about Ultraviolence. After the whole "authenticity" talk and the SNL performance, the label started pushing Lana around and blocked Ultraviolence from being released. Black Beauty was supposed to be a single and it leaked, so they postponed everything. Lana met Dan Auerbach (from The Black Keys) and decided to rework the album with him (you can search for West Coast Radio Mix - it was released in the Germany version of the album and it is the original version - before Dan Auerbach). Anyway, the record company was still blocking the release and they only agreed to release it if Paul Epworth (Adele's producer) agreed to take a listen and collaborate. He listened to it and said there was nothing he would change and so the record company greenlit the album. Except for the original Ultraviolence music video (which was reworked for Freak in Honeymoon) that dealt with Jim Jones and the Jonestown collective suicide. So, yeah... This Ultraviolence video was recorded with her then boyfriend Francesco Carrozzini to replace the orginal one. Francesco is an Italian man, son of then-editor-in-chief of Italy Vogue. His relationship with Lana was troubled, you might wanna check the photos of them in the airport, with Lana crying a lot and also the public cheating news, because he clearly inspired her to write Salvatore in Honeymoon. Anyway, Honeymoon was released in such a short time after Ultraviolence that it is nice to see how those eras collided a lot, yet produced very different albums.
Oh, and if you need to know more about Francesco, read Lana's interview with Billboard in October 2015 - she was the cover. She says some troubling things about their relationship.
This is amazing info! Thanks so much. 🖤
The way she smiles at the camera when she sings “he hit me and it felt like a kiss” like she was down bad. To the listener it’s obviously such a terrible thing but she’s smiling through it. She does it twice btw in the first and second chorus like it’s very intentional imo
I totally agree that it’s intentional. 🖤
i am a simple person. i see a preachers daughter reaction, i click
You should listen to her Born This Way album. This song is very reminiscent of that era with the dark, metal undertones. It's my favorite album of hers!
I’ve actually gone back to the start and am gonna go through all of them so I’m super excited to hear this one!! ❤️
Bradley Soileau is the one who appears at the beach (West Coast) and also appeared in Born To Die and Blue Jeans. Mark Mahoney is another different actor, he is almost 70 years old (Bradley is near 40) and he's the one who appears in the car in West Coast and then Shades of Cool too. Also, as a curiosity, the original Ultraviolence video recreated a sect referencing Charles Manson, but in the end it did not come out (it is said that there were problems with the label and they did not let her release that video and she, pissed off, recorded this with the help of her boyfriend at the time and an iPhone). The original Ultraviolence video was recycled and used for Freak, a song from her next album, Honeymoon.
Not Charles Manson, Jim Jones.
@@jpvianini well, I think Jim is the pseudonym she uses to portray this kind of figure, but in the Freak video I see more reference to Manson aesthetically
@@bryanprieto8195 The red juice is supposed to represent the poison they took.
So cool! Thanks! 🖤
Actually, you're somewhat correct about the foreshadowing honeymoon in ultraviolence mv, though its unitentional. The original concept was about a cult leader (more fitting with the themes and the meaning of the song) but it got scrapped. Her then boyfriend Francesco, directed the official ultraviolence mv, it was one of the last promo for the ultraviolence era, i think it was made around the same time the honeymoon concept started to exist. Her references in the video are honeymoon-esque because when she filmed it she was over her ultraviolence era Also the existing footage from the cult leader video was later used for a mv for a song in the album honeymoon (i tried not to spoil it) I hope the way i explained it makes sense😅
Oh, excited to see that! Thanks!
In FMWUTTT the “I am a dragon you’re a whore don’t even know what you’re good for mimicking me is a fucking bore to me” lyric was a diss to Lorde. I believe they had some beef years ago.
love your reaction. so insightful! xoxo
Thank you!!
I also just noticed it (following your thought process about water/fire) how ultraviolence video is so burnt out, both the colours and the old video effects. Plus, I'm not sure if you were leading to the same point, but when you said how shadows look beautiful on her face it clicked for me that it's just like bruises, you know, he hit her and it felt like a kiss, she wore those bruises like those flower lace shadows.
Yeah, totally. The literal representation of bruises, as well as what I was explaining about embracing your shadow side. It’s so poetic!! 🖤
If you watch Shades of Cool with the storyline of Blue Jeans video in mind, it really helps. I believe the old dude is the guy from Blue Jeans when old. He is thinking about Lana and seeing her ghost around him. When he looks at the swimming pool, he sees her in his head and makes the sign of the cross. Then you see him looking at the pool/tank again and she is gone. Like a ghost haunting him. Memories and regret for him. When she is swimming towards the camera in the pool, her eyes are just above the water like in blue Jeans
Hi, just this wednesday i went to a concert of Aurora. It was magical and i cried SO MUCH. I have to be honest, love was in the air all the concert and after it felt like something was cured inside of me.
Those things falling are bullets and you can see part of the gun too I think
Thanks! I don’t know why I didn’t see that! Lol
It’s funny how you talk about how your number 1 favorite sound is a loon. Lana has actually sampled the sound of a distorted loon in songs like million dollar man and many other songs in her next albums.
Really?? Omg my favorite movie is “Bringing Up Baby” with Cary Grant and they talk about a loon sound but I never knew what it was 😹
Seriously?!!! Man, I’m starting to just LOVE this woman. How freakin cool. 🖤
It’s so phenomenal. The first time I heard it out camping in the morning, I was literally brought to tears. They are so serene. 🖤
