“We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore. Except to make our lives into a work of art” That line seriously changed my life for the better
When you said she has a time capsule… she’s been doing this bit at her live shows lately as a mini-intermission-transition-song thing where she sits on the stage with her back to the audience and looks at the screen that’s (usually) behind her and it shows clips of all her music videos over the years and I just. It makes me bawl. I know we have a long way to go if you do get round to watching any of her most recent live stuff like Coachella etc. but that bit of her shows gets me real bad.
22:12 “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have…. But I have it” LDR I freakin love this reaction. I think the gang of people in her head (Elvis, Marylyn, John Wayne, Jesus, Mary, Eve) are not only Americana icons but also playing roles of symbolism for the archetypes that exist within Lana. She’s a deeply read person and incorporates so much knowledge of symbols, logos, philosophical ideologies, myths and dogmas in her lyrics and visuals. She’s an onion. We peel through all her layers, crying all the while. You have the best mind to break down Lana. Best reaction ever.
Yes!! I completely forgot about that! Man, it’s so cool how her work weaves through other works. And that’s exactly what I was thinking with the archetypes but I called them “parts”. We are on a similar brainwave tho! So cool. ❤️
I typically don’t watch most reaction channels that pause a lot but I absolutely love and adore your insight and your thoughts! Never stop and Never apologize for being you. Happy to be a subscriber.
I totally get that! And I’m so glad you’re still able to enjoy my stuff. Sometimes I wish I could just sum up everything at the end like some reactors but my brain just doesn’t work that way! lol ❤️
i really like your interpretation of “grenadine sunshine” in reference to shirley temple (the drink and actress) because she was famously exploited and abused by the entertainment industry from a very young age, alluding to the darkness behind the veneer of hollywood glamour
Thank you! I was really thinking it was going out on a limb but I was also thinking that about Shirley Temple too! It just fit perfectly with the themes of the record. ❤️
This is an amazing video! I am happy you shared your sides but also sad about what you have been through. I know that you talk about everything you say is healing you and sharing emotions is relieving. Keep pausing cause that is why we are here, not for a typical reaction :) I am here because of you.
I can't wait to get back from driving my friend all over the state of Pennsylvania to get his vehicles registered tomorrow morning !! I'm gonna miss this premiere boooooooo !!!! I'm gonna be with you in spirit Val !! And i will be catching up with you and everyone else as soon as i can !!! 💙💙💙
she always say performance isn't her thing that she is more of a writer but tbh lana puts her soul joy awkwardness cuntiness gorgeousness anxiety and her angelic voice in her shows small or big it just the best
FYI this poem 1:06:53 she is reciting is called 'Howl, Parts I & II" from Allan Ginsberg, he is a beat generation poet and Lana is very keen` to beat poetry.
ride is still my favourite music video ever. never watched something so relatable. the whole theme of escapism, and relying on others for their validation and kindness and my own happiness. i literally cry everytime i see it lmao.
TROPICO is the best ART that you can see on RUclips. I am very glad that you watched this, I think you follow the chronology perfectly. It is also nice that you focus on almost every detail and capture the important moments. For example, one of my favorite shots is when Lana falls to the ground after biting an apple and the action moves to a strip bar where Lana is almost naked. It's a perfect transition both in terms of film and music. And a beautiful example of what consequences humanity has for its own mistakes.
Loved your reaction and analysis as always ❤️ Don't forget to listen to Young and Beautiful from The Great Gatsby soundtrack. The single and mv versions have different productions and i would love to know which one you prefer 😁
That will most likely come after all my album reactions. I already have 4-5 videos planned for each album so any extras I will do after so we can keep things moving! ❤️
Please react to Lana Del Ray A.k.a Lizzy grant , it was her old artist name she meant with „ I was a singer , not a very popular one „ Lizzy Grant , it is very emotional ❤
hii! I absolutely love your Lana reactions and i’m here for them!! Quick question, when you sort of reach that 2020/2021 era, I’d love to see you react to her poetry book ‘Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass’ because I feel it really does explain a lot of her personal feelings. Thank you for this amazing video❤️
That will most definitely be a part of this series, whether I do it during the albums at the correct time or as a separate thing after all the albums! I’m so excited about that tbh. I love poetry. ❤️
Hello, a subscriber from Turkiye. I love watching your reaction videos, you are really down to earth and sincere with your comments so thank you for sharing these with us ❤ Been a big lana fan for years that I don't even remember 🙃 I'd love to see you watch and react to some of Melanie Martinez especially her album movie "K12" Thank you beforehand
The beginning shows the Big Bang. In between is religious motifs. The ending has spacecrafts and aliens. Lana studied philosophy in university because she wanted to bridge the gap between science and religion.
Im loving your reactions! I love your take on Lana's style being abstract. I find that her visuals are direct and conceptual at the same time. That's intellect at its finest. Somebody said, 'the thing about jokes and philosophy... and maybe maths... is, once you make them, they seem obvious'. Lana's worldview is obvious yet elusive. That's why we study it the way we do. In the scene where the men are being seduced by the women and then they get robbed, there's a lot of symbolism that shines through. The narrative advances simple and straightforward: the whole ordeal is a setup to rob the wealthy men and Lana, who's not there, is alluded to as the mastermind, as she's the one who's holding all the money. However, that's not the end: as you noted, she lets it all go at the end, as they ascend. John Wayne the cowboy, who represents God (she prays "Dear John", not "Dear God"), reminds us of what's important ~ not the money, but the landscape. The end, however, doesn't feel like Paradise, as the ascension to the sky is glitchy and stormy. It's imperfect and possibly even catastrophic (very Russian~film~like), which reminds me of the tension between the sacred and the profane throughout the whole piece. It's a very selfaware film, satirical even. At the end of the day, she had been worshipping a false god, i.e. John Wayne. Could this be the callout you were talking about when you said 'i feel I am being called out'? I find that, for me, Tropico is about a lot of things, one of which being celebrity idolatry. Lana is asking us not to treat her like an idol, while celebrating herself and her art as worthy of being remembered forever
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this. Really thoughtful analysis. And right on a similar track that I was trying to get at I think in a lot of these themes (but much more articulate)! ❤️
@PassionDumpofanAutist thank you for sharing your space and time and your passion to let us in on your thoughts and let us articulate ours, too! I love it ❣️
That makes a lot of sense with the “American figures” theme. I stand by my interpretation of “father figure” and have also expanded to see him as also a representative of a “God” figure, especially when we get into Bel Air.
Ride is my favorite music video. I've seen it a couple hundred times. I've never seen the subtitles change the words.....ever.....a little distracting. Don't care for censorship or misinterpretation by edit/filters. That takes the art away from the artist. P.S. pretty sure I beat you in a crying contest. Thanks for your take on my girl... Is that allowed? Calling my favorite singer/songwriter my girl?
@@courtneyrodgers138 yes! Definitely aware about 13’s lucky/unlucky nature. I didn’t know that it’s been around in biker/tattoo culture. Thanks for sharing that. The thing that I found funny was how my brain is brainwashed to think initially that it has something to do with Taylor Swift (which I obviously know is not true) It was a self-aware critical commentary on how silly that is!! 😭
I know this is probably unnecessary to say and I mean it in the best way possible please stop apologizing every single time you pause to talk. we are all here to hear what you have to say and how you interpret the art! we want you to pause! if we wanted to just watch the original we would go to those videos, not your reaction.
I totally agree. I cringe watching it back sometimes because I’m actually working on this issue. It’s a 37 year long people pleasing issue that unfortunately doesn’t go away overnight. But this is why I’m doing RUclips, to gain more confidence and accept myself more fully. So I totally agree, but my nerves and anxiety still get the best of me and it’s a bad habit spanning 37 years that’s super hard to break. It doesn’t help that I DO get comments that are annoyed with the way I do things. But I’m working on not worrying about what those people think because I can’t please everyone. But be gentle with me while I work on this aspect of myself!! 😅❤
“We had nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore. Except to make our lives into a work of art”

I don’t doubt it. I am not being exaggerated when I say watching Ride changed me forever. ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve watched the ride mv a LOT of times but I am at the end of you reacting to the ride mv and girl I am crying with you rn haha
It’s so REAL! What an amazing piece of art. 🖤
Another passionate Saturday listening to Lana del Rey. Good job girl I'm loving what your doing here ❤❤❤❤
So happy you’re enjoying this. I’m loving it myself. ❤️❤️❤️

Her throwing the necklace at the end is the same as her newer song Candy Necklaces and the music video! Omggg I just put that together 😩
Oh! So cool. I’m excited to be able to connect dots as we go along like that. ❤️
Ok is not a video reaction to ultraviolence, so we are ok 😂, I’m excited
So excited for that one. I know it’ll be a lot but I’m ready for it! 🖤
@@PassionDumpofanAutistwe are so ready for that reaction 💪

Thank you for your vulnerability and your stories. We love it since we all feel so similar to you in those moments. ♥️♥️♥️
