How I Turned Apples into Hard Cider
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Год назад
Here is how to turn apples into hard cider 1) Juice as many apples as you have or until you reach your desired volume (I made 5 L) 2) Heat the Juice up to 170°F and add any spices. Then hold the temp at 170°F for 10 minutes. I also like to add a tsp of yeast nutrient at this time 3) Cool down the juice to between 68-72°F (or the correct range for you yeast) 4) Add to a clean and sanitized ferme...

Is There Good Vegetarian Food in Kyoto?
No
👌
Wait, are you taking reading with the lees? Wouldnt that artificially bump up the gravity reading since the yeast cake is virtually a solid disolved back into solution?
I bought the same fermenter bucket, but i cannot find anywhere if i also need to add an o-ring to the inside (near the nut). I assume not. I assume there is just an extra set (2 small and 1 large o-ring) in the package.
This is apple juice isnt it. No fermentation. No alcohol therefore not cider?
Do you have the reference of that keg ? Looks reaaly nice !
I never thought of bottling wine in beer bottles. I honestly hate corking bottles.
The added benefit is that most bottle caps will stop oxygen from getting allowing it to age longer
Definitely gotta try this
So I’ve recently made blackberry cheong but after a couple days mine smells like acetone. Is it still okay to use?
@@jayjdeshay I would say no. If it smells chemical or unpleasant I would try again from scratch.
or just buy it from the store, jezus these utubers will make anything reel
If
Guys the true simplest way is to measure out equal (but very small, like 1/8 tsp) amounts of baking soda and citric acid or do the math with 5% vinegar. And no, you wouldn’t be consuming either of these products, they’d react to form co2 and harmless salts commonly used in sodas, carbonating the beverage with little extra taste.
Exactly what is it, since there is no such thing. It's Russian Imperial Stout.
Or just buy a sodas stream
What are you sanitizing your tools with? If it’s alcohol, aren’t you afraid of adding isopropy alcohol to your food?
@@aniou8126 it is called Star San. It’s commonly used in beer brewing. It is food grade
Yes if you love beer (which you should 😂)
I followed your instructions and bread came out delicious, the problem is i had to do another one because my family ate it all in a instant.
Sounds like a good problem to have!
Can barely understand what you’re saying because of the sound effects and you not enunciating your words. Turn down the volume on the sfx (or just get rid of them because they were bad) and speak more clearly.
Great video! I really don't mean to make you self-conscious but perhaps in future videos you can speak a bit more slowly or clearly, it is sometimes difficult to make out what your saying. It slightly detracts from otherwise great content and lovely editing!
Is there any chance you checked out 2nd Cooper in Ueno? Nice craft beer bar with a great selection of domestic and import craft beers.
I have not been there but will check it out next time I am in Ueno
Gracias por el video orientativo. Con él, me he decidido a comprar los barriles, en vez de fermentadores plásticos. Saludos desde Cancún, Q.Roo; MX.
I'll just force carb the first one and use priming sugar for the others
Right. Simple ? 😅
I spent three weeks in Japan on Both Hokkaido and Honshu. Ski’d many of the well known resorts. They get a ton of snow ,but most places aren’t steep enough for such deep snow. On top of that , if it’s foggy or windy they shut down the lifts. It was a cool trip , but the skiing in the Canadian Rockies is much much better. Also doesn’t take 26 hrs to get there. I won’t even get into the racism we experienced in Tokyo.
I drew an owl by accident.
Why are you hiding the co2 ?
I am not hiding the CO2 Tank it is just heavy and wouldnt fit in the frame as it is 3 ft tall. It is just sitting on the floor next to the table.
I dont understand your pronunciation 😅
There is an easier way to do this without any fancy equipment. Find an apple tree and pick the apples you need. Once you've juiced them, do not boil. This will kill the yeast naturally found on the apple skins. Put the juice in an airtight container and leave it at room temperature for a couple days to ferment. When you think it is fizzy enough, put it in the fridge. This will cool it enough to stop the fermentation. You will then have a sweet and fizzy cider. The amount of alcohol will be almost nothing.
It supposed to be carbonated Apple cider vinegar
How long collected yeast could remain in fridge?
You had already decided
Might be a stupid question, I've been given different answers but, do you boil your jars first, or would a good wash / dishwasher wash be okay for doing cheongs?
I know this video is two years old but I just wanted to give a suggestion,, I have made plum wine before and they are very acidic, I would recommend to take a ph reading before you pitch your yeast, my must was just at 2.4 so I added potassium bicarbonate to get it to a 3.8 . I didn't want to add too much but by adding 2 1/2 teaspoons l. Then my yeast took off. Plums are super acidic. Just a thought why your must didn't take off. Have a great day. Shane A Chelsea, Maine
It’s been a year. Now which one is bitter to sweeter
The vodka was the most vanilla like but I liked the whiskey one too for certain baked goods
@ 😊 thanks!
Where did you get the keg and Co2 tsnk?
I got the keg from morebeer and the co2 tank from a local homebrew supply store. But most gas suppliers will sell it just make sure it’s beverage grade co2
One minor thing to add, when you cold crash as you said you need to make 100% sure you disconnect the 'gas out' or it will suck air in or sanitizer if your blowoff is in the sanitizer. It's also a good idea to add a little pressure to the keg to make sure it doesn't pull any air in through the lid. It shouldn't normally do this, but but the keg seals are meant to hold under pressure from within and too much negative pressure could introduce outside air leaking through.
Thanks for sharing! Can I use minced garlic instead of cloves?
Yes, absolutely! I just like a little roasted garlic flavor in mine
Can i use up the rest of my frozen strawberries & blueberries that we bought too many of and then found out we have to sell everything and move😬 so hoping i can use them up making some of these😬😊
Ya it should work and would be a little quicker but I personally haven’t tried with frozen fruit. Alternatively frozen fruit makes great jam
@RecipeswithBen oh duh!🤦♀️ I didn't even think of jam!! I'm old and my brain is out to lunch a lot🙄😳😬 I've made apple butter a bunch, just in my crock pot.. back when my hands and legs worked a lot better 😳 but it's been a real long time since jam... like real jam. When I was lucky enough to grab a small baggie full of blackberries before the deer got them all. But I frozen them as I wasn't sure about so little an amount... but I was making a special breakfast and knew we'd both love some blackberry syrup kind of thing on the pancakes. But all I did was add some sugar as they were wicked tart still ... then just cooked them, smashed, cooked down some, almost too much. But, enough for our pancakes. But, to make real jam im sure there's much more to it, but these storms have wrecked my body a lot more than normal, so my brain is not able to concentrate right now🤦♀️😳 But, I'll definitely have to find a great recipe for a strawberry jam, as well as a lot of blueberry jam! (Bags were on great sale at Costco, before we knew we were losing everything we own, even our home... we used to make a lot of smoothies so he bought a LOT😲😳🤦♀️😬😂) Thanks SOOOOOOOO much for the help and the inspiration as well!! Now I just need to see if I have my jars here or if they've moved already 🥹 Thanks again!!
The fruit has sugar. Why do you add more sugar?
Yes but sometimes there isn’t enough to get up the starting gravity to achieve the abv for wine so white sugar can be added to bump it up without effect flavor.
@@RecipeswithBen so without adding sugar, it’ll just be weaker?
@@jhost0311 yes, the starting gravity would be lower and thus a lower abv. Also the higher abv helps with shelf life and aging.
@@RecipeswithBen how long can the “no added sugar” lower abv wine be stored for?
Put some glass balls 🏀🏀🏀 in kegs and rotate the keg for best results. You can give slides seperate in kegs. Achievement of Good carbonated liquid Soda softdrinks but at temperature less than 4°C or ice mixed chilled water for best CSD.
Use your pressure cooker. Get the NRV valve's fitting on it. Put ice water or take any 2li volume Coca cola bottle washing with soap and hot water and diluted old monk Rum as sanitizer. Before re use. Fixation of car wheel tube nozzle by Araltite rasin adhesive. Now use CO2 gas regulator pipe and CO2 cylinder.
