    Now, if you're going to go to the trouble to make a nice cribbage board...THAT'S how you do it. Been looking all day for a cribbage board build video that was special, and this was very special. Very nice work sir!

    It appears to me that end-grain (male part, especially) is easier to machine when it's end-grain. These sharp and thin cliffs do not break off, and cut cleaner. Is that correct?

    • @ARBWoodwork
      @ARBWoodwork 3 месяца назад

      Yes, there is less chance of tear out with end grain.

    it's amazing, with the CNC you are actually a manufacturer. a high end manufacturer! May I ask, if you had 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, how many of those do you think you could make a day?

    • @ARBWoodwork
      @ARBWoodwork 5 месяцев назад

      I just do this as a small side gig. Not very consistent in my time in the wood shop. But you would need to cut the pieces one day. Glue at the end of the day. Let it cure over night and finish the cuts the next day.

    Never thought of using a shoulder vise hardware like that! Thanks for the inspiration. I might just have to go pick one up and go that route! Have you noticed any issues on larger glue ups as far as even pressure to the outer edges, since it is only a single main point of pressure from the rod. Maybe it evens out with the applied plywood substrate. Nice work!

    • @ARBWoodwork
      @ARBWoodwork 6 месяцев назад

      One modification I would do and will do is put a metal brace along the arm on the top. The plywood has started to bow under the stress.

    I just notice when you remove the positive portion after the glue you go to full depth and just use a small step over. Have you found this to be better than having a large step over but with smaller, incremental pass depth? Just getting my feet wet in end grain inlay and the first one I did was great but I did notice a couple of small parts where the wood lifted a bit and left a void. Small enough that it's hard to tell unless you really looked close but they were still there

    • @ARBWoodwork
      @ARBWoodwork 8 месяцев назад

      This is being used for decorative purposes, so structurally the joint is not being stressed. Wood movement is going to be minimal if any with the controlled climate that it is in size and thickness of the piece.

  • @avramw

    Hello there, amazing work! I'm on the path of figuring this out myself. My numbers are exactly the same as yours. When I use a vbit (20 or 45 degree) everything lines up right and the glue gap is exactly 1mm as it should be. However, when using a tapered ballnose like you do in your other video the plug doesn't go down nearly far enough. I suspect it has something to do with how I you enter the tapered bit into the vcarve database. I have the same Jerray bit you do. Do you have any insight into what I might be doing wrong or can you share how you entered the bit into the toolbase? Thanks!

    • @ARBWoodwork
      @ARBWoodwork 8 месяцев назад

      I would have to check settings but I created a new vbit in Vectric with the sizes of the bullnose I believe.
