thank you for another good video. it is really helpful
Great video. Thank you for sharing
good job Mr.411 I maintenance these all the time as well!
Good afternoon from Nigeria, i have a question to ask, my indigo manitowoc machine refuse to supply water inside the machine and i changed the inlet valve thinking it will help but didn't, i also cleaned the water sensor beside pump still not bringing in water, but if i manually enable relay in diagnostic section it will drop water but if you start it to work it self i will not drop water when it ought too.
Call Manufacturer Support or an ice machine professional. I am NOT responsible for crap and this is NOT professional advice. For context, I am a motivational speaker, I am 35 years old, divorced, and I live in a van down by the river. I live on a steady diet eating government processed cheese in my van, down by the river... So take this at your own risk and GL :) First, make sure the Dump Valve is actually closed. Maybe the water is entering the unit but is draining right away. Make sure the dump valve is clean and closed. Check for any errors and note them. Clear codes and unplug the unit for 10-15 minutes and restore power. If it fails to fill the troth with water during prechill: Navigate to Menu/Service/Diagnostics/Inputs. -In this menu, does the Water level High Read Sensing? -If NO High Read Sensing: - - Check voltage at the water inlet valve during prechill. If WIV is getting power but not working then replace it. Then, follow the wire to the PCB and check voltage there (across wires #20 and #56 on the 9 pin connector during prechill). - - If no voltage, replace the PCB. - - If it has voltage, is water supplied to the unit 20-80psi (Check The Pressure and DONT skip it or assume its okay (Check the pressure after the water filter)). If water pressure is good, replace the valve. If the water pressure is bad, replace water filter or fix the water supply. -If YES High Read Sensing: - - Is the Water Level Probe clean and in place? If not then clean it and make sure its in place. See if issue is resolved before proceeding. - - If NOT resolved, Disconnect the WLP from the PCB and recheck Water Level High Read Sensing. - - - YES its sensing, Replace the PCB. - - - NO its not sensing, Check OHMs between all 3 connections on the WLP Circuit. Does the WLP read resistance? - - - - Yes resistance: Replace the WLP. - - - - If No resistance, and you had to do everything above, the water troth should be filling at this point. If not, call a professional ice machine mechanic mans or Tech Support.
i made that mistake before where the wire was twisted on the ITP and got a call back on it
how much youcan charge for a visit like this in sacramento?
$120 an hour
Thanks appreciate
You’re welcome
Mine wont make ice
That’s not good. What do you think the problem is?
Good day sir how about during freezing cycle when blue is stady and orange is blinkinh
Orange blinking during freeze(steady blue) means that is time to clean your machine. Running the machine through a full clean cycle will make the orange light stop blinking.
Again thanks for the video, I think this same thing happened with our 4th floor machine. Shortly after you helped me fixed my 3rd floor, the 4th floor one threw this code lol. The fan isn’t as stiff as yours was, but it’s definitely not spinning. The unit I have is a little different soooo I’m not sure exactly how I go about testing it to make sure it’s getting power or not. I don’t wanna have them buy the new motor and it not be that part lol
More than likely the fan motor gets power from the contactor. So if the compressor is running the condenser motor should eventually turn on. The tricky part is that the fan motors power passes through a fan cycle switch. It’s possible that the fan cycle switch isn’t working properly. Easiest way to know is to bypass it.
You’re awesome sir, without your videos and your replies I wouldn’t have figured any of these problems out. Soo combining those two wires on the fan cycle switch is how you bypass it? My fan motor only has two wires, one that goes to that switch and another that looks like it goes to the board. Do I just gotta combine those the two on the switch onto the one on the side it’s not normally connected to? If that makes sense. When I plugged it in today, it didn’t give that error, but it went from pre chill straight to harvest, then gave a long harvest error after awhile, but that fan never kicked on. So that also confused me a bit.. you’ve done a lot to help me I wish there was something I can do in return lol. I might go and like all your videos.
You have the basic idea. If your fan gets power directly from the board you may have a different model than what I’m thinking. What’s the model number of your machine? Also if you really want to return the favor please consider supporting the channel on Patreon. Thanks in advance.
@ okay cool cool thank you so much! uhhh I’m not at work now and don’t remember it off the top of my head. I can get back to you tomorrow when I can check! Is the channel name the same for Patreon? I could probably join depending on how much the memberships cost. I’m not the head maintenance dude there, just a helper, but when they build the hotel next door I’ll get a promotion lol.
@ Hello sir, thanks again for the replies and help with everything. The model is ID0302A-161. It was throwing the HPCO active code, then after I left it unplugged and then plugged it back in, it started to go from wtr purge for a few seconds, to prechill for a few seconds, then goes to harvest and sits on harvest for a little while, and then goes to remove ice after a little bit. No water comes out either. After a couple times of that it is now throwing the “long harvest” code. So idk if that is still related to that fan or not. The fan definitely isn’t running and is a bit stiff, not as stiff as this one in the video. I’m checking out what I think your Patreon is, but I just wanna verify it’s the right one before I join it lol.
I must say your the best im tech ive seen.
Thank you for the compliment. There are better technicians out there and that’s a fact.
Do you have to throw out those first few loads of ice that had sanitizer in it?
If you run the entire clean cycle there will not be any sanitizer left in the machine. There’s no need to dump the first batch of ice.
How do you prevent this from happening? I have this exact same machine and this one seems to require a lot more maintenance because it gets dirty fast. Compared to an older ice machine I had that was hardly ever getting dirty as the new one I have. I also have a filter connected to it to try and help it but nothing. I’m looking to get a Hoshizaki HS-5283 to see if it helps or some type of UV lighting. It’s a bar and Hoshasaki is saying it’s the yeast coming from the drain lines connected to the draft beer. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you
Some places are worse than others. Yeast from the beer is a factor. If possible try to move the machine to a different location? Regular cleaning. UV light is helpful.
Absolutely love follets..best ice machine brand out there
👍
10 yrs working solely on ice machines and ive NEVER come across a fan cycle switch that caught in fire. Plenty of mani fcs's intermittently failing open. nice find. now ill probably see one next week
10 years is impressive! I’m sure you’ve seen some crazy stuff out there.
You are the Ice Machine Guru!!!
My friend from the UK! Good to see you Michael.

Yes
Every time I start eating yt wants to show disgusting shit
They’re the best!
@ 😂😂😂😂😂
Cool, extra protein 😂
For real!
You don’t touch acs? That’s kinda wild
No air conditioning. Actually I work on my own.
@ That’s cool man how much work do you get as a solo guy?
@ you should definitely start working on ac it’s really simple especially if you understand ice machines
Oh I messed that up…. I work on my own AC. I actually work for a company.
Might wanna skip the fountain drinks as well lol. Bottled drinks only!
Good point. Avoid!
I see E3 Power loss on a lot of machines but they are all working and the customers tell me they have not had any power surges recently. Is there anything that might cause this?
I’m not exactly sure. I have also seen a lot of E3 power loss errors logged with no reports of power loss. Sometimes those machines do funny things that we can’t really explain. I tell my customers not to worry about it. The machines making ice so it’s not something we need to worry about.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice weekend. May I ask ? How to know which one is Fans cycle switch , High pressure switch, low pressure switch ? How to identify them . I kinda confusing on those one.
Looking at the markings on the switch is a good way to know which switch is what. There are usually pressure ratings on the switch. 450 psi being high pressure cut out, 250-300 being fan cycle and 15-35 being low pressure. You could also trace the wires to figure out where it runs and then reference the wiring diagram. Wires going to the condenser fan would be a fan cycle switch. The hard part is that each machine is slightly different. Wiring diagrams help. Parts breakdown is also a good help. Hope this was useful. Hope you have a great weekend.
Is there a way to flow nitrogen through the pipe when you had it removed from the ice machine and brazing in the new valve? If not, is there a way to remove the carbon from inside the pipe after we are done brazing in the valve? Is there a product we can use to remove the carbon from inside the pipe and valve? Sorry for the many questions but I am trying to learn as fast as i can so i am more productive and do things right.
You make a very good point. I was not flowing while brazing the parts that were removed from the machine. I tapped on the copper to remove the majority of the carbon. I’m not sure a product that removes carbon. I assume a small clean brush may be helpful.
Nice video. Im sure this has been asked before, but does your company only do ice machines?
Almost only ice machines. We dabble in refrigeration when we get presented with an opportunity.
That switch was a little crispy!cool find.
Like a burnt marshmallow. lol.
I can tell you’re working at a Dutch bros lol
lol. They all look the same.
@I say that all the time. I forget which store I’m at. I do PMs on Dutch bros in San Antonio and it’s really funny seeing you talking about those fan cycle switches after seeing one that was bad a few days ago.
I'm very surprised that it wasn't leaking.
I thought it was leaking too.
Best ice tech service videos!!!!
Thank you for the compliment!
Great videos!!!!
👍
Quick question. When its in current making ice mode and water level gets below sensor, is the board supposed to then get signal to supply more water to evap and curtain if ice sheet still not to right thickness and ready for harvest? Working on one now and noticed that water pan gets so low and the thickness switch isn't ready to harvest yet, but there is no more signal for more water to be brought into pan for wayer pump to keep pouring over evap as needed.
During the first 7 minutes of freeze the water inlet valve should energize if the water probe looses contact with water. Usually a situation like yours means that you’re loosing water somewhere. Do you have water dripping into the bin/dispenser during freeze? Possibly loosing water through the dump valve? Maybe the water level probe isn’t in the correct position? Manitowoc has a good tech support team. Give the a call. 800-247-4520
I’m a pm service tech and i say the same thing….i always tell my friends and family. The safest time to grab ice is 20min after ive cleaned it. Once im gone the bugs reappear and its contaminated, lol
This is so true! 😂. Nice to have a pm tech share their insights.
I found a roach cryo-frozen in an ice cube 😂
Han Solo
Sorry to break it to you, but if the ice machine looks like that, I promise the drink machine won't be any better 🤣
Totally believe that!
If you shut the unit off shouldn’t that stopped the voltage to contactor and shut the compressor off
Should have. But only after the low pressure switch opens the circuit.
This was very helpful. Thank you!
That was the goal! You’re welcome.
Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Do you have Instagram to? Would love to ask you a question about a machine
What’s going on with your machine?
Well done somtimes it takes me literally 5/6 hours to clean a hoshizaki ice machine i honestly prefer cleaning manitowoc ice machines
This is true. Hoshizaki ice machines can be very time consuming to service. Manitowoc ice machines are typically easier to service.
What did you say the issue was at 54 seconds?
I said it was probably a TXV issue. TXV stands for Thermostatic Expansion Valve. The TXV controls the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator. Frost at the compressor is an indication that the TXV isn’t restricting the refrigerant flow enough and is allowing liquid refrigerant to reach the compressor. This is a very bad thing. Compressors should never have liquid refrigerant flow into it.
@ Thank You for your time!!!
I have never worked on a Hoshizaki that has a remote condenser before
Oh right on. 👍. They’re pretty common.
Thanks
You’re welcome.
I'm glad I found Your channel. You make some good videos with great content.
I’m glad you found the channel also. Thank you for the compliment.
I love that meter
It’s a pretty solid meter. I used to use the Kline.
What do you normally charge to clean say a Manitowoc indigo on top of a soda fountain machine?
$275 on the lower end. Everything is hourly. The worse the machine the more it will cost.
Window shaker compressor SPECIAL . Good video
lol. Window shakers.
Thanks 🙏 you 😊 great troubleshooting 😊
Thank you.
