    So, I am a musician. I played heavy metal music, and have listen to it for decades now. I also have been a bodybuilder for about six or seven years now (not professional, just dedicatedly training; went from 166lb to 234lb). As a musician, experienced gym trainee, and follower of our Lord, I have a very studied and thoroughly thought through take on this. Would you like to speak more about it?

  • @dravendfr
    @dravendfr 43 минуты назад

    I think what’s important is what the music is conveying. I love listening to bands like HolyName because their intention is clear. Some of my favorite albums before I found faith don’t get touched anymore because of the disrespect they have towards our God. Some of the most faithful music I’ve heard is in the metal genre, and some of the most deceptively Satanic music can come from upbeat techno and pop. Test the spirits.

    Christian metal is a thing. Gospod, Reverorum Ib Malacht, and Opprobrium. Judas Priest most recent album has some Christian lyrics & Jesse David Leach of Killswitch Engage is a Christian.

      @jdsmith2k7 Час назад

      Not everyone who lifts is doing it for vain reasons. Working out is good for the body, it's great for stress and the mind. Our bodies are important. Yes, some people lift just to try to impress others or for narcissistic reasons. But that's their personal issue. It doesn't mean lifting is somehow vain or bad in and of itself.

    • @Zestybot3475
      @Zestybot3475 40 минут назад

      Bro what are you on? God put us on this earth to push our body to its limit(in a good way). Not to be sacks of nothing and just sit around all day. Not everybody lifts purely for looks or to impress others. I lift so I can be strong, imagine your kids need your help but you’re too weak to save them.

    Great perspective! I really appreciate this video. I've been a big heavy music nerd for the last 19 years of my life. I'd prefer to listen to Christian metal and hardcore when I can, but sonically, i love genres like Slam. I dont listen to heavy music for a message or lyrical content (i dont think most Slam bands even have lyrics 🤣 just gutturals). I've never felt like this music was a stumbling block for me or led me to sin. A lot of these bands are cringe and have extremely distasteful aestheics, so i curate accoridngly. An example would be Esophagus, their entire theme is based off of fhe movie Predator which is a lot cooler to me than some unnecessary, edgelord gore. Hardcore actually has a lot of positive messages, and, even though not always explicit, a lot of Christian lyrical themes. 💯☦️

    The only metal bands I ever listen to nowadays are pantera, metallica and megadeth. Since these bands aren't extremely anti religious, they don't have satanic imagery and don't glorify sin like many other bands do. Metallica and megadeth have songs about war, nuclear destruction, religious stories, the corruption of government and more which are all cool topics to me.

    Was super involved with heavy music for 10 years, played in a metal band as well. You have a lot of good Christian metal bands out there, but by and large a lot of Metal bands just flat out don't like, or even hate Christians on a very deeply rooted level. Even if the music isn't inherently evil lyrically, why would you want to support musicians that have a deep disdain for your Faith? Not all, obviously, and everyone is capable of change (Dave Mustaine comes to mind), but giving them your money or your time would seem ill advised.

    Most gyms play wordless Techno music to create that upbeat atmosphere needed for workouts. The concept of 'clean metal' is debatable because the genre itself is born out of rebellion and borderline demonism as most musicians confess and so carry that dark spiritual energy - not the kind of music to be mindlessly working out to. Everything is subjective to the degree of holiness one seeks. Here is some Orthodox teaching about such music ruclips.net/video/IcZxWDjLcGA/видео.htmlsi=pYgH11QISAiXCZvO

    Pastor Michael Foster called fitness an affirmative practice of the 6th (Us Catholics and Orthodox it’s the 5th) commandment. Fitness really is a life promoting practice, and even if men do manual labor and women do tons of housework; you need to keep the engine primed with exercise to carry out your work. The old school men were physical by nature, good gym class, military service by default and manual labor jobs.

    When i was 15 i was obese thanks to poor eating habits passed down from my parents. Lost 30kg and oddly enough fitness led me down a path to become a Christian. When previously I was some nihlistic obese athiest. Been training for three years, and i have pectus excavatum which makes it even harder for me to do this. There is no excuse not to exercise HARD, no matter your genes, age, upbringing or beliefs. Weightlifting will change your life. Also, the gym is not a vanity exercise. Beauty is not something to be seen as evil, and wanting to be beautiful is not vain. It's only vain when you feel superior due to your looks, whether your attractiveness is down to genetic gifts, through exercise or a mix of both. Inspire others through your journey, and help those struggling with fitness also.

      Exactly. I don't see how this is hard to get but maybe it's just because my favorite type of metal had more uplifting introspective lyrics that turned out to be Christian musicians. I wasn't listening to deicide or CC or infant annihilator before i was saved, so I can see if that's your type of metal it may be hard. But in metqlcore there's a ton of good music that even if not Christian doesn't have much swearing at all and lyrically isn't depressing or nihilistic. I've just recently been getting into Christian rap/hip hop

    If you enjoy listening to aggressive music while lifting then you are lifting with aggression, I would avoid lifting with emotion to avoid injury, also if you need aggression to lift weights optimally then that is a problem in itself.

  • @fineartbymattphilleo
    @fineartbymattphilleo 8 часов назад

    I lifted weights in my early 20’s mostly for vanity. Stopped lifting once I got so busy with work and mostly sedentary jobs. Got way out of shape. In my mid 40’s, I saw a Facebook post of a Christian man who showed before and after pics of how he got into shape through weight lifting. And that sparked something in me to get lifting again. At age 47, I’ve been lifting for 1 1/2 years. Loving it. I look better, but that’s a side benefit. I can not only help people move heavy things but I can also live longer (Lord willing) and be around longer to serve the Lord. That being said, I have to fight the temptation to make it about looks and vanity. Great topic for a video!
