Join us as we explore the second half of a multi-level historic abandoned gold mine in part 2 of this video. This mine dates to 1896 with the majority of the development work done between 1902 and 1907. The mine was later worked in the 1930s through early 1940s. Some shipments from this mine carried gold up to 20 ounces per ton. This complex consisted of levels 100 through 700 and the site once had a gravity mill, tramway and some incredible stopes and surface workings.

that has to be a superfund site with the mercury. Super toxic and never leaves.
👍
Wow that is a pretty impressive mine. For looking down open stores from outside like that use a mirror like a big truck side mirror and sunlight it will work better than flashlight.
Thanks for ths suggestion and commenting!
Couldn't Watch All, Hoping to see Some Malachite, or Azurite.
👍
Awesome thank you
Appreciate that. Thank you!
it looks like the earth just said "I have had enough of you digging and just gave way on that whole side
It does, however, that whole open cut/pit was all dug by miners.
HOW ARE YOU NOT TRESSPASSING?
We are on NFS public lands.
Someone added a set of wheels years later. They are not the same size?
That would be very odd, but entirely possible.
@@ghosttownsandminesofwashington those wheels didnt even sit and weather the same? anyone with any brains could see that!
Hello this mine area seems to keep going and going glad you made this explore for us all to tag along .I have a ? Have you ever heard of a very RICH Gold mine in Washington state that the Gold was used for the civil war effort and that there were soldiers killed as well to protect the mine I heard that the mine now has 7 owners and there is also a vast area very rich beside s Gold I heard the story 10 years ago this is a very true story that was told to me by 1 of the owners maybe some day you will hear more and do a big explore of this mine and the history is 100 percent true and the bones of the soldiers are still there to this day ⛏️🙏🇺🇸🤫
We will have to look into it. We are not familiar with any sites that have this history associated.

We have not heard that story. Sounds very interesting. Appreciate you sharing it.
Hello like the way you explore and Not saying where they are .This makes it nice and seeing the mine equipment and building alone the way love these explores and walking in the mines of long ago .p.s. will be watching part 2 as soon as i can 🤫⛏️🤔
Appreciate the comments. Thanks for watching!
Looks very interesting like to see alot more hope soon ⛏️🇺🇸🤔
Thank you
This is a cool mine. Looks about the same as it did many years ago. Some interesting stuff to see in this one.
Yes, indeed. Just needed ropes, etc.
Oh man I was here with Jeff and Todd with the owner (way back in the day.) They found some awesome stuff down there.
Yes, we have heard all the good stories of Jeff getting into some of those places. Just talked to a nearby property owner last week about that.
@@ghosttownsandminesofwashington I found the video I have of Jeff rappelling down, but yikes it looks like VHS quality.
does the guy you are with have a channel also ? I would like to see his point of view also !
No, he is with us and does our shorts on TikTok.
You should bring whips so that you can swing across the open areas. It's easy -- i saw Indiana Jones do it.
Exactly!!! We gave some subtle hints of that theme in the thumbnail.
Watch a couple of mine exploring channels. Thinks it’s great as it is near home. Always heard about coal mines. Not very many gold and silver mines. Coal mines were too dangerous to explore. This is cool.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and your comments. It is very much appreciated.
Amazing exploration. Those tight spaces you have to slip through are difficult for me to watch. I’m glad you guys always play it safe. Thanks for sharing. This is really interesting to me
Thank you for that. We appreciate you watching and your feedback.
Another awesome one good jod Tim Forest
Thank you very much appreciate it!
I would love to see the places you visit, the only thing stopping me.....I know better! I have zero experience in mine exploration and have no need to develope those skills when I can watch your videas.
Its a win win. Thanks for the comment and watching.
I love how old grafiti is usually cursive. Found some under the north bound ramps of the viaduct before it came down.
It is some of the best graffiti we have encountered . Thanks for the comments.
Me exploring a cave in Minecraft that look like it’s about to end but I opens up into a whole other ravine
Exactly!
6 timbers all in a row on the ground next to 1st large compressor could have been the skid it was mound on?
Very possible. Thank you for the comments.
OUCH!
👍
@@ghosttownsandminesofwashington I'm the one you heard below when you tossed the rock down! 🤣😂
@@LoriCurl 🤣🤣
Which trail is this one?
No trail associated with this location.
At 3:25, it is a flat belt pulley; not thick enough for a flywheel. All of that equipment was headed to the mine as nothing was worn.
Appreciate the insights. Thanks!
Really cool explore. That makes two wood ore carts I've seen documented now. The other being somewhere at the portal of an undisclosed desert mine. At 26:51 the graffiti on the left makes reference to the Sunset Mine that is off of Trout Creek in Snohomish. Thanks for bringing us along!
They are no doubt very rare. Thank you for the comments and watching.
at 26:24, that appears to be Louis Willman Jr. 6/29 and the year looks to be wiped out. Doing some digging, I found a Louis Willman Jr. that lived 1915-1985. Might be him.
Very cool, thank you for sharing that.
Does anyone know where you went in case you don't show up for dinner?
Absolutely always.
Like the stills that you mix in.
Good to know. Thank you for the feedback!
You are crazy! You never know if carbon monoxide has built up and if so we will never see you again.
Understand your concern. But we do know we have O2 and gas detectors. Appreciate your comments.
I just found your videos and enjoy them very much, however, the transition between scenes where the video goes blurry is a problem for me. I have suffered from vertigo in the past and those transitions feel like it is going to touch off another bout of vertigo and I have to stop watching.
Appreciate the comments and feedback. We will have to see what we can do.
Been in several caves myself but never any that difficult to access or that fascinating inside. Thank you for bringing us along with you. Be safe.
Thank you. We appreciate you watching and your comments.
Very cool, new subscriber!
Awesome, we appreciate that!
There was a big mercury mine here in cottage Grove Oregon the black Butte mine. When they shut down the gold mines in ww2 the mercury mines kept going.they needed it for making weapons.
During World War II, the U.S. War Production Board issued Order L-208 on October 8, 1942, which closed down the gold mining industry in the United States. The order classified gold mining as nonessential and required operators to immediately shut down their operations. After seven days, operators were also prohibited from using, acquiring, or consuming any materials or equipment for development work. Thank you for the comments!
I wonder how much gold and silver was found.
0.14 oz. Gold, 42 oz. Silver per ton. Grab samples of ore showed 0.27 oz. Gold, 3.1 oz. Silver per ton
I guess higher ups have decided not to keep up roads making it very difficult to reach places you used to be able to drive to. There are two beautiful high mountain lakes/Twin Lakes on a trail right out of Monte Cristo. It's a bit of a climb and about 5 miles. But now with the road allowed to deteriorate, it's a 10 mile hike - more than a lot of people want to do.
Yes, it is a very complicated area when it comes to access, jurisdiction, etc, but a great area nonetheless. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So nice to see this area get some attention! From Tonasket but have property in Wauconda
Very cool, love those areas! Thanks
I look for gold or bring buckets to pan out why not
👍
That is crazy!
👍
Thank you for exploring this. amazing old mine, you are one very gutsy guy !
Thank you very much appreciate you watching and your comments.
I take all my visitors here, the cemetery really adds a nice touch to end things, to see the graves of the people you just read about puts a very human touch on it all. After Molson I usually do a drive through Night Hawk and Loomis and backroads to Tonasket. Such a great area with tons of history. I'd like to include more local history in my videos but it really is hard work to edit everything together in a cohesive manner, I just don't have the confidence for it right now so hats off to you sir lol great video.
Thank you, appreciate that very much.
The mine there isn't no big secret and most know of it's location just follow the dumps up, I don't know why you think anyone is going to hike all the way up to the mine and do something illicit! Then again this is a messed up state anymore.
Well, it has and does happen. There have been several more recent incidents. One incident is being investigated by the NFS as a very historic structure was significantly damaged.
youre very brave cool mine and spooky any snakes bears mt lions ?
Thank you very much. Bears and Mt. Lions active in the area, no encounters. Appreciate your comments.
Those drills and other artifacts absolutely belong in a museum! Its a damn shame they are being left out in the elements.
Yes, it is for sure. Thanks for the comments.
What was the population of this town?
At its peak in the 1890's about 2000.
Helicopter and get those compressors….. get ingersoll to sponsor the picks ….. they are a billion dollar company, I think they can afford a helicopter.
Anything is possible.
IVE ALSO HUNTED UP BEHIND THE HOUSE ON THE HILL SIDE

I GO BY THIS SITE EVERY YEAR FOR HUNTING SEASON AND SOMETIMES IN THE SUMMER
Great area lots of history.
Whoops, this is about mercury not sulfur. Often wondered how they made mercury. 0:22
Was wondering for a second. All good!!!
