i’ve never watched buffy but this scene makes me want to so bad! her acting & the way it was written/filmed is so real. although i do think the stuttering juuuuust crossed over into “too-much” territory. and the way the 911 operator was speaking had me thinking something scary was gonna happen?! idk she seemed strange lol

I know this scene is controversial, but I do think it probably better hammers home the horror of what being a vampire is than anything else. Any intense feeling gets twisted into something dark, malicious, cruel. Love becomes pain, becomes possession. Affection can only be distant and detached, or it becomes something worse and obsessive. Hunger is continuous, the predatory instinct always under the surface. Violence is easy, natural. It emphasizes exactly why so many of them give in to the most brutish instincts - because anything approaching humanity puts them in a horrible limbo where nothing feels good and peace is ever just out of reach. Better a monster than a Frankenstein.

As horrifying as this was, it didn’t surprise me. Spike having a computer chip in his brain conditioning him to not harm humans is not a human soul. A muzzled demon is still a demon. I actually found it insulting Spike lasted this long; that he could fool anybody into thinking he’s anything like Angel and not just another soulless demonically possessed corpse.

I was ten when it aired the first time. It was unconsered. Years later it airs at leat once a year and they managed to cut a bit of this scene. Let me tell you i was terrified when i first saw it

Spike didnt have his soul here. But even without it Spike, after Buffy kicks him away, realizes what he did was wrong. He even says "My god..i Didnt.". Spike was different than Angel without a soul. He could actually love. Angel could not. Both still did horrible thinks without their souls. But this scene right here is what makes Spike get his soul back.

Wasn't there repetitive Salsa music playing when she walked in & out of the kitchen in this scene? What scene was that from if not this one? The music was annoyingly happy & an extremely stark contrast of what was going on. It was a realistic portrayal of how despite personal despair, the world goes on. I know the sound of children/etc. also acts like this, but I could have SWORN it was this scene where the music played.

Watching this originally, he was corny. Watching this now, I feel like he’s the most scary villain in the whole series. He has so much hate for her because she’s a woman. No other reason. He’s a complete misogynist that was waiting years to get power to take her down. Everything he says to her is demeaning her for being a woman.

Glory was my favourite villain. She is so funny and psycho 🤣

Sarah and David should have gotten at the very least, Emmy nods for this scene alone. So many years later, whenever I revisit the show, this whole arc and this scene never fails to break my heart. When Buffy stabbed Angel in the heart, she didn't just stab him, she stabbed all the viewers watching. We felt Angel's physical and emotional pain and our hearts broke right alongside Buffy's as she watched Angel get dragged into hell. The Angelus arc is one of the best on this show, it was so masterfully written and played out.

One of my personal favorite scenes from BTVS. Warren was a real piece of shit and had it coming. It is still satisfying to watch this scene after all these years. Willow did what she had to do.

I experienced almost this exact situation when I found my brother, right down to the cracked ribs. I didn't throw up, but there was a lot of yelling and four letter words coming out of my mouth. That day still pops up in my head every now and then, and probably will continue to for the rest of my life.

All that punching and kicking, a headbutt, and having a rolling ladder thrown at her, but when Willow realizes Anya is casting the spell, she just shoves Buffy into a table and it knocks her out. Lol.
