DRIVEN / Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo at Curborough - WITH DRONE FOOTAGE! - (CarThrottle Track)
Big thankyou to Matt Bearman for the incredible drone footage. The drone control is so impressive, and I can't believe how well the footage came out. This drone was also home made! The aerial footage gives such a great appreciation of the track layout.
Somehow, the opening talk is out of sync. Not sure how, as they audio was never separated, so appears to be an issue with my editing software. Hopefully that isn't too offputting!
I wasn't pushing the Coupe too hard in this video, it's a car I'm trying to look after and enjoy, and the clutch was feeling a little high after all the stop/start traffic getting here on the day!

      I think they could be fair comments. Toyota for this car have certainly made decisions in the name of design that has had knock on compromises, primarily the rear access and the larger wheels. I think it's a nice car, with a great design, decent boot and high levels of equipment, but it is always worth considering alternatives. Unfortunately A- segment cars are becoming few and far between. Thanks for watching and commenting

    Hello! Great review, and video, congratulations!.. However, I would like to point out an essential point regarding the transmission and therefore the traction itself of the 20V Turbo Coupé, which has not been mentioned in the slightest, and which is only present and exclusively on the 20V Turbo versions, both normal 5-speed and special 6-speed, and this is very important! In addition to the mechanical self-locking viscous coupling (Visco Drive) for traction management, there was also a very sophisticated (especially for the 90s era) electronic traction control, called "EBL-ECU" (Electronic Boost Limiter) based on the management and control of turbocharging of the "Garrett TB28" Turbo, in the first 2 gears. The "Bosche Motronic ( ECU )" motherboard is able to identify the first 2 gears engaged, and thanks to the "Pierburg" electronic valve for controlling and managing the supercharging electronically, it reduces the pressure of the turbo compressor, in the event of any and excessive wheel slip, without however cutting off power to the engine like a classic "ETC" and thus causing the classic "serration" or "kickback" to be felt, thus maintaining acceleration performance constant. This sophisticated and ingenious electronic traction control system is also reported and highlighted in various reviews of both Italian magazines such as: "Auto" of 1997, "Quattroruote" of 1999, and also international ones such as: "AutoCar, and others.. .. It should be noted how the cohesion of these two Electronic (EBL-ECU) + Mechanical (Visco Drive) systems worked in unison in the name of mimesis, without the latter being physically combined in a single block like a classic VDC . In essence the mechanical self-locking "Visco Drive" acts as the "TC" (Torque Transfert), and the electronic "EBL-ECU," (Electronic Boost Limiter) as the "Traction Control." SORRY IF IT'S LITTLE!!! I WOULD SAY TRULY EXCEPTIONAL!!!! Greetings, and... Compliments!!! Bye. P.S: The prices of the 20V Turbo, especially the 6-speed Special versions with push-button ignition, Recato interior, Duomi Sparco bar, front spoiler and side skirts with specific or real design: Limited Edition: "Numbered and certified like the Lancia Delta Evo 2." Plus Edition: "Derived from the Limited Edition." "My 99 Édition: "Derived from the Plus Edition, they are going to the STARS!!!!!!"

    • @carmanick
      @carmanick 28 дней назад

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. That is incredible knowledge and thanks for sharing. I was aware the 'LSD' is a viscoodrive so I guess not a proper mechanical LSD although it is trying to do the same thing of improving traction. However the boost management I was not aware of. That sounds so clever and very advanced for the 90s, being able to have that control, sounds like a real clever way of trying to keep as much performance as possible but not overwhelming the car/traction, which on big boosted FWD cars like this was quite common. Thanks again for sharing, I plan to do a full video soon (this was a short one and I was launching gently). Your car sounds very special, how long have you had it? The LE and plus are very desirable and worth quite a bit in the UK

    These cars were so underrated. Jeremy clarkson gave it a poor review on screen but always asked Renault for one when ha had a long journey on as he loved being in it. I had so many Renault 25, several Safane but sadly I never owned one of these which I deeply regret! A 3.5 would be such a monster!

    • @carmanick
      @carmanick Месяц назад

      Yeah I think so too. Clarksons reviews wasn't great, and nor are other RUclips videos on the car, but none of those are from people actually living with it! I do think the lineage is great, I love the 25 and safrane, not had either so you've had a great history of Renault's! The Vel Satis I think continues the theme but the styling outside is perhaps out there! The interior of the 25 is very special imo. The 3.5 V6 is certainly the engine to have, but with my V6 Avantime, the 2.0 just seemed more sensible. I also wanted a manual! My Vel Satis is a privilege (mid spec but highest spec you could get the 2.0 in), but has some nice options fitted like the leather interior and rear blinds. Thanks for watching and commenting. Never too late to own a Vel Satis, although they may need more attention nowadays as they are getting on!

    Great video! I bought a new Aygo X Edge Manual in 'Chilli Red' last September as my daily commuter. I agree with your findings, the rear seats are quite useless, though I doubt I'll ever need to put anyone in the back as I've got bigger cars. The 18" wheels are a compromise, I have a set of 17" wheels from the 'Pure' model that I used through winter, and they transformed the car. But overall, I love it! Its fun to drive, funky to look at and cheap to keep. Great spec too, particularly like having the adaptive cruise and auto lights & wipers. Mine has just started freeing up nicely at 5,000 miles, now much more eager to rev and sounds smoother, I've averaged 60mpg so far. Lots of those are on long runs, in fact I've just been to France and Belgium with it, fine for two people and luggage, with surprisingly comfortable seats. I went Aygo X over the competitors because of the engine, it's reliability is well proven, it's frugal and characterful. Plus the long Toyota warranty and general styling of the car appealed.

As you say, packed with lots of kit from larger cars, and the warranty is amazing (that is extended if you service with Toyota). Sounds like you've gone really far with it, so clearly a great companion for longer trips! Love the colour scheme too, red + black (probably quite similar to the prologue concept?! I bought this car and I am waiting for it to be delivered, and the wheel size is maybe the thing that I was most indecisive with when choosing the trim, I went with 17"

    Very capable; and it never ceases to impress me driving on the highways. I have heard from many sources that the 955-957 generation is genuinely the off-roader; later generations are more for high speeds and posh living! I think this generation of the Cayenne will certainly become a future Porsche classic!

    Hello from Slovenia. I am a proud owner of a 2019 1.5 TSI 6 speed manual and the car is doing great. I had the oportunity to drive the DSG and I was not impressed with the gearbox so I opted for the smooth manual. Im scared what im going to buy when its time to part with my Sportsvan... I hope small MPVs come back in vogue by then. Cheers fron the sunny Adriatic coast.

      Hi again, sorry didn't see your comment here too! I haven't driven a DSG, but some people think dual clutch automatics can be quite jerky. I am happy with a manual! Yeah we have the same problem, there are not many new cars which are practical inside and still quite small like the Sportsvan. I think maybe the BMW 2 series active tourer is the closest, and I do quite like it, but it's expensive! Shame the Renault scenic isn't so practixal or clever anymore! Hi, so I found having a.jumo starter on gave enough power to move the seat back electrically. Can you get to the bolts at the front to be able to tip the seat back? Maybe you will need to undo the rear bolts and physically lift and move back the seat? It is hard because the battery is so big, you need to lift it quite high at the front to slip it out

      Yes 4.5 V8, 2003. I’ve owned the car for about 12 months and love it, especially as the car only cost 3k to purchase, yes I’ve spent that again on maintenance etc. The only downside for me is the fuel economy but I new that before I purchased. I think the styling has aged really well, I didn’t like the looks when they first came out and think they could have done better in this regard. However, now it’s a car of this value, the looks are not bad at all.

    • @carmanick
      @carmanick 4 месяца назад

      @@TheRaven. Very nice and that's great. Yeah unfortunately they can be cheap to buy, but not necessarily cheap to run or repair! But it comes with the territory with having a sophisticated luxury car! Yeah fuel economy hits hard but at least it makes a nice sound when burning through all that fuel ;p. Yeah I don't think I thought much of it when new, but I actually really like the styling now. Maybe compared to newer stuff it just better proportioned or maybe it just doesn't seem as outrageous as it did back then, after every manufacturer has forced their styling on an SUV shape. Thanks for watching and hope you continue to enjoy your Cayenne!

    I have a 2014 1.4TSI Highline from virtually new. To date it has 216500 km. Very reliable, only had the original battery fail after 7 years. I live in the German Eifel region which is quite cold in winter. From November through to April the roads are salted. The bodywork is AOK, but it does take a toll on the brakes, especially the rears one. I have had to replace the rear discs twice and the actual brake bodies once.

    • @carmanick
      @carmanick 4 месяца назад

      Oh that's brilliant, and that's a good number of km! Good to know it has been so reliable. Ours has been good but we've had some problems with interior leaks. Yeah salted roads are not nice for cars, even if the bodies are galvanised and resist, other components may not resist. Was highline the top specification in Germany? We had different names for the trim levels. Thanks for watching and commenting

      @@carmanick I did forget to mention one issue, its a known fault with the Golf Mk 7 and the Sportsvan. Water can leak into the rear cabin, it comes from the the rear loudspeakers. They are riveted into the door card and water can get past them if the speaker mount is cracked and run into the rear footwells. It happened with out car, left side rear passenger door/speaker. Simple replacement.

    • @carmanick

      @@zundappuk ah thankyou. We had one leak from the body air vents behind the bumper sorted, but we also have a leak I think from the speakers like you say. I will get that sorted. Our front seat seems to be damper than our rears, so maybe it's the front speakers. Thanks for your feedback and information!

    • @carmanick
      @carmanick 4 месяца назад

      Yeah well I tried to make my life easy ;p. But yeah to access the other side you need to turn the wipers on, then turn the ignition off while they are in the 'up' position. That will move the wiper linkage over, to give access. A bit of a phaff but doable!
