Hey, appreciate the shoutout given to the solo PvE community. Most of us like the challenge aspect of the game with soloing because of how relevant it is. It starts from playing Wizard101 normally like everyone else, but a lot of us did not have the time to wait for others to help us with some of those difficult boss fights in random worlds, so we used what we had access to in order to beat those fights instead of waiting for someone to come to our rescue. That feeling of satisfaction of beating something solo is what drives "soloists" (term coined for people who like to solo very challenging fights) to even solo fights that the average wiz layman thinks is impossible. However, standard mode wizard101 was made challenging by using interrupt-cast style cheats to become challenging rather than making the challenge based on specific balanced numbers. Because of this design methodology, "soloists" never considered any of these things difficult, but rather just challenging because they require you to give yourself the best chances of beating it, which means having all of your gear, including your pet tailored to surviving the fight as best as possible. The gear also considers the strategy you use to win the fight, and even the number of cards in the deck are built so that you minimize RNG as much as possible. Obviously KingsIsle recognizes the fact that there are PvE players that want more challenging content, however, the way they seem to be going about it is from a non-solo players' perspective, since the game is intended to be played with up to 4 players at a time. Because of this, and because their new "advanced content" system is completely balanced around a formula that factors every stat in the game, it becomes difficult or outright impossible to realistically solo some of these 4-player instances. Of course, I have not actually tried any of them so I still do not consider them impossible, but a lot of this standard mode content soloing comes from using things available to make the fight easy, and now that KI designers have staff among them who actually played the game in the past, they are aware of a lot of these "available things" to intentionally design around the loopholes we "soloists" exploited 😂 Anyways, very nice video, 50 minutes is a bit long for me, but if I get a chance at work, I'll try to listen to the entire thing in the background. That's usually how I am able to consume content these days, I don't have a lot of time to "watch" things, but I have plenty of time to listen.

I remember trying to do Darkmoor with a 3 man team and when we got to the final boss, and we kept dying so at some point we had this cycle where we would just keep dying and coming back while the others were hanging on. It was a WILD ride but we did it in the end. That was probably the most fun I ever had with the game too

I have not played wizard101 in quite some time, and I still remember how much of a pain the graveyard was, but the rewards were great. Edit: Storm wizards can use steal charm on the Supercharge from Von Shane to get a big boost in damage.

21:18 The difference isn't obvious because they didnt update the card icon since it isn't player available, but the 8 pip frostbite is an AOE vs the 5 pip single target.

I love the explanation of cards and combat at the beginning of this video. It's the most complete explanation of how combat works that I've seen. It would make a really great standalone video because that's the hardest part of getting people into this game. I try to teach people the combat but it's hard to explain it as concisely and completely as you have.

*Brother sorry but it's not the hardest challenge in wizard101 by far. I respect the grind and this challenge though. The hardest challenge in the game is being beaten by Waynevanilla right now which is completing wizard101's every world without taking any damage* :) nice vid though
