No with the Sony you do not have to turn on Dolby vision each time a disc is set in to play you set it up to Dolby vision auto !

the so called physical media resurgence is baffling to me. This isn't a case of us throwing out carboard nintendo boxes, viewing it more like packaging on average. People threw their movies in the trash because they thought they were stupid and useless and that Netflix was always going to be the only streaming service that would always have everything they always want to watch. The fact everyone insisted on abandoning physical altogether and now thinks were being cheated by not having, justifies itself. As a lifetime physical media collector, i can say with confidence. Physical media isnt coming back, studios can now sell you a movie digitally and then remove the purchase if they wish to remove it from a service, and theyre not taking that back.

I have a ps5 but i just don't trust consoles anymore, they will NOT pass the test of time, at least from the ps4 and ps5 era ones, so i really think someone that has alot of BD having a player is much better, but if u have some bd movies and dont use often, ps5 or xbox is just fine I am currently looking for a good DVD player that is region free, but i am not sure yet what is the best possible choice

Hi there, i don’t speak english very well, and i have a question. On the shoot at 1:44 i saw local changing of exposure in shadows. Did u lock exposure? Last time i see the effect of local tonmapping in apple log, also when exposure is locked, and it so horrible for working, i bought an iphone for apple log with minimum of automatic algorithms, and i found it. Something I don’t hear many people talking about is how after about 15-20 minutes filming in ProRes Log at 4k60 the phone will consistently stop the recording because of dropped frames due to “overheating” even though the phone isn’t hot at all. I saw a post about it on the black magic forum and a couple Reddit posts but nobody seems to have any advice or solution other than “drop the frame rate”

Ten or so years ago I had a LG tv and the YT-app could not keep up with YT going higher resolutions. I assume due to processing speed and/or memory. Bought a Sony S6700 player with YT-app and was fine again.

Why not just get a PS5 or Xbox? Then you get both.

2:24 I've had this (Sony)for years now....I definitely would NOT get it again! Too many glitches and does not switch to dolby vision automatically, you have to go in the settings and switch it. Annoying

When I am shooting outdoor in blackmagic app using 180* angle shutter the sky becomes very bright , and only way possible to reduce exposure is lowering shutter angle but that also not helping much. I also try reducing ISO but still not helping, Do we need ND filter compulsory to shoot outdoor in iPhone?

My ND filters are no where strong enough to film with 1000+ ISO, I hope its not that bad to stick with 55 ISO, but its good to know I can push it to 1000+ during night time and still get good video!

I replaced my 4 different streaming subscriptions with an AMC membership. I’m in the movies atleast 4 times a month and I purchase physical DVDs or Blu-rays. RUclips premium surprisingly has an amazing catalogue of movies to discover, popular anime series and some nostalgic blockbusters -So this is the only place I stream. This streaming war has gotten way out of hand, I really needed to touch grass again.

An oversimplification of HDR formats. DV is not universally "better" than base HDR10. How beneficial DV is or isn't depends entirely on your display. On a C1 which struggles with HDR10 due to lackluster peak brightness and similarly lackluster HDR tone mapping, yes DV will deliver a visible improvement. On newer LG WOLEDs like the G4 or QD-OLEDs from Samsung or Sony, you won't see much difference at all between HDR10 and DV. DV is an aid to subpar displays, not a generally "better" format

Actually Joe, with the X700 you don’t have to run two HDMI cables (one to TV, one to Soundbar) if you have eARC. eARC is bidirectional so all you needs is to run an HDMI cable from HDMI 1 on the player to an HDMI port on your soundbar/system. The bidirectional eARC HDMI from the soundbar to the TV passes through the video. Works great.

Just run BM app on factory default settings (auto) then tap screen in a mid tone area for correct exposure. Never fails. When something is not broken don't try and fix it. 🙏

I'm getting one of these today and the real reason is because I have a 2010 flagship Pioneer Elite SC57 9.1 receiver that I refuse to get rid of, it has Class D3 amps that have enough power for my 9 Infinity Primus P363 tower speakers, excellent SINAD, THX Ultra 2 Plus certification, excellent deinterlacing and upscaling for my VHS tapes, and it has in my opinion the best audio upmixer on the planet dts neo x which lets me use my front wide channels 100% of the time. Unfortunately this receiver can't handle anything over 1080P and it cuases handshake/HDCP problems with 4k HDR equipment. With 2 HDMI outputs this won't be a problem, plus it's nice to know that the 820 has an HDMI optimizer and is region free. And word of advice, turn the audio upscaling in the 820 off, it's a gimmick, let your receiver do the upmixing properly, it will sound way better using a Dolby or DTS upmixing algorithm backed by decades of experience and industry standards than it will with whatever compromise Panasonic has developed in house. Also I'm going to get an nVidia Sheild TV Pro and an HDMI audio extractor so I can prevent the same issues my old receiver causes with HDMI.

I got the X700, and can confirm the upscaling on that is brilliant. Unfortunately, I can't really enjoy it much any more, since it has developed a problem reading DVD menus. I can get to the menu, and sometimes I can select the options, and it will be fine. But other times it won't allow me to select anything. I have to use my old PS3 instead, or VLC on my computer, but the upscaling is non-existent with those.

This completely wrecked me on a recent night time project. I thought my blacks were safely exposed high enough, as I was showing green 18%MG on false colour for my dark areas, when in fact everything was massively underexposed and false colour just didn't show anything below that - it stops at the green! The fact that the histogram also stopping showing levels under that 18% meant I thought I was ok there as well. This I just for Apple Log, the other 3 colour space options in the app show the full range of false colour and histogram
