The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in 2024(Review)
Просмотров 8582 месяца назад
This girl crazy The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a show that's a bit deceptive. While on the surface it seems like a average slice of life anime, the show is able to blend this element with a intriguing larger mystery and world. What really makes the show is Kyon, Haruhi, and all of the S.O.S Brigade and how they interact with one another. The movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is a...

how anything not an highlight for you on icedancer but I do agree the second half has some weaker song not exactly bad though not a perfect album for me..but more consistent than eversince imo at the same time the highest points of eversince are probably better Don't agree with you on eversince I found the second half to be a lot weaker Personally S tier Gluee-Exeter-Cold Visions A-The Fool-Crest (these 5 are perfect imo) but the first 3 I'm personally more attached to

There are way too few reviews for the NGE manga on YT. I liked the pace and the small changes a lot. Shinji saving Asuka in the last EVA fight was a well deserved victory for both. The end with the endless winter is bittersweet, but life goes on, and the panel with their reunion at the train station is one of the most beautiful in the whole manga series. The extra chapter with Mari is also interesting and gives a little bit of backstory.

The manga was my introduction to the franchise. I was used to franchises like one piece and naruto, which were intended to be manga that later got adapted into tv. Little did I know Eva was always intended to be an anime franchise first and foremost.

I love the songs on a musical level but the volume jumps and sudden harsh high frequency sounds played give me brain damage as a headphones listener. this album shines for me on drives early in the morning before the sun comes up, i just wish it was mixed a bit less abrasively for headphones.

Hiiiii!!!! Thank u for giving my art some of ur time!! im glad you liked the cover its also one of my favorite parts of it. I drew it in like I think 10 minutes? And it was a complete fluke it’s so hard to draw this bunny now every attempt just does not capture its delicacy and elegance the way that cover does. Also her name is Izzy in case you were wondering,,, From everyone who listened to the album its seems like wilt is the common least favorite. Which honestly has really shocked me as I thought that was such an emotionally striking conclusion. The last minute of it alone is enough to justify its length for me the abrupt cut of every single noise save for the sine wave was something I was SOO proud of and it’s always stuck with me as such a fucked ending. (Also the song in my mind would have been wayyyy longer like ~20 minutes so like hahaha thankfully I didn’t do that). I really thought everyone listening would be really affected by it. Wilt was originally going to be on a 2 song ep as the closer on that and it was meant to be an interpretation of heaven after u died in the first song which was like a noise drone song. It was This kind of weird unfamiliar kind of disorienting collage of so many noises and smells and looks that you can get a full grasp on and it was scary but u were filled with curiosity. I ended up scrapping that ep cuz i didn’t really have the passion for it (the first song on it also was considered for the album which like thank god I didn’t do that) and then the idea for an ambient album got to me near the end of 2023 and I started work on <3. The idea for making that last song from the ep a part of the album came to me around halfway when I’d already finished a few of the songs, and I thought to myself “hey that’d be cool I still think it’s a neat idea maybe I can actually finish it.” When first putting it into <3 I just thought of it the same way you did. This was just supposed to disorient you make you feel uncomfortable etc etc. but as I came closer to finishing the album I started thinking of it differently. I wanted to keep how I view wilt secret so everyone could make their own conclusion from it but,, like,, nobodies making analysis videos of this it has 6 ratings on rym and everyone who listens to it just fucking hates that song apparently so 😭😭😭To me the song means multiple things, some of them I only ever thought of after I released the album. (My ability to take more away from MY OWN album has been part of the reason I love it so much and why it means so much to me. It’s something that evolves and ages with m and adapts to my current needs and feelings I think) for one it’s about, well, wilting, dying. Eventually it gets too hard to keep living the noise gets too overbearing and you die. The album died, it’s over. Viewing this album as its own living organism is something that I’ve really loved doing. Maybe not one organism but something alive it’s its own ecosystem maybe and each song details a different part of it while the final song details its possible decay, the death of the animals inside it, the wilting of its flowers. There’s definetly a really big shift in the second half towards a more melancholic and skeletal sound compared to the first half which was more peaceful, ethereal, alive, dense (for me those are the densest songs I’ve made) and dandelion is kinda the bridge in between. And I see that as sort of this gradual decline, into nothingness, in a way the album represents life. I really wanted to capture the feelings of nature, love, and life on the album and I think I did it really well personallyyyy,,, there also the other thing, the whole Bandcamp description that I made. The idea this is somebody’s head and all the different moods they experience. Willow is the beautiful whimsy of discovery, breathe is the wind down after a really rough day, Lake is the anxiety and depression while dragonfly is peace and acceptance. And then wilt is just every horrible thing you can think of yourself. The words being unintelligible or from a different language being alienation, how muffled everything is being the dissociation the numbness, the out of place nature sounds being your inability to fit in or really feel like your doing things right, the noise being all ur anxieties and insecurities. The abrupt cut could then be interpreted as a suicide in some way. There’s this one song by Patricia taxxon (I know she isn’t the best person to bring up but I feel like this is importsnt) called glass where it’s just pure noise overlayed on top of what I assume is a tv show or movie or music idk. I’ve always kind of been fascinated by this song and I feel it represents trying to do something you love while ur in a shit mental state to take ur mind off it and it just doesn’t work the noise doesn’t go away. It’s really evocative for me. And after listening to that song I was reminded of wilt. On top of the noise are just random songs I like slowed down and low passed to hell, you can barely make them out but they’re there. Born yesterday a king krule song and some Ichiko Aoba song, buried underneath, some attempt to overpower the noise but one that only adds to it. So add that to the list of random interpretations I’m just spewing out of my mouth right now. I think about this album a lot, obviously, and some of my feelings may conflict with others in their reasonings, but that’s part of why I love it so much, it’s something I’m always thinking about differently, there will never be one specific purpose or meaning behind that album. Seeing wilt be viewed this way honestly should have been expected. Nobody thinks like me and nobody really knows exactly how I think and to everyone who listens it’s probably just mush music. I hope what I’ve said can maybe sway your opinions or think differently about wilt. ur take on the lack of cohesion on the album, I don’t have nearly as much to say about. I see it as each song fading out then fading in with no real transition to be kinda like closing your eyes then waking up in a new location and I like that. I can see how I could connect everything together and still retain that “loosely connected random atmospheres” but I don’t think the eye closing and waking up thing could be retained by doing that. Idk that’s just kinda my thought process with that. Kind of unrelated but I’m also filled to the absolute brim with joy and whimsy that somebody out there likes “I FEEL SO PRETTY”, the album I barely worked on over the course of like 2 months, more than my album that my whole like fuckin life has been leading up to basically. (On his rym it’s listed as an 8 lollll) IFSP is bordering on complete shitpost 90% of the time it is the least serious piece of art I think I’ve ever made, not to say I didn’t care I obviously had a vision and took time to make it the way it is, but it’s basically just fart music to me and the fact u fw it for whatever reason just makes me kick my feet and scream into my pillow. I don’t feel like rereading and revising all this so if it’s kind of incoherent and rambly that’s why. Thank you again!!

AAAAAH! I Needed the constructive criticisms so thank you! The reason for the opening track being so long is because I wanted it to reflect how down in the dumps you can feel before a journey and how long it takes to get there, I also tried to add subtle variations while everything built up, like some delays coming into the mix more and even airplane samples. For the rest of it its kind of the same with subtle variations in the mix. These are ambient songs that take you away from where you currently are. The whole album is meant to be a location and the soundscape of it. Great to be in the video :DDDD Edit - Putting this on RYM so if anyone does hear it I would love to see your criticisms there :D
