I struck FIREWOOD GOLD at the local tree dump. Time to load some logs with the Kioti tractor
Просмотров 310Месяц назад
A recent trip to my local tree dump I found some honey locust logs. It's not very often I find this species of tree out there so I jumped at the chance to grab some to add to my firewood stocks for next year. Honey locust is a very dense heavy wood with great heat output in the wood stove. This will probably be used for me personally since it's rare to get my hands on some.

HA! If you watch all my videos you'll probably get most of your questions answered. Not everyone has the time to watch them all though. Thanks for stopping in
@timbervisions i just got me a blockbuster so now I need logs lol
@rogerl8488 that is an important step lol
I see tou have nice rack and bags which i was going use so do you like them? Also where did you get rack and bags? Thanks for vid . New subscriber..
@rogerl8488 i welded up the rack myself. I get most of my bags from shaverequipment.com here is link to video on the bag rack ruclips.net/video/Q0G2z-9T4SY/видео.html
oh, and yes, I like using the bags. I'm not a huge producer so they work well for my system. I used to stack and then hand throw all the firewood. What a major waste of time. Now i split right into these bags and dump them out with my tractor into trailers or pickups. Save a major amount of time in wood handling. Gives me more time to put towards production or running my sawmill. Thanks for the sub!
Put mining belt for wings so wood wont jump out
Not a lot of mining in Iowa, but I've been doing some thinking on what to put there for that purpose. Thanks for sharing your idea!
@timbervisions i saw a guy buy 2 pieces of aluminum . It's on utube. Also, where do you get your bags? I went bought me a new conveyor like yours but it's has a chain. I love it. Thank you
Saw the Hearthstone. it is the deep felt sensecof security in having heat to protect my wife and dogs when grid goes. My Hearthstone looks Tartarian and being soapstone heat is more agreeable and manageable.
I know exactly how you feel. I prefer the soapstone stove as well. It's a more even heat and lasts long after the fire goes out.
Probably basic. I alway enter the tractor from the left side which saves any stress on the joy stick. Agree i wish they made it about 6" s shorter. Have to reach way to high IMO. I'M 6' 2" BUT OLD AND SKINNY.
@CliffordMaxfield entering on the right side with this tractor is better than the ones that have the stick coming off the loader making it impossible, but i always enter on the left as well. I did enjoy the little ground clearance this tractor has. Having it lower would take that away. Just goes to show. There will never be a perfect tractor for everyone.
Use a piece of pvc 2-3" long on each side where the belt is rubbing at the lower end. Cut the pvc 2-3" long then cut it long ways with a multi tool, (Sawzall will ma,e cut too wide to self hold) then tap it on with a hammer, this will prevent the belt from catching the edge kf the metal a d causing more tearing. As for conveyor falling, just put a rope from the corner triangle on your bag stand, tie one side securely, run the rope under the conveyor (maybe through thenadjustment bolts?) and the other side tie a slip knot on the oppside triangle, then lower the conveyor onto it.
@Mountaintoptractor the tearing was because it was out of adjustment. There are rollers there to help prevent tearing as well, but I didn't notice it for far too long. As far as the rope thing, the conveyor is far too heavy for any rope to hold it. I've used a ratchet strap similar to how i think you described and it held it, but can also be in the way sometimes. I've learned to live with it. It's a small annoyance at most.
I need another Timber Visions sticker. Would you be willing to send me one?
@@KNLFirewood you bet! I'll get one on the way to you

That is from Original Tractor cab company. If you google it you'll find them. It was handy to have in the winter months. Hope that answers your question.
Id go broke with that pricing $2.50 per inch???? I run an 80,000 sg75. That stump would be a $650 job with grinding only.
@chaddemler6367 good thing I don't make a living grinding stumps. I have a full-time job and do this on the side. There is no need to overcharge in my case. Each area is different on pricing as well. Thanks for stopping in.

Get a block heater
@vinnyd822 that is an option. I traded off that little tractor a year and a half ago. Great little unit, just needed something bigger.
I'm on electric heat, so supplementing with wood during the peak cold season could be helpful. I also like being able to have a backup heat source if needed. We have a couple acres of woods so it would be sustainable too. Lots of good information. Thanks!
@@beardedrockinhillbilly i think you'd benefit greatly in your situation. Best of luck!
I can tell you it's a perfect combination for me. Last year i upgraded from a wood oil furnace & wood stove to a electric furnace and wood stove. Electric heat is awesome for spring/fall as it's so convenient. We burn wood all winter and it definitely saves us plenty of money and you just cant beat the ambience from a nice wood stove in the family room.
We have electric base board heaters but mainly use our wood stove. Have the base boards for back up for those extreme cold nights or when we are not home for a few days. We also have solar panels so that helps with the price of electric heat. I can tell you it's very nice to have heat when the power goes out!
@andyshultz2088 we've had the power go out as well. Just throw another log or two on. That's a great feeling of calm knowing the house will stay warm.
@@FreedomFighter485 I bet it saves you plenty during the winter time. It's hard to beat that wood heat.

An idea would be to use a spiral cone splitter attachment for your tractor. You can use them to split long logs and rounds. Some are made to go on auger attachments. I bet you could work quicker with it. Here is an example: ruclips.net/video/5c2L0ODVErk/видео.html
@benp3976 I've seen videos of those being used. I made this attachment myself, and it works well for me.
Not bad Tim. I see it takes some "setup" time to get your positioning just right with your tractor, but not too bad at all. I've actually looked into buying a set of rotating pallet forks to accomplish the same thing as you're doing. I forget what they cost exactly, but it was more than I was willing to spend at the time. Good video!
I think for totes rotating forks is the way to go. With these bags this is the best system I've seen. Both are better than stacking and throwing wood by hand.
@@timbervisions for sure!
That’s a great idea!!
Glad you think so! Thanks for stopping in
Nice job. Just started using the log lift bags this year. They seem to work well.
I've been enjoying them. I was concerned that they would hold up until I actually started using them. They are quite durable. Thanks for stopping in!
Great idea, where do you get those bags and how much do you sell one bag for?
I get the bags from shaverequipment.com and each bag is 1/3 of a cord. I sell them for $120 each if I dump the bag. I add $20 if they take the whole bag. If they bring one back, then I don't charge that deposit next time.
Thanks Tim, great idea, anytime you reduce the handling makes it more efficient and saves on the body.
Hopefully the video was helpful. Thanks for stopping in
Good job Tim👏🏻🇺🇸

There is a high gear on that trailer jack...
@@LyleMathews no there isn't. Click the link in the description of the video I made answering that comment. Some do, but not this jack.
Nice job! What I've done is cut the big rounds to 12" thickness. Use one flat on the ground for splitting base. Lay piece to split flat on top of that base with edge hanging over the lower piece. Split easily with Fiskars 36" splitting axe by flaking around the edges. Just keep turning the top piece so it hangs over the lower. Like busting concrete. Very fast. Very low-tech. Good exercise. 12" a lot easier than 16" lengths.
@Maynardtkrebs when I used to split all my wood by hand i did it very similar to that. I split way too much anymore to do it all by hand. Just don't have the time for it. Happy splitting my friend!
Cranking my trailer jack is one of the few pleasures left in my life.
I'm sorry to hear that. I guess if it brings you joy I don't judge. Happy trailer jack cranking my friend!
@2:09 - the reason it has the shaft all the way through is so you can hook up a second one of these jacks for a heavier trailer. I've got a gooseneck trailer that uses two of these with a pipe in between, so one handle cranks both of them.
That makes sense to me!
I'VE USED THIS STYLE TRAILER FOR 50+ YEARS AND NEVER FOUND THAT HAVING TO TAKE 1 MINUTE TO CRANK A TRAILER UP BY HAND WAS A BIG HEART ACHE. JUST SAYIN
To each their own. Time is important to me. It's less the action of it and more of the time of it. I'm glad you don't mind cranking for a minute. I don't have time for that.
I like your videos. Thank you for taking the time to do them. I was looking to upgrade my tractor (open station TC33 New Holland). Was looking at a 2023 Kioti dk5320se Cab. But during my research I came across a video where the guys was unhappy with the hydraulics, basically in winter felt they were not as responsive or refined as his Kubota. That gave me hesitation. Any thoughts on this 5320 tractor or hydraulics?
I've tested some Kubotas while deciding to get the Kioti and I agree, the Kubota hydraulics are much better. When it comes to lift capacity, the kioti wins. Kioti is also heavier so less weight is needed to be added to lift heavy. If you aren't planning to do heavy lifting and mostly use the loader for very fine work AND you have the budget, I'd go with a Kubota. If you want value for your money, lift capacity, and a heavy duty machine, go with the kioti. That's why I went the way I did for the most part. That and Kubota won't give much on trade ins. At least my dealer didn't. Best of luck on your journey!
@@timbervisions appreciate the response, yes price always seems to be my driving factor, even when it doesn't need to be. In this case since it's a large expense and likely my last tractor, really thinking about the difference in brands if in the long run the color (orange/green) will be worth the money. My last tractor, i bought 20 plus years ago. I have utility uses for my tractor, mainly a little of everything but i seem to use the loader mostly, brush hog, and box blade for maintaining a long gravel private drive.
