(Oct 1) Electronica
I haven't done this kind of jam since before the summer, so felt like trying something a bit more melodic.
The melody is sequenced with Meta-Q in Ornament & Crime. I'm feeding Meta-Q (using the Phyrygian mode) with 3 lfos from Vector Space, which are selected in turn using Muxlicer as a kind of sequential switch (I also played with the sliders on Muxlicer to help set the melody). Vector Space is being fed a random looping lfo from Pam's as well as two synced lfos from Batumi. Cizzle is the voice, and it's going through Three Sisters. I also made a recording of the melody in Morphagene and made a couple of loops (pitched up slightly), and these loops go through Mimeophon for reverb/delay an...

(Sep 26) Repetitive glitch + chord // Live Eurorack jam
Просмотров 123День назад
I was playing around with Compare 2 and Pam's Pro Workout today, trying to sequence some glitchy, repetitive beats alongside a chord from CIZZLE. I feel like the chord could have been more interesting - might have been better to filter it more, but it sounded a little 'boomy' when I did that in Three Sisters. I probably should have patched another filter after Three Sisters, but it was getting ...
(Soft glitch jam) "Autum(n)aton"
Просмотров 10314 дней назад
Tried making something a bit more sparse and ambient, while keeping some slightly hectic glitchy beats in there. The beats are sequenced by Pam's and Particles (from Patching Panda). Particles also sends gates to trigger envelopes that I sent to CIZZLE and a couple of filters (Variable Q and Three Sisters) to create the melody/chords. A copy of the chords is recorded into Morphagene and slowed ...
Tokyo dub // Live Eurorack jam
Просмотров 19821 день назад
Here are a few more shots that I took on my phone on my recent walks around Tokyo to accompany my latest jam. The beats here are sequenced by Patching Panda's Particles module and come from BIA, Akemie's Taiko and the UTTU USB for Squid Salmple. The chords are Akemie's Castle going through Variable Q filter, PE-1 eq module from ALM, the Non-linear Memory Machine and Mimeophon. The whole mix is ...
(Sep 9) Glitchy beats and melody (sequenced by Joranalogue Compare 2)

First jam in a month! There are some things I like about this jam, and quite a few more that I don't. I should really have approached it with more of a plan, but after a while away I got excited and just started plugging in cables without much thought. The chords are from CIZZLE going through Non-Linear Memory Machine (Holocene Electronics), Three Sisters (Mannequins) and Data Bender (Qu-Bit). ...

[This is a re-upload of my last video, which is now unlisted. The original video had a flickering light effect which was a little bit too much for some people. I've completely toned down that effect in this video by putting a black screen over it. If for some reason you would like to see the original effect, please check the Instagram video, which you can find at discoclive ] In ...
Live in Kodaira [New Bandcamp Release] - four tracks of glitchy ambient dubscapes and electronica
Просмотров 1802 месяца назад
I've put another release for free download on Bandcamp: yassokiiba.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-kodaira I've been working on the tracks for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure how successful they are, but they are free at least! They are another few tracks of (slightly) glitchy dubscapes and electronica that started as live recordings on my modular system. Each live jam was quite long, and I edited t...
Rainy Tokyo Eurorack dub

I haven't uploaded anything in a while, although I did manage to record a jam last week. However, I wasn't entirely happy with it at the time, so I just recorded the audio to keep a record of it and didn't make a video of the jam. Since then, I've come back to it and thought maybe I'd share it in the end after all... As I didn't record a video of the jam, I've used some videos I recorded in Tok...
June 25 lo-fi glitch (beats sequenced by Particles)
Просмотров 2373 месяца назад
I hadn't used Patching Panda's Particles for a while (too long!) - I'd forgot how fun it is to make glitchy and unusual beats with it. With this jam, I was hoping to push the compression and eq to get a sort of lo-fi/glitch feel that I hoped might work with the beats. To make these beats, I sent a Euclidean rhythm from Pam's to Particle's clock in. I then sent four more looping trigger sequence...
June 25 dub

I've included more shots of the modules in this video, as well as some shots from the window of my room - to give a little more context. This was another jam where I was playing around with compression and sidechaining. I sidechained three parts of the mix: 1. The kick is sidechained to the bass. So, when there is a kick the bass dips in volume - which should give the kicks a little more space ...
June 21 Rainy Season electronica sketch 梅雨

I'm not actually sure if the rainy season has officially started in Tokyo... feels like it though! I'm thinking this may have influenced how today's jam turned out. I've been paying with Messor and incorporating a bit of side-chain compression in the jam again. This time, sidechaining the kick and bass, as well as sidechaining the reverb on some of the drums with the main melody. The bass is fr...

I just got hold of a Messor (from Cosmotronic), which is my first compression module. For my first jam, I thought I should start with something classic - i.e. sidechaining the kick, bass and some of the pads. I wanted to use a 4/4 beat for this as I thought it'd be easier to learn what Messor is actually doing. The kick and other drum sounds are samples on Squid. The chords are from cizzle, goi...
June 10 dub

I've been enjoying getting lost in dubby sounds lately! In this jam, I use Helocene's Non-Linear Memory Machine to add a little crackle and glitch to some chords from CIZZLE (which are going through Three Sisters and then getting reverbed and delayed by Mimeophon). Bass comes from Akemie's Castle and the drum sounds from Squid Salmple and Akemie's Taiko. Other FX are from Clouds, Data Bender an...

Had a pretty low key jam today - I wasn't really sure where I'd end up when I turned the modules on, but it all started by recording little loops of melodies in Morphagene using the sound-on-sound function and then playing these layered loops back with a bit of cv to glitch them up a little. I added some more sounds from Twin Peak Resonator and some filtered white noise. The drums are from Akem...
Really nice. Kudos.
Thanks so much! :)
2:48 fell right into the groove ❤ perfect architecture 😮 🔥 YES
aaaah thank you so much :)
Hello Yassokiiba 🙂 This was so catchy and dreams, really liked it! Thanks! 🙂 Let us stay connected, Tubster
Thank you - so glad you liked it 😊
Such a beautiful atmosphere, I always get whisked off to another world of ethereal, timeless melodies while listening to your music...
Thanks so much, Baptiste! Very very happy to hear that :)
further on to eschaton
Yasso! This slow pace is very relaxing! Kick as usual crazy and always present!
Thanks Maurizio! (haha! Yes, the kick is always there)
Very relaxing and an interesting beat. 😄👍
Thank you so much! :) Glad you found the beat interesting 🙂
These machines are amazing I have been blessed to do shows with modular artists on the Bill very huge sounds. This is wonderful soothing head space music..
Diamond !!!! . (I'm in love with those beats.) . Thank You.
Thanks so much!!! So happy you like those beats 😊
@@yassokiiba You are very welcome...
Very emotional and playful, you can lose yourself in it :) well done
Thank you, Milan! Glad you lost yourself in this. I had a nice time jamming it out 😊
Super Chill jam 👍 the melody is very soothing and would fit nicely as a film score or theme. The drums give such a good contrast in their complexity yet they are still subdued enough to keep this piece very laid back and calming....ill have to give another listen this evening when i can really let myself drift off to this. 👍
Thanks so much, man! Always appreciate your comments on here so much. Glad you liked the subdued feel to the beats. There was a moment when I was building the patch where I almost took it down a more lively, hectic path - but then I got lost in this more subdued textural approach. Wasn't sure if that would work for others (I thought it might lack a hook to keep it interesting?) so really happy this aspect appealed to you :)
reopening of dreamworld again!
Thanks for listening :)
I enjoyed listening to this lovely pastoral relaxing jam.
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I love these types of jams! More of an electronica fan. Have it on in the background while I work. Do you get your inspiration from anywhere? I'd love to listen to more of this style.
Thanks so much, Gavin. Really happy to hear that :) Guess the influences for this sort of jam are things like the City Centre Offices label releases - stuff like Arovane and Remote Viewer - as well as some of Autechre's more chilled moments.
@@yassokiiba Thanks so much! Will check them out 🙏🏻
@@GavinVickery No problem :) Hope you like them.. loads of great releases on that label
delayed loops🙂
Lovely patch and sounds 😊
Thank you!!!
Such awesome sounds, especially the kick! So full of richness and texture
So happy to hear that - thank you 🙂
wow stunning... new subscriber now :) any chance of a modular grid link to your setups ? thank you
Thank you so much :) Really happy you like the jam! I do have modulargrid... I've recently rearranged things but it's still mostly accurate. There are three cases in total: modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2389374 modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2389399 modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2486427
A very nice, straightforward jam, with a very subtle buildup in tension throughout! (jammed to this a couple of days ago during a night session! :P)
Hi Baptiste! Yeah, kept this one quite simple in the end... glad it was something you could jam to :)
Nice one 👌 love the pitch shifts on the chords, gives a very cinematic feel to this piece. That kick drum is so solid. Great stuff
Thanks so much!!! :)
can you maybe tell me a bit about your sequencing methods? like what are you using and how are you bringing structure to your tracks? i really struggle with that aspect in eurorack and you're super good at it. i realize it's an open ended question but any tips would be welcome, thanks! amazing track btw
Hi!!! Thanks so much for listening and commenting.. Really appreciate that so much :) I hadn't listened to this in a while, and listening back I want to try something like this again. I remember this was a lot of fun. I don't know if you have Pam's, but it was probably mostly done with that. From memory (it was a while ago), the kick was a done with two channels of Pam's. One was a regular 4/4 beat, and I used the Logic feature to combine it with another channel, which I think I set to /4 and then played with the phase until I had a nice bouncy kick. (Important to reduce the width of each channel to as low as 1% to make sure you can get kicks places closely together. Watching the video back, you can see that channel 2 of Pam's (the module in the top left of the rack at the back of the video) is hitting once a bar (adjusted with the phase setting) and the hat is the first channel on this Pam's (you can see the light flashing in time). So I think I was basically playing with loop and phase settings on Pam's, with a little help from 2HP Slice.
@@yassokiiba really helpful explanation, thanks for the effort. i only really started using the logic functions on Pam's earlier this week. you've made me realize i don't actually use Pam's for sequencing drums that much, and i should really start. thanks again, glad i found this channel. suddenly i'm interested in a bunch of ALM modules, like the Cizzle, Akemie's Taiko, and Castle. you really make them sound good.
@@solongyouth Ah, thanks so much! Yeah the logic functions are great. Nice to play around with different logic functions, and vary things like the the clock setting on different channels (like having one channel set to 4x and another to 1.5x). Also playing around with the width and phase settings on the gates, too. Can sometimes give interesting results.
Jan Jelinek vibes, love it
Aaaah thanks so much! I'm absolutely going to try this sort of jam again soon... love Jan Jelinek so much.
Yasso! This kick is really powerful! The whole evolution is beautiful!
Thanks so much, Maurizio!
I'm melting into the funk❤😊
haha!!! Thank you :)
yeah very ambient and dreamy jam, that cizzle sounds great. I love your way of using space and silence to let every single sound resonate.
Thanks so much, Bertrand! Your pretty good at that yourself ;)
@@yassokiiba well, i surely get better at that by listening to your jams ! 😋
@@bertrandvanasch aaah thanks man! I learn a lot from you, too.
magical
That's so nice to hear! Thank you!
Really cool sound design for the subtle glitches. I’m inspired to do something down tempo too. ❤
Thank you so much! Interested to hear your down tempo jam :)
super heavy heady track.. love the dark vibe of the mix, cool transpositions
Thank you!!!!
Always stoked when a Yasso beat drops
Soooo happy to hear that :)
Cool beat and glitchy groove.
Thank you :)
A little more melancholy than usual, but beautiful :) I like it very much
Thank you, Milan... went for the minor key this time ;)
@@yassokiiba I heard that, very nice
Nice! Where are the drums coming from in this one?
Hi!!! I missed this comment - sorry Most of the drum sounds here are from the UTTU USB drive for Squid Salmple. Akemie's Taiko, too.
Great beat mate, whats the screen on the wall , not seen one before
Thanks so much! That's just my mirror on the wall. Turned it backwards and used it as a kind of green screen
great stuff, glad i found this channel

What a gorgeous way to start, and that beat was completely unexpected. Wonderful!
I thought I'd replied to this comment, but thanks so much! I do like unexpected beats ;)
The small percussive sticks falling and bouncing mixed with the harmonic chord stabs is quite lovely❤
Such a lovely description - thank you 😊
superb session! (added it to my top secret drum practice playlist, so I might play along to it later tonight on my electronic drum kit!)
