- I've included more shots of the modules in this video, as well as some shots from the window of my room - to give a little more context.
This was another jam where I was playing around with compression and sidechaining. I sidechained three parts of the mix:
1. The kick is sidechained to the bass. So, when there is a kick the bass dips in volume - which should give the kicks a little more space in the mix.
2. A copy of the dry chords (without any fx processing) is sidechained to the reverbed/delayed chords. So the reverb/delay is ducking out the way when the dry chords play - hopefully to give a little more clarity to those chords and stop the mix being too muddy, while also keeping all the reverb in the space between the chords.
3. The occasional reverb you hear on some of the drum sounds (e.g. at around the 5 minute mark) is sidechained against other drum sounds, like the hats. This means that, when there is a swell of reverb, those other drum sounds dip in volume.
a solemn spacious mix.
Thank you for listening, Roger :)
Amazing beat💨 beautifully done 👏🌛🎼🌜💨💨
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful, very soft waves of well-being. Love it
Thank you, Milan - that means a lot :)
Very nice! Love these dubby vibes.....its blazing hot where I am today after a month of near steady rain....this just fits so nicely. I dig the various shots and angles too ,the sky shots are also very nice. Great stuff.....so glad you uploaded this. 👍 🍻
Thanks so much for always stopping by! Glad to hear you've got some dry weather over there now, too :)
Very beautiful frequencies my friend, I love your originality! 💯💯❤❤🎭🎭#20👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous dubby mix. Love it 💛💛 Love looking around the modules too...
So happy to hear that you liked the video, Jugs! :)
Some more glimpses of Tokyo's atmosphere, how lovely! :D incredible jam, as always, with a quiet, night-time feel..I can imagine myself strolling down those streets at night, listening to this as I walk...
Thanks, Baptiste!!! :) We're actually out in a suburban part of Tokyo here, and the night view is less dramatic neon than the city centre (I used to live very central, but it's better for the kids out near the parks here). I'll have to try and get some shots of some of my favourite city centre streets next time I get a night off :)
niiiice!
Thank you!!!! 🙏
amazing dub, makes me feel like i am high on acid so it seems to be a good one.
haha!!! Thanks so much :) Glad you got that feeling out of it
I'm really vibing with this
Thanks so much 🙏 so happy to hear you liked it 😊
That's such a smooth groove. I also really enjoyed looking at your gear, most of which I'm unfamiliar with but with which I find fascinating. It's also nice seeing the process, watching you create. In the 1980s, I took a basic course in electronic music. We worked with a Moog synth. I remember all the patch cords and experimentation. You must do a lot of experimenting to get the right sounds and create new ones. Much respect!
Thank you so much. Yeah, it's so much fun plugging in cables and seeing what sounds come out. Endless possibilities!!! :)
Great Yasso! I really like the details you show in this video, the video is very dynamic, and the music is interesting! Even the views out the window!
Thanks you, Maurizio! 🙏 Really glad you liked the video - not a patch on your amazing productions, though :)
Cool track yassokiiba!
Thanks so much!!! :)
I listened to this previously and just got sucked into the stream, great stuff.
Thanks so much!!! :)
really insanely soothing kind of melodic:-)
Thank you so much, Robert! So happy to hear that!
How do you like the vector space? It seems like a great modulation box.
Oh I love it! It's one of my most used modules. It works really well with feedback too (like, patching one of the things you're using it to modulate back into it)
@@yassokiiba word, i've been looking at it for a while, it's quite big though and i don't have space atm. i feel like that with a maths or wobblebug is god tier modulation. ty again for this track too, i've been coming back to it everyday, please release this if you can it's amazing.
@@PSILOCYBINISTHEWAY Thank you so so so much for the encouraging comment! You've genuinely made my day :) I am actually planning on starting work on a track in this style next week - hopefully with the aim of releasing it on Bandcamp. Fingers crossed I can come up with something worth sharing!
But, yeah, Vector Space is amazing. As its most very basic, I treat it like a CV expander (e.g. using it to expand the possibilities of lfos from Batumi, Pam's, or Ochd. But it's so much more than that. It can even mix audio signals. And with all those ouputs, you can be really creative. One nice thing is to send lfos to the inputs, then send some of the outputs to a switch and use that to create a melody.
when your good at plugging wires into things but bad at making music
just a hobby, mate - no need for that
@@yassokiiba Don't stress, I think that dude just doesn't know how to count a beat; this grooves in all the right places, but for some folks a locked 4×4 with a short guitar loop is all the complexity they need!
¯\(ツ)/¯ C'est la Vie - this little jam was massive, gloomy & lush as hell. You clearly know your way around a patch! 🪢
@@goonfish Thank you so much for the kind reply and lovely comments about the jam - it really means a lot 😊 I guess this sort of music isn't for everyone, but it's nice when you can connect with someone in a positive way!
@@yassokiiba well, noone ever blames the majority for having _TOO creative _ of tastes lol - bah humbug! 🫸🪢🫷
@@goonfish Haha!! True there!
