Does It Game?!

Look, global e-waste is an enormous problem that doesn't need to be. Countless other channels have dedicated at least some of their time to showing that "junk" and "obsolete" hardware is anything but; here, that's all we do!
Dedicated to the eternal question -- "but...does it game?!"

$100 To A High End Gaming PC | Still Flipping! Now With Failures!
The long overdue Part 2 of trying to upcycle e-waste and flip my way to some enormous upgrades for myself, using only $100 out of pocket! There were some (small) hiccups along the way, and but we're finally here!
And before someone tries to "uMm AcKshUaLly" me: yes, I know the 1270 is the actual i7 analogue; the 1240s are almost always the real value play, with clock speeds that tend to be 95% of the i7 for like 20-50% of the price. There are plenty of 1270s that are still muuuuuch cheaper than the equivalent i7, and the overall point remains.

Overclocking Xeons on the Dell Precision T3610!
Will it work with Ryzen 5 5500 and MSI B450M Pro Max?
MSI B450M should be absolutely fine, I confirmed it working on one when I had a chance. R5 5500 I can’t say for sure, though I never had an issue with other 5000-series Ryzens.
"750 Tai" Lol. (Great video btw)
“Ti is short for ‘titanium’” for life! If I ever join the tEe-EyE gang I’m going all in and referring to Super variants as S-U-P-E-R 🤣 And thank you! As much of a slog as it is to produce these things - I’m terrible with a camera and worse with Resolve lol - it really does mean a lot to see positive feedback!
What's better for Fortnite E5-1650v3 or e5-2680v3?
@@Ramble1234 Almost definitely 1650 v3, even if you use multicore enhancement on the 2680 v3. The minimum all-core turbo speed on the 1650 v3 is 200MHz higher than the fastest possible all-core turbo on the 2680 v3, and even DX12 Fortnite doesn’t really scale much beyond 6 cores.
I’ve used the 1650 v3 vs the 2640 v3, 2650 v3 and 2660 v3; the 1650 is the better chip.
This is sick. I just copped one on eBay for $150 and plan on using it for a pc flip!
Is the 1650v3 overclockable with an air cooler? How much will i be able to oc? Up to 4.2 ghz for gaming?
@@Ramble1234 It is! Depends on the air cooler and how much you like ramping the fans. 4.2 shouldn’t be any issue with even a midrange cooler; I got a (less efficient) 1650v2 to 4.2 all-core on a Dell Precision factory cooler lol
@@doesitgame sickk. That is some high frequency for such an old CPU. I looked up benchmarks on cpu-z, and apparently it has similar single core performance to an i5-10400? Probably more with an OC. Idk how true this is, but that's insane.
the us market is paradise vs uk
You should see some of the deals in the next installment of my flipping up videos 🤣
this is a decent video, only complaint i would have, is the quality being 720p
Totally fair! I do it for a reason, though, for what it’s worth. I actually shoot everything in a mix of 4K and 1080p60/75/90, but choose to oversample down to 720p for both digital noise reduction (since it’s averaging pixels) and bandwidth considerations. This channel did start initially with an environmental bent - and focus on upcycling e-waste - and the bandwidth of 720p vs 1080p/4K does have a meaningful impact on electricity consumption. In 2022 internet traffic alone accounted for over 800TWh of global electricity usage, and in light of that I want my content to have as small a footprint as possible while still being in HD, if not FHD. …and my watch analytics show that like 73% of my views are on mobile devices anyway lol
@@doesitgame I don't think i've ever heard of that tbf. But yeah, you do you.
Most people have little reason to ever think about the electricity used, and carbon output with, their video streaming - and even big names like Linus have only casually mentioned it offhand in like WAN Show moments - so I’m definitely in the tiniest of minorities for doing it this way deliberately.
@@doesitgame honestly, i'm one of the realistically driven people. I believe that even if i reduce my lifestyle to have the littlest of impact on the world and the carbon footprint and such. It will look like nothing has changes. I'm but a peon
I got that motherboard for $20 lol
Ugh, rub it in! That’s a steal!
This was hilarious, as a Brit I appreciate you taking the piss out of us!
This channel is so underrated man! I don't usually get entertained watching flipping videos but this kept me watching till the end!!! Wish you all the best man🎉 earn a sub
Thank you!
You speak my language :) I actually rocked a twin fan missing a fan for a little while. I just ramped up the base speed and it was fine. BTW “fail a little bit” would be a cool channel name 😂😂😂
Great video mate, I’ll share this on my channel discord for you ❤
Thank you!
@doesitgame How did your kit hold up after 6 months?
New to the Channel. I love the production quality! Got you a Sub.
Thank you twice over! This was all shot on my trusty Nikon D3300, but I’ve recently upgraded and will hopefully continue to improve both my technique and finished quality 😁
I have i7 7700 soldered nonK 4.2 ghz 4ghz all cores ddr 3600 mhz Oc to 3988mhz, I wanna improve my gaming experiencies,U think a xeon will be a good idea vs ryzen 5600x? or vs 5700g?
Sadly, no. The Ryzen 5000 series pretty well walks all over these Broadwell chips.
In Dell T5810 not working i downgrade bios to A02 and dont have any avialable setings to change in XTU. In Bios A34 when i sleep machine and turn on i can change voltage in TS. Before this procedure procesor sruck on 3,5 ghz and dont turboo boost, in xtu i have EDP limit throtling:( Dell is suck On my old HP Z620 i can change mutiplers and i OC xeon 1650v2 to 4,2ghz
Somewhere around A18 Dell included an irreversible change to the Intel Management Engine that disables all meaningful XTU functionality on the Precisions. The change was done as part of mitigating the Plundervolt exploit, which honestly made sense to address for their enterprise customers. It just sucks for us on the secondhand market these days for performance tuning.
its a pity that i dont known abouth this before when i bought this station :(
@@kamilpluta1683 All is not (totally) lost! Check out Miyconst on RUclips! He has a video on flashing a BIOS to the T5810 that enables multicore enhancement (the famous “all core turbo hack”), which makes chips like the 1650v3 and 1660v3 absolutely fly on those machines.
@@doesitgame thanks for you help i check this
Hows it working thinking to. Use it with ryzen 5 5600 with b550m
good vid mate. I'll keep notes on these :)
Thank you! I should’ve highlighted that these aren’t only things I make use of; Bryan over at Tech Yes City has praised GD900 thermal paste, lives off his PSU tester, and swears by multipurpose cleaner!
I just bought a dual cpu x99 xeons E5-2680 v4 for Proxmox a few days ago. That's great for homeserver.
There isn’t much you cannot do with dual 2680 v4s in a home server! Our media/file server is still using dual X5670s lol
I gotta figure out the process of how the nvme risers work. I heard they don't run at actual NVME speeds when used that way. And that gross mouse makes an appearance again!!!
The low speed ones might be x1 risers; these x4 risers have never had a problem hitting >2500MB/s on PCIe 3.0 drives rated for it. I couldn’t resist reusing the grungy mouse! Especially since I was featuring the cleaner that powered through that…whatever that was 🤣
I will keep the 4x riser in mind. This video is a must-have tool for beginner flippers like myself.
Is 70% enough for the iso? Isn't the rest just water?
The rest is water. I use 70% instead of 91% because it tends to, in my experience, lift and clean grime a bit better. It also actually disinfects better than 91% if you ever need to use it as an antiseptic lol Just takes marginally longer to dry than 91% owing to the (obviously) lower volatility.
@@doesitgame But you use it on PCBs and everything? Do you have any recommendations of like ESD-safe fabric or brushes for PCBs/motherboards and such? Good video btw! :) I just got a great deal on 20 PCs from the haswell era that I'm intending to flip. Been building and tinker with computers for like 25 years but never done any deep cleaning of parts except swapping thermal paste or used compressed air or air compressors to clean dust. Never flipped PCs either so I'm a bit new to this still. :)
I sure do! PCBs, heat spreaders, cold plates, even bare silicon dies. I just wait a few extra minutes to make sure it’s all vapored off. I just use a nylon bristle brush from Harbor Freight when I really need to scrub PCBs. For the most part, though, just adjusting the spray nozzle to a solid stream does an adequate job blasting crud off of PCBs.
And thank you!
Hi dell precision t3600 with xeon e5 1650 is overcloxk able without this method?
No, unfortunately. The T3600 always behaved weird with even the unlocked Xeons. XTU didn’t work, while ThrottleStop occasionally did on some machines but only up to like 4.4GHz.
@@doesitgame there is no any way to oc xeon e5 1650 on dell precision t3600 ?
@itsvenom559 Supposedly you can use XTU to modify the maximum clocks, *then* open ThrottleStop and use it to force the clocks to that limit, but I have never tried and don’t have a T3600 to try with at the moment.
Great video. New subscriber now. My only question is what the hell was on the mouse? What kind of hand grease leaves that goo behind?
I *really* don’t want to know 😬
if I were gonna buy one, I would memtest86 it before usage...
Question... Is this CPU performing better than a E5-2696 ? I cant seem to find any comparisons
Which version of the E5-2696? There’s a v2 (Ivy Bridge) and a v3 (Haswell) AFAIK, and they’re very different CPUs. Depends on the specific workload. The 7820X will handily beat the 2696 v2 in anything. For the vast majority of workloads it will also beat the 2696 v3, unless your specific use case is capable of loading all 18 cores of the Xeon.
yeah no this video card sucks, it wont stop crashing my pc
After it “crashes” does Adrenaline say that there are no compatible video cards found, or something like that? If that’s the case it’s Windows and is a suuuuuper easy fix.
@@doesitgame no usually it just says it crashes and tries to make me file a crash report
I can’t say I ever had that happen. What drivers, specifically? If you’re using the 24.3.1 drivers, try the Pro drivers instead (23.Q4 or whatever?). Two other things to try: In your system settings, disable Windows autodetecting and installing drivers. That fixes 95% of issues with Radeon cards. The other is to install the atikmdag patch. Fixes most other AMD crash issues.
@@doesitgame I’m on 24.Q1, and when I get raindbow six seige it says the drivers need updating or not supported, but they are up to date
@@Sneezr That error I did experience. Okay, then DDU and try 24.3.1 for Polaris/Vega. *Then* go into your system settings and disable auto installing drivers.
Congratulations on the channel, can you help me with a question? I'm writing from Brazil, I'm thinking about purchasing an amd pro 4gb wx3200, will it be a good choice? my computer is a Ryzen 5 5600GT 1T of storage with 32 Gb of ram. thank you for your attention
A WX3200 is a pretty big step up from the iGPU on the 5600G. If you can get one inexpensive enough, go for it!
still rocking 6900k and 1070ti good enough for 1080p gaming
Never said it wasn’t. Whether or not it’s still competent, or was worth buying years ago, wasn’t ever the point of this - or the preceding - video.
This channel is criminally underviewed
Thanks for the kind words! It makes the grind to get these out (around my work schedule) feel much less like a grind 😁
Do you know if the bios that comes with it is really from the 6700xt??
It is. It’s just a regular MSI Mech with some stickers covering the MSI stickers.
Hi. Good video. I currently have this ram installed and im unable to enable XMP in the bios. Is this because im using this budget ram? Ive just ordered different ram but im not even sure if that will fix my problem. Thanks im advance
In what system? A workstation/office PC, or a retail board? It shouldn’t need an XMP profile, its base profile is 3200.
Where can i find what xeons are compatible with specific hp PC's? I have a 6200 and 8200 sff laying around and these would be great if they had 4 cores 8 threads
I’m not sure there’s actually a generic list of which Xeons work with them, especially because the 6200/8200 had a more limited chipset IIRC. I just had a hunch that paid off. The 6200/8200 can *probably* run something like the Sandy Bridge E3-1270 (it cannot have a ‘v’ number after it), which is spectacularly cheap and maybe worth a gamble. There are probably even cheaper ones, though the lower down the stack you go the lower the clock speeds. In general, a lot of the older HP, Dell, and Lenovo office PCs can run the equivalent Xeon for their generation; Intel were basically just repackaging the Core line as Xeons of different bin levels, and the OEMs didn’t bother to cut the functionality from the BIOS because they assumed nobody would be tinkering with them until well after official support ended anyway. If you do find one of the Sandy Bridge Xeons working on yours, definitely let me know!
@@doesitgame i'll definitely give it a shot. Did see something about the e3-1270 on a benchmark website. New sub, keep up the great work!
That is, SO, cool.

Thank you! I’m really trying to get better with each video I put together; Resolve has quite the learning curve, though lol And I promise, part 2 is already in the works!
This is a very informative video that properly builds memory in quad channels and compares performance.
Starfield one made me laugh 😂
34$ for a working PC with dedicated GPU and 16gb of RAM? That’s basically like winning at a casino, how did you even manage that Here in Europe that same rig would probably go for 150+ euros. For 34 euros maybe you could get a Pentium 4 lmao
Hahaha I know! I couldn’t believe my bid won, even though I placed it within the last 20 seconds; I fully expected it to explode over $100. Just dumb luck, and kind of a subpar job listing it by the seller.

I always love these flip up challenges. I must confess even more so when they go wrong.
I’m feeling pretty confident right now, but I’m already anticipating the pivot from $150-250 flips to $500-650 ones is where I’ll get hung up. Reeeeeeeally hoping to avoid that, though!
Bought a 32gb kit for $33 and been using them for 4 months now and so far I have no idea what is wrong with it. Since they're suspiciously cheap I'm expecting some sort of problem that comes along with but so far they work fine. And yes the different in FPS in this video is probably the case.
