Ru on Paper
Нидерланды
Добавлен 3 ноя 2023
Hi there! I'm Ru and I spend way too much time thinking (and talking) about planners, journalling, fountain pens, inks and stickers. Always on the quest for the perfect planner spread and new ways to use my Hobonichi & Sterling Ink planners.
🌊 Swatching Teal and Turquoise Fountain Pen Inks
In this video, I have somewhat of an existential crisis because I have no idea where blue ends and green begins. These are all inks that I think occupy that gorgeous middle ground that reminds me of the sea. Which of these is your favourite? 🌊

How My Planner Helps Me Become Who I Want to Be
Loves these videos of yours. But you are so brave swatching red ink with a white sweatshirt on 🤣
I adore teal inks and Diamine Eau de nil was my first and I still Love it today. I also love Aurora Borealis and Marine by Diamine. I'm wanting Robert Oster Tranquility.
Missing one of the best ones: Iroshizuku Tsuki Yo.
Diamine Aurora Borealis and Bliss are my two most used in this category. They're all beautiful but I dont reach for teal inks that often. Now, purple inks are my some of my favorites. I'm looking forward to that video.
Teal, a color I love. my favorite is Lamy Amazonite. It is very similar to Diamine Aurora Borealis, a little bit more blue. Dominant Industries Lake is another favorite, a little hint of violet makes it different from Diamine steel blue. The scented Herbin you mentioned makes me curious. In general I don’t like scented inks, the ones I had smelled much to strong, flat without any nuances in scent. A more complex, subtle scented ink sounds like something I can enjoy like a good shaving soap or eau de toilette.
Teals are my favorite color. These are some really god ones. Thank you.
I’m pleasantly surprised by the Schneider Bermuda! I know they are makers of school pens (at least in Germany many years ago), but I’ll have to be on the lookout for their inks now! Thank you!
I like the brighter teals - so for Sailor, I'd use 464. I think it's interesting how Sailor numbers their inks, you can always tell which color along the line of numbers you would like because of their numbering system. In your list, Lake is my favorite! But it's not as wet as I want it to be, but it's still very very good flow. Diamine marine has been on my list to try as it's right in the color shade I like. So excited for this color family, Ru! :D Thanks for sharing!
My favourite colour family! Having seen all these swatches though, my beloved Diamine Marine is still my fave!
Thanks for sharing as always! My favorite is Jacques Herbin 'Bleu Plénitude'.
YESSSSS!!! My favorite color family!
It was really fun hearing you answer all these questions. And of course to be able to put a face to the voice 🙂
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video! 😊
Always enjoy a Ru video. Congratulations for 2K subscribers! 🥰 This video is such a comfort one, you are very relatable and it's very easy to connect with all your points. I didn't know about the toe knoflook haha. I did laugh out loud when you get to the hema bradworst, knoflook, and the pindakaas part XD Thank you for the QnA!
Thank you, Fi! 😊 I'm glad you found it enjoyable and I'm glad to contribute to your Dutch vocabulary 🤣
Congrats on 2k and thanks for sharing! So true that it’s nice to have a place to geek out on stationery with like-minded folks!
Thank you so much! It really is, and I like the balance between enjoying similar things and everyone having their own ways of expressing creativity. There's so much inspiration 😊
Congratulations again on 2k! And it’s so lovely to be able to put a face to the name/voice 🥰
Thank you for your support, Ellie! 😊
You look as charming as I expected.
Thank you for the compliment! 😊
It’s a pleasure to meet you Ru! I was having the similar shock of when you watch an animated show and then see the voice actor read their lines in an interview. Lol! 😆 I resonate with many of your answers, but what really stood out to me was your desire to make and post videos on RUclips. It was really nice to relate to someone and their feelings about being online in a niche community. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on 2k! 🎉🥳🎂
I totally understand that feeling! 😆 I'm glad you liked the video and found it relatable, thank you for watching! 😊
Congrats on the 2 K you’re awesome ❤
Thank you! 😊
Ru, it’s so nice to see you! I loved this video so so much. 😍 Thank you for filming this video, and for answering my question! I’m going to have to check out that video series that you referenced! 🤩
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you for watching! @thewetpen 's videos are very calming and I love watching them while doing the dishes or folding laundry 😊makes time fly!
Ru, Congratulations on hitting 2k!! Your videos have been such a joy to watch and get inspiration from. This video felt like a lovely chat, so nice to meet you and hear your thoughtful responses to the questions 🎉🍀
I'm really glad to hear that, and thank you! 😊
I started following you recently and I think you should definitely talk to the RUclipsr called Whatttupv, she also loves cooking and learning languages and her channel is about stationery. She is one of my favorite RUclipsrs! Loved learning more about you!!!
She messaged me on instagram thanks to your comment, which is really nice! I've been watching her videos for ages, I love her content 😊 Thank you for watching!
You are adorable in a grown man way!
Thank you for the compliment! 😊
Nice to see you. I enjoy your content. Congrats!🌺
Thank you! 😊
congrats on 2k!!! so nice to meet you :)
Thank you, Bucky! 😊
Ru! It's nice to see you! I just want to say I've really enjoyed your videos so thanks for sharing 🥰
Thank you for your support! 😊
Ru! It was an absolute pleasure to see you, to hang out and it feels like we had a chat! Thank you for being so open on a very personal level, I’m not certain if I’ll ever have the courage… no I’ll go find you on IG! Enjoy the weekend! ☀️🌼🖋️🥰Dag
I'm glad it felt that way, thank you! 😊
Well done ! 🎉
Thank you! 😊
Boy oh boy, do I relate to collecting and then not using. 😆😵💫 Just in the last few years I’ve been able to get out of that mindset and just use the things I love! So frustrating when your brain insists that if something is special, you have to save it. 🫣🤪
Even now I'm sometimes like: "is this a now-sticker or a save-for-2025-sticker?" Come on, we have half the year left 🤣 But I'm glad to hear you've been able to get out of that mindset, that gives me hope for the future as well! 😊
Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself. When I first started planning I went a bit crazy buying all the things. I think I’m better now but occasionally get the itch to buy new planners even if I don’t need them. It is a bit of Fomo.
Thank you for watching! And that is definitely relatable 😅 I think it helps when we gradually learn more about the things we enjoy, the things that work or don't work etc. Sometimes I see something new and exciting but I just immediately know that it wouldn't work for me.
How is this a face reveal when your profile picture was already photorealistic? I'm glad we managed not to fall down from our stack of books and board games, that was tense. I love that your motivations for starting this channel were to feel understood and connect with others who share your passion. It shows in your videos. And definitely can relate to having a partner with the "Yeah. Yeah, cool. 👍" reaction to stationery rambles. Thank you for being such a good sport, I can't believe you actually answered the knoflook pindakaas rookworst questions. Sorry, it has to be HEMA and it has to be hot. I'm in Australia and foresee no issues with this request. Thanks!
Thank you for your comment! The profile picture was meant to be a placeholder for the first month or so, but now I've grown quite fond of it 🤣 Maybe I could post a rookworst when it's summer in Australia, those temperatures should make sure it gets delivered while hot 😅
So lovely to see your face again! You were very natural in front of the camera. Loved hearing the answers to all the questions. Congrats on the big milestone!
I'm glad it came across as natural! It definitely helped that it wasn't "live" and that if it was too awkward no one would have to see it.
Enjoyed watching, I had several “that’s me or I feel the same.” Moments. (If you enjoy it, it’s not a waste of time.)
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you found it relatable 😊
Congratulations on the milestone, Ru!! It is so lovely to put a face to the voice. You are so adorable!! I always look forward to your videos and I agree with so many of the sentiments and thoughts you've expressed here. You definitely help one feel welcome in this planner/stationery community! It is so nice to find others who have the same stationery ruminations as me! Thank you for all that you do! (Also, I'd love to see video gaming content!! Journalling along while watching a play through sounds amazing :D)
Thank you so much for your support! I'm glad to hear you found the video relatable. And you saying that I help people feel welcome really made my day 💛
I loved watching this 😊 Thank you so much for sharing and answering all our questions!! So glad you have shared your part of this community with us 💖 Excited to see what you create in the future!!
Thank you for your kind words! Your videos have been a big source of inspiration for me 😊
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you! 😊
Hello!!!!! =D I agree. It's nice to place a face to the voice.
Thank you! 😊
Ru! Nice to put a face to the name. Love your channel man.
Thanks so much! 😄
Lovely to meet you, Ru! Thank you for all the videos you make. Here’s to 10k!
Thank you for your support! 😊
such a lovely assortment of colors. i haven’t tried a single one of your top five. pilot iroshizuku is definitely my favorite ink brand with take-sumi being my favorite. having a black ink as my favorite surprised me like you were surprised by some of your favorites. enjoy your journey for the next six months! 😊
Thank you! I think that's the fun part about trying things out, you never quite know what inks might be a delightful surprise. I have a sample of Take-sumi in my drawer, and am now very curious to try it! 😊
I love it when you say J. Herbin like a proper French man. 😅 I've been into brown inks, but orange inks have piqued my interest as of late. Thanks for showing the orange one from JH...might need to pick that one up. Curious if you've tried the Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake. That was the orange ink that made me want to delve into this color after all the browns I've collected.
Hahaha, that made my day! I have tried Yu-yake and I love it (but couldn't pick it because I didn't use it in the first six months of the year). Another orange I've found intriguing is Robert Oster Tangerine. Unsaturated with nice shading. But I know not everyone is into unsaturated inks. Do you have a favourite brown ink? I know for sure I will be into brown inks again once autumn comes around!
@@ruonpaper My fave is the Montblanc Toffee Brown. It's a rather wet ink but the flow is incredible in a TWSBI Eco! I will definitely look into Robert Oster in the color you mentioned. Thanks! I hope you do a feature on several J. Herbin's simply because I can listen to you say that name all day in that accent. 😂
oh wow yea, Higurashi is so pretty!
I have a tiny bottle that Orange Indien and have not even tried it! Must get to it. Still want a bottle of Three Kings.
I can no longer count the amount of times I've seen someone rave about a beautiful ink and thinking "Oh, I've had a sample of that for ages, why have I not inked this up??" 😅
Uhhh i wish i could get my hands on that green ink! It is lovely
I would love for all the inks in that series to be more widely available. Maybe one day 🤞🏻
these are such lovely inks! thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them! 😊
I've realised that i work best on a monthly set up. I track my work shifts and appointments. These are some fun things to try!
Same for me! I like the overview a monthly calendar gives me. Glad you liked the video 😊
Hello. I really struggled to see the inks most of the time on this video as it was quite zoomed out. It was great when you zoomed in but otherwise the writing is too small (i wear specks) and the ink too dense to really catch the hue. Sorry to be such a whiner but I would have found this immensely useful if it had been closer. Great selection though
No need to apologise at all! This is definitely valuable feedback. I will probably finish the rest of the series in the same way (as most of the recordings are already done), but I have some ideas for more in-depth, zoomed-in ink explorations/comparisons for the future. Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you liked the selection of inks.
Thanks for taking my comments on board. I’m glad they landed in the right way. I can tell you put a lot a lot into your work 😊. I’ll keep the magnifying glass out for the time being 🧐😂. All the best
Lovely choices, I'm not really into orange but I really like the look of that Orange Indien. Greys are always my favourite so Kiri-Same is lovely. That green is gorgeous.
I'm quite particular about orange inks but this one hit the spot! And yay for grey inks!! 🖤
Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you for watching! 😊
I think it’s great that you’re thinking about what has worked and what has not to make a considered choice for next year. The Take a Note is so simple that I think you could easily replicate its layout in any of the a5 books that you currently own (to save you from buying/shipping). Even though I have no plans to switch anything- I’d like to see more videos on the Papertess planner. Just to look😂
I used a TAN A5 as a work planner for 2 years; it was the perfect planner for my old job! I do kind of miss it. I’m currently using a B6 Sterling Ink Common Planner as my journal, this is my second year using it for this purpose; I love the structure of the weekly pages and the freedom of the blank pages at the back. I can journal as little or as much as I want without having to restrict myself to a certain amount of pages. For me, this flexibility has been amazing! Enjoy your new TAN!
Thank you! I can totally understand how the flexibility of the blank pages in the back of the common planner is a winner for you. I feel like I need the soft 'push' of dated dailies, but a set amount of space for each day can definitely be a downside of that.
@@ruonpaper I completely understand and relate to your point too! I realized I can’t use undated planners because I just end up neglecting them. But the weeklies from of the CP are just enough to keep me in check. 🤭😅 I do hope you find a planner that works for you!
