      Thanks for watching and commenting👍Yes, we sell these, primarely in Norway. The problem with a transparent box is that if light hit the nutrient solution, algea will grow and the water will turn green.

    Great inspiration as always :-) . One question: the reason why you removed the old plants was only because they were ready to be harvested? Or do the new plants have other light and nutrition requirements than for example the spinach? Do strawberries need a higher amount of light in terms of watt and if yes, how many watt is required at the minimum? Does the Sf600 fit for growing small cherry tomato plants or would i need a more powerful light? Hope I don´t bother you with questions. Just seeking for orientation as a beginner 🙂

    • @innehagen4248
      @innehagen4248 20 дней назад

      Hi, yes we harvested and ate the old plants. But you are also right that the new plants need other light than the old ones. Spinach, herbs and leafy greens do well with cold white light (6500K) but plants that flower need more of the red parts of the spectrum ( we changed light before the strawberries were big enough to flower). Usually a mix of cold white around 6000K, warm white around 3500K and some extra red (660nm) is good for plants that flower. Yes, strawberries and all plants that flower does need more light than lettuce and herbs. The Light we used (SF 600) has a good full spectrum, but for strawberries we would recommend only 1 row for 1 light. Having 1 light between 2 rows like we do in the movie is a bit too little. If you want to try micro bush tomatoes we think 1 (or 2) plants in the middle of the SF 600 would work (edges will not get enough light), but we would rather recommend for example Migro Aray 2 for micro bush tomato and Migro Aray 3 for larger tomato plant. Like we use in this video: ruclips.net/video/IMey6hbl4eE/видео.htmlfeature=shared For nutrients we actually use the same for both herbs and flowers/strawberries, but you are right that herbs, lettuce and leafy greens can use a more "basic" type of nutrients. In our case we use Calcinit and Kristalon Indigo from Yara for everything from lettuce to tomatoes, but for tomatoes we use a stronger solution :) This might not be optimal, but in our experience it works great and makes caring for different plants a lot easier. Best of luck to you, starting with hydroponics!

      @@innehagen4248 thanks for your comprehensive reply! :-) Now that I have a certain understanding, the light is the largest miracle to me 🙂 I was surprised that your strawberries are fruiting with the 75W SF600. So I thought when strawberries make it under that light, maybe even dwarf tomatoes? In the grow hhops the lights are often depicted together with tomatoes. That makes it quite hard to figure out if they are really sufficient for such plants or not. I understood now that SF600 might work but to get sure some more power could be needed. I think I will go on with a SF600 or SFGlow80 in combination with Kratky. I could live without the tomatoes but I want the berries :-) If it turns out to be too few I can get a better light and use the SFGlow80 for the NFT channels later. That sounds like a plan. Thanks for your honest and fast reply. Your channel helped me a lot so far!! 🙂

    • @innehagen4248
      @innehagen4248 17 дней назад

      Yes, the SF600 is enough for strawberries if placed directly above, and pretty close. We are making a new video with focus on growing strawberries indoors. We planted strawberries in all 10 holes in the NFT. These are a remounting strawberry variety so they flower over and over again. One of the most important things we learnt is that you need to place a humidifier (modern one based on ultrasound with cold damp) so that the damp fall on or close to the plants. The humidifier should be on about 4 hours every night. This increases the local humidity around the plants without needing to have a humid room. The strawberries must have periods of about 80% humidity every 24h period. Good luck!

      @@innehagen4248 many thanks. Will take a while 😂 how do you make sure to have appropriate nutrients in the system? Do you frequently check for it and add more water or nutrients if the level is too high/low? Do all the plants need the same. This is a little confusing for me and hard too find informations about

    • @innehagen4248
      @innehagen4248 Месяц назад

      We usually start with a balanced hydroponic nutrient solution and monitor the water's pH and nutrient levels regularly. We adjust by adding more water or nutrients. If the pH is too high or too low, we use pH minus or pH plus solutions to bring it to the ideal range, usually around 5.5 to 6.5 for most plants. It's true that different plants can have slightly different nutrient needs,and seedlings needs a weaker nutrient solution than grown up and flowering plants. In some of our other videoes you can see how we mix nutrient solution and measure and adjust pH and EC for lettuce and tomatoes. If you don't have a pH and EC meter yet, one way to keep things in check is by regularly changing the nutrient solution-about every 1 to 2 weeks. This helps ensure that the pH and nutrient levels stay balanced without needing to test and adjust them constantly. It’s an effective method when you're just starting out 😃. In this article you can see tables for recommended EC and pH values for many different crops: blog.bluelab.com/ph-ec-and-temperature

    In my experience its often better to allow ph in dwc to fluctuate more, and do total water swaps than to use ph- or ph+. For some reason I have had more success doing this strategy than using ph-/+. I guess this is because the ph changes is because of the plant eating nutrients at different rates. Fixing that with ph- and + will not fix the original nutrient imbalance. Nutrient imbalances will happen in dwc faster, because the plant will take up some nutrients like N, K, Mg and P faster than others, making the solution imbalanced. Sometimes you need to let it ride through the natural ph swings. I have a target 6.0 for ph, and allow any ph between 5.5 and 6.5. The plants will tell if it needs some change. Also, if the EC drops fast, you need a stronger nutrient/EC feeding. If it spikes up as it drinks you need to lower it with a more diluted nutrient/EC. This is because it drinks more water than nutrients (EC). Ideally the EC should not change much day to day.

      Thank you for your comment. Maybe you can be as kind as to provide us with the correct name for the tool. We are not sure about the english word for it. Also you are right about using a deburring tool to cleqn up the inside. We do this in another video. In this case though the plastic melted more than "burred" so we do not think it will affect the seal. Still better to clean it up though I guess.

    Do you have feeding chart for chilli pepper plants ?

    • @innehagen4248
      @innehagen4248 9 месяцев назад

      Have you seen this video: ruclips.net/video/34H1Ejrh18E/видео.html He uses Yara Calcinit, Kristalon Red and Epsom salt. We have no experience with growing chili, only tomato and bell pepper yet, and we have never tried anything other than Kristalon Indigo, Kristalon Plus or Tripart, so it might be better to follow this guy's advice. If you look in the video description he has written how to mix it. He also wrote a kind of feeding chart. He starts with EC of 1.2 for seedlings, then increases EC with about 0.2 every week until max 2.5 mS/cm (you will need a EC and ph meter if you do not have). Looks like 2 parts Red, 2 parts Calcinit, 1 part Epsom salt until EC reach correct value for the whole growth. Remember you can not mix concentrated Kristalon with Calcinit. You have to make 2 concentrated stock solutions (A= CalciNit, B = Kristalon+ Epsom) and mix them separately into the water. Maybe you can try this? Wish you good luck growing!

    • @innehagen4248
      @innehagen4248 10 месяцев назад

      Are you using demineralised water or just tap water? Demineralised water is water completely free of dissolved minerals as a result of, distillation, deionization or membrane filtration (reverse osmosis). Old car batteries use demineralised water so your local hardware store might have it if you ask for battery water. In this movie we use "battery water". You can also just try to google demineralised water to see where you can buy it nearby. If you use normal tap water, it will have the wrong pH and your calibration liquid will be out of range for calibration. It is also important to be very accurate when you mix the powder with the water. You have to get all of the powder out of the bag. If there is just a little left in the bag the mixture will have the wrong pH. Also you must use exactly the right amount of water (250ml in our case).

      Sometimes you may not have a place to put it that is higher, for example if you have an aquarium on a table its easiest to put the pump on the table next to the aquarium. But if you have somewhere higher to put it that is the best. 😀

      Thank you very much❤️ Yes, you might be right that pH will be easier with Kratky. We might do Kratky next time👍 The plants are now enormous and we get problems with air circulation in the limited growing space, even though we planted tiny tim bush tomatoes to avoid this. Maybe with kratky the size will be better for indoor growing.😀🫑🍅🥒
