I just did white dove as a whole house color and im disappointed that it has green tint😢 i dont know what paint to get that perfect off white. We have aloy of natural light and it is winter with max cool light. If i keep this off white, will it change this summer?

I am wondering why you don't include October Mist by Benjamin Moore in your sage green colours. Can I get your opinion on this colour please. We got talked into engineered hardwood, and it looked horrible in less than a week. I had true hardwood floors for 20 years, raised six kids and many dogs over those years, and the floor held up beautifully. I’m now in the process of putting hardwood in our home again, along with porcelain tile. Never will I use engineered wood flooring again. We tried two types, high end, and they were costly disappointments.

I love the coziness and safe feeling of walls. In our kitchen remodel, rather than open up an entire wall from kitcken to living room, we decided to put an arched window in front of the sink area. I purchased a handmade wood window that opens from Turkey. This of course matches our 1990s mediterranean home. Ordering from Etsy saved us $$$ over buying from a local dealer. The window is now a beautiful addition to our home and brings in light to our previous windowless kitchen. There is still a sense of coziness and i can also be a part of conversations in the living room.

I absolutely despise the open concept homes. They are easily cluttered, and forget hosting any events.. they are so loud and feel like a noisy restaurant. Multiply that by 10 if you have kids in the home. Walls and doors are the only way to stay sane!

I've never been a fan of the accent walls. I couldn't understand the purpose when I saw them. Especially when people accented a wall that wasn't the focal point. My eye was drawn to the accent color been then It felt like a distraction from other things in the room. They stuck around longer than I thought they would.

Stop putting the kitchen sink in the center island. It’s a sink, it isn’t a showpiece. No one wants to sit at the island and get splashed or watch someone doing dishes. It’s gross. Free the island from the sink.

IMHO painted cabinets are a cheaper alternative to solid wood cabinetry with a nice wood grain and mellow tone. My guess is we’ll see a shift in a few years and painted cabinets will be “dated”. Makes no sense to renovate a kitchen every few years to keep current with the trend. Waste of money.

This efficient presentation is so helpful! Looking at light value reflection, undertone and then a photo example makes quick work to rule a color in or out. I'd like more of the same on greens moving up to saturated malachites and emerald to the summertime medium to sprightly springtime to pastels to atmospheric. Great vid.

I never follow trends and design what feels right, but I do like contrast, doesn't have to be as aggressive as black and white. If you look at my very last short, it has the kitchen I built for my folks. I went with dual color kitchen and I really love it! I have no idea if it's a trend or a past trend or a trend that will come up, but I'm loving the dual tone kitchens lately. One of my homes I did blue bottom (wood grain showing) and white washed top cabinets with very light blue undertone, it was really pleasant.

I tested nearly every off-white for my last project and was down to SW Pure White or Bohemian Lace. Ended up choosing Bohemian Lace because of the kitchen cabinets and it is very lovely! Super pleasant white also. I did satin shine on trims and flat on walls.

Black windows are WAY more expensive than white windows. That is why you find the white windows on the new build because white windows are cheaper 😂

I did color drenching in 2022 before I had heard of the term. If you include rhe ceiling, you better be a good painter! Streaks are a pain in the neck!

My white walls reflect light so much better than the pale yellow I had before. Plus, the artwork really shows off against the Alabaster white color. It feels fresh and clean. I would love burgundy kitchen cabinets with butcher block- but my husband veto'd that.

We have a white house, a white brick house with a black roof, black shutters and a dark brown wood door. I’m needing new windows and I’m struggling with going with White and white is the cheapest but the house already has the brown windows. Can you send any photos of white brick with white windows. Our house is more of a dark eclectic home, maybe a European style of furniture everywhere I don’t know what it’s called wood floors, wood furniture, darker earthy colors so I worry about these white windows.

I told my builder that I would want black windows. He advised me that they would cost an additional $35000, yes, thirty five THOUSAND extra, and they had a delivery time of up to 3 months. Needless to say, I am looking forward to my crisp, white windows frames!

Excellent video. I agree with another commenter that not all engineered wood can be refinished- even once. Please, LOUDER FOR THE BACK about coordinating undertones. It makes me CRAZY.

The more you stay with tried and true design schemes the less chance you have for outdated looking homes in the future! Same as your wardrobe the more traditional the more it will work over time.

White windows are not IN ,in our area.90% are rustic ,barn wood super popular, timbers,dak town, stone rule.Been this way for years here going on 20.High end customs.Most homes im in have 7-8' doors,9' lids very common.Our s are not open in general, but we have massive builds.I have a home office,I do not want duel purpose.I don't like black, shows dirt to easy.Antique bronze is the ruler where im at in NWMT.The island in these customs are huge.My work is in high end customs.Wood accent, or stone is costly.I install wood regularly and lids also.All jobs Im on 90% have interior decorator.Glad you realize trim work is costly. I do high end trim as part of my job.No engineered for me Im old school, installed white oak myself and maple.

We have dedicated offices in both of our houses. With more people working from home, a dedicated room for an office is a selling feature. We have an island at our cabin. It has worked out well. I highly recommend real hardwood flooring. I studied engineered hardwood flooring, before deciding what to put in our homes. The problem is trying to match engineered flooring years later, if you need to replace any of it. Refinishing engineered hardwood is more difficult than refinishing real hardwood flooring. Real hardwood flooring last over a hundred years and can be refinished multiple times. Real hardwood can easily be matched and repaired if needed. We used large format 24x24 white porcelain tiles in our bathrooms and laundry rooms. I acted as my own general contractor on our last house remodel in 2017. My neighbor hired a general contractor, for a smaller house remodel during the same period. He spent $50,000 more and got a lot less. His general contractor convinced him to spend thousands on a sewer line repair that could have been done for a fraction of the cost. Research things before agreeing to expensive changes a general contractor recommends. If you are remodeling, do a lot of research before interviewing contractors. There are a lot of incompetent contractors, who are trying to manage too many crews. You need a general contractor who will be on site every day,not once a week. Get references from several of their recent clients, before hiring anyone. Remember, the really good contractors, painters, plumbers, HVAC, and carpenters do not need to advertise and they will be booked out for months. Anyone who tells you they can start immediately is not anyone you want to hire.

Black exterior paint that has direct sunlight fades to gray. Paint exterior windows with direct sunlight white.

My issue is i find these colors for cabinets, but nobody is saying what color the surrounding walls are. As you said, it all needs to flow.

people need to avoid trends if they’re just doing it solely bc its a trend. Find your true design style and do that. Weve been building our home and i can so quickly tell what is trendy/timeless. Sometimes timeless means “itll be ok for a long time” but sometimes a current trend is like “yea ill love this in 10 years even if its out”. People just need to make their homes look beautiful to THEM because theyre the ones living in it

I have simply white on the walls in my living room and sunroom. There are a lot of windows and it looks amazing, very warm, and it never looks grey. It looks beautiful with my pure white trim and moldings.
