Why ANCHORAGE Alaska Is A Better Place To Live Than Wasilla #alaskapurchase #movingtoalaska
This video compares Anchorage and Wasilla (Mat-Su Valley) as places to live in Alaska, arguing that Anchorage offers significant advantages. The main points focus on better job prospects and higher wages in Anchorage, reduced commute times, more cultural activities and shopping options, less wind, more established parks, and better access to schools and the Kenai Peninsula. While acknowledging Wasilla’s appeal to some (e.g., less government regulation), the presenter ultimately advocates for Anchorage due to its superior amenities and convenience.

Great show guys thanks 🙏🏽 And Mold can appear anywhere Jamin it’s deadly!
I lived in FL for almost 30 years. Alaska is better in almost every way
Thank you guys I loved this one and have looked into Homer. I have questions about Organic produce 😂is it safe to say there are no organic grocery stores here? ❤️🙏🏽
How is the internet?
@@TheHotSauceReviewChannel Compared to what you get in most metro areas in lower-48, slow. But, I get everything I need it for and I upload a ton of videos, etc.
@ ah I see. I need fast internet for my remote job.
The area of the Matsu valley I live in, Meadow Lakes, is less windy than Wasilla, Palmer, and Anchorage.
Thanks for the video
❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you're coping well continuing on without his physically presents here on earth. It's been more than 10 years since both my younger brother and mother passed away. I still find myself thinking about them almost everyday. I am sorry for your loss. What an incredibly selfless man.
@@codyferguson7120 Thank you. We go to trial in a few months so it’ll all come roaring back here soon.
Ugh, I'm offended. 😂😂😂😂😊
New video idea, if you are looking for property with a great view where is the best value? Top 5 maybe
It's in the cue. Thank you!
Location, location, location. There's no shortage of crazy neighbors-from-hell in the Mat-Su. We even had one across the street in Eagle River. And there are some really nice places in Los Anchorage.
I agree with all of these things, however, anytime I have to drive to Anchorage I can’t wait to get out of there and back home to the valley lol
Off Grid Do a video series of OFF GRID
How much moeny do i need to bring to have six months of bills covered
Great commentary!
I like these trends!
I was born in Valdez and moved to Wasilla and I don’t think there’s much traffic
Turn your volume up
How far is Willow from Wasilla?
@@billwilliams1842 about an hour
Idk how the bigger cities are swinging left when Trump won the votes. Crazy
Great video, Eagle River is the sweet spot in between imo
Yes, but Palmer os better than both! :)
It seems like a lot of the properties are in the forest? Are there properties with nice views in Wasilla?
@@caryyoung4710 there are but Wasilla has a lot more lake properties and a bit further from the mountains than Palmer. So, you still see them, but they aren’t as close and there are more trees.
They are here, but usually quite expensive.
Hello, what type of visa do I need to work in Alaska
The internet ruins all nice places to live in due time...
A commute with no traffic🥰🥰🥰
Jamin is the best!! Wasilla has the best people, thrift stores, garage sales and space. Best move we've made! Thank you, Jamin!
Thank you!
The commute in the winter is no joke. Eagle River is best.
I’ve been in the Anchorage area for about 3 months after moving from Alabama to here for a job. The commute from the Valley seems better than the commute from Decatur, AL to Huntsville, Alabama. I’m looking at real estate in the Valley and like the slower pace and the more rural setting. I’ll trade the commute for going home to a nice size acre over constant foot traffic at all hours day and night in Anchorage. I’ve heard several call Anchorage Los Anchorage in the short time here. It’s going to come down to each person’s personal preference.
@@susanwright3724 Well said
I make that commute seven days a week. A few things you need to consider first. If the weather is bad or there is a wreck then that commute turns into a nightmare. There is only one way in and one way out. Also, I feel that I’m the only person who works in Wasilla. All the stores are almost always crowded. Lastly, traffic is worse in Wasilla than Anchorage. This may surprise you. Before you move to the valley, try driving around and going grocery shopping between 4-6pm.
don't let democrats... do ANYTHING in Alaska. Keep'm out.
Commuting during winter is too stressful. White knuckle all the way.
There’s a bus system called Valley Transit that goes from the Trunk Road area to downtown 6 days a week. I learned about this from some of my coworkers. That’s the option I was looking at taking if I moved to Wasilla. The bus is like a large charter bus that looks very nice. There’s info out there on the web if that’s something that would help you during the winter.
I did the valley to Anchorage commute for 2 years and it killed my mental health. Moved to Eagle River and could never go back.
@@UndertakerFromWWE I hear you. I did it six months and was almost in like three motor vehicle accidents...one involving a moose who someone hit and I was trying to get some guys with a truck to pull off the highway before the next herd of vehicles had a pile up. Phew!
Great video... I never thought about Wasilla until your narrative. I'll take a more serious look. Thank you!
@@RandyDavis2500 Thank you! I’ll have a video out in a few weeks saying why Anchorage is better, so that will give a balanced approach. 😀
great video
@@mcq2329 thank you!
Anchorage has too many communities that are not safe. Wasilla may have more wealthy residents than Anchorage. Does Wasilla have a beach front? What is the commute from Anchorage to the Mat-Su valley?
@@karmathephoenix2474 no beachfront (unless you go down KGB road) and usually commute is like 30-40 minutes.
@@alaska_realtor Thank you Jamin.
I make the commute all seven days a week. It’s about 50 minutes in good weather. Bad weather or a wreck can can easily double or triple that.
anytime I'm in Anchorage I can't wait to leave.
@@MattAK Uneventful is always the goal 😆
Why does it so windy in Wasilla? I’ve seen a lot of videos where it gets very strong wind.
@@wcoastgardener209 great question. Topography is the big thing. One of the largest contributors on this factor is the Knik glacier, which really impacts micro weather patterns by creating a lot of cool air.
It depends a lot on the where the winds are coming from. On days with southerly winds it’s usually very windy in Anchorage, but not Wasilla. If the winds are out of the northwest then the opposite is true.
What did I miss?
Isn’t there a big drug problem in that area?
I will agree and disagree. If you are outdoorsy there is a lot to do! Rivers glaciers, blueberry picking. Nature, rivers on all sides! Mountains surround Palmer. In the Spring Summer and Fall downtown Palmer has something going on everyday. Wasilla is a part of Palmer basically. The state fair is in Palmer. Pony Wheel Rides, the Reindeer Farm, Climbers everywhere. The winds are as big you say! Palmer is a tourist town, so the downfall to me is living by down town there is too much going on. Also you would think that tourists would bring more business to all business, not so much. The tourist are very directed to the downtown business and entertainment and you can't get into the events as a new business. They are very loyal to the same old businesses. The Friday Fling and The Fair, won't budge, even though they need to shake things up. With food, if you know you are grandfathered in, some give out less quality to bring more profit to your pocket, not everyone mind you! Palmer is also a dryer weather, so winter is milder. Go anywhere outside Palmer and you will find the cold. Beautiful place to live or visit!
"Absolutely loved this content! Your work is so inspiring, and I’ve already hit that subscribe button. Keep up the amazing videos! . I sent you an email-please take a look when you have time!"
@@mowsuminuramin Thank you! I’ll answer in the AM.
The reason of homelessness is realty business because people with money are investing in realty and it drives the prices high and regular people cannot pay their mortgage anymore and they lose their house and cannot keep their jobs because they dont have a place to sleep no more. So people starting to do crimes and maybe start using substances and cant even get a job no more. Who is the bad guy here?
Why do so many living quarters in remote parts of Alaska look like outdoor sheds and not homes?
I love your videos. Thinking of moving to Alaska to pursue education in trades, I am a young person and I have no skills except 6 years in customer service and a good attitude, do you think working entry level would be possible in the anchorage area as a renter without a roommate? The costs seem high but I live near a metro area in the southwest that is insanely expensive so not sure it would be much of a change except for cost of food utilities etc. how is the rental market?I’ve been scouting apartments in anchorage for a few months but I need to go out there to visits to see what the reality of the rentals are. thanks for making yours vids man I really love watching your content

I know where I know where you are here are you in Chiniak? you’re right next to the harbor and there’s a restaurant there called Henry’s and there’s a pizza place called Aquamarina. And there’s a processing place called Trident and there is a sushi restaurant called old power house. and there’s a theater OK that’s it.
