Jamin, Wasilla is looking good. I like thicker trees, by the way too.

1:31 Last time I was up there, someone told me that I had to hurry to avoid traffic and it was the funniest thing they could have said to me. So, I'm going to go sit in traffic now for almost 3 hours to move 40 miles.

Moved to Wasilla in July ‘23 and absolutely love it. Friendly people, enough businesses to support the area and Anchorage really isn’t that far away.
Once in a while you will be delayed by an accident on the highway but on the whole the road between Wasilla and Anchorage is in good shape.

Every area has its down side. Wasilla gets a lot of sunlight/daylight and the Fairview/Goose Bay area is particularly nice. Nice birch forests and pretty views across the inlet. Generally not quite as cold nearer the water, too. I'm not crazy about the congested commercial area and the way it developed. I much prefer Palmer and the way it is laid out. But there are lots of nice areas for houses around Wasilla.

agressive people that drive aggressive vehicals and exhibit anti social aggressive behavior tend to congregate in Wasilla (I think its because there is little crack down on this sort of thing with law enforcement like disturbing the peace rapid acceleration, aggressive lane changes, noise violations for vehicles, etc), look up the guy that put up all kinds of scary junk on his fence to terrorize small kids playing in their back yards, there was little legal remedy to force this guy to remove this stuff from his fense.
Also prices have skyrocketed, you can get a small house in anchorage for the same cost as only a slightly larger house in Wasilla, you no longer get the extreme aceage for the same price.

Traffic to Wasilla from Anchorage is legitimate. And only getting worse.

That's why, when I moved to the valley, I aimed to work here as well. Left Anchorage for a reason. Didn't want to go back and definitely didn't want to commute.
