Point 6, which means AK is maybe more for hermits. And yes, that's a negative aspect for those considering long friendships. Anyway good information.

Jamin, sadness is a big factor down in Texas where the environment is the same ole, same ole. Alaska may be gold mine for some of us. The darkness will be a long awaited for experience.

I have Sad's so, when it becomes dark slowly, I take vitamin D and expose myself to light. I set up things to be exposed to light, there are lights with high lumens a person can and use to get the level of serotonin. There are options one can take and yes keeping busy is also a good idea. But many may react differently than me it just depends on people and the need to assess and you sharing this information is a good way to let people know and thanks. Blessings

There are also several proven ways to combat SADs...I've been offered a position at SITKA MEDICAL CENTER...if I accept, I will take the initiative to begin a community reach out program where I can provide seminars, small talks and or provide local health care practitioners clinical information to validate everything I state and present...I will likely reach out to Jamin for insight and contact in Sitka unless he can assist me....I will be making a decision within the next 5 days...by the 25th...

(Wife typing) Jamin, my entire family LOVES your videos. My brother lives in AK, and we have toyed with the idea of relocating and what that would look like for our family.
On that note, we were wondering if you could please make a video explaining the borough system Alaska has? We understand it functions a lot like a county, but we'd love to hear especially the benefits of that sort of system and how it plays into Alaskan lifestyle. If you've already made this video and we missed it, I apologize. Thank you again!

    How crime in Whitter, AK..?

Any criminals will be living under the same roof as you considering the whole town lives in one building😂 so, close by.. and with the road and only way out (not counting by boat) closed much of the day it seems like a bad place to commit a crime if you want to actually get away with it.

    Hi Jamin,
What's your thoughts on building a home versus buying in Alaska? Would it be cheaper to build or buy? I've been looking at possibly buying a Log Home kit and getting that shipped to Alaska. Would the extra home maintenance be worth it or is it not really a viable option for Alaska? I've decided to move to Alaska and ive narrowed it down to either Fairbanks or Homer areas. I'm currently in Maine so the snow, ice and cold doesnt bother me. Im really big into Hunting, Fishing, Four Wheeling etc. Would you recommend one area over the other for someone with my hobbies? I have a buddy who lives near Homer and his family moved from Maine. He's been telling me its a lot like Maine and i should move up there.

As long as you dont have to hire ANYONE in the trades and the kit and shipper is completely out of state, even getting last mile transport in AK is a nightmare so I would suggest having the means to pick up the contents at the port. Thats the problem with AK, as soon as you need any help at all the prices just go out of sight.
We have a friend that did to this for a log house and its beautiful and he did it himself but it took him half a decade and he had another house to live in near the build site that was already paid for. Consider a modular home that can be dropped into place with everything already done to live in while you do this build, even then get ready for 5 figures just for a basic concrete pad and another several 5 figures if you need the land cleared and leveled. 5 figures for a well and septic, 5 figures to have power dropped in (depending how close you are to a power pole).
We need some monicer for Alaska that includes drop another 10 grand lol. Its disgusting, however states like Cali are similar and why so many businesses are leaving these places.

@@ronpearson1912 I was looking at the kits and some of them include building it on site in the price. I've wondered if that is the route to go. Otherwise, I'd get just a Post and Beam house and take the easy road because those are shipped by barge from my understanding then transported by truck to the land. I realize it's going to be expensive. I'm also considering the option of doing it peace by peace. Clearing the land myself then paying for water, sewer, electricity then work on buying the log home kit versus doing it all at once.

@@ronpearson1912 when I first come up, I'm going to have a camper or motorhome to live in. I know it's not the best but I figured it's better than renting because I've looked at rentals and there seems to be slim pickings as far as rentals go both around Homer and Fairbanks.
