Hi, I’m Hazuki (they/them)!
I love figure skating and editing videos, and I’ve been skating in my Snow White Inline Figure Skates for two years now. I’m mostly self-taught and I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned along the way! I make informative videos about skating in and maintaining artistic inline skates (and also sometimes some less helpful videos about skating ;p).
Feel free to ask me questions in the comments, over email, or through Instagram DMs, I'm here to help as best as I can!

A Week in the Life of a Self-Taught Inline Figure Skater

Ahh, the messy, chaotic, and mildly confusing week in the life of an inline figure skater. From knee injuries to getting sick from stress, here was my past week condensed into a few minutes. I'll post the car-talking thingy in a few days btw :) Just wanna space apart my uploads a little ❄︎❄︎❄︎❄︎❄︎ The stretch video I followed at some point in the week; ruclips.net/video/N1JE9j5Hiho/видео.html C...

Figure Skating Stretches for Studying
Love your tutorials. I am teaching myself how to figure skate. I suck! (Right now) would you be willing to share links if those videos that helped you..
Today I was ice skating in new skates and the rink gaur said to like not do tricks going backwards like catch foot spiral. Stuff like that. So. I did a y-spiral. Going forwards. I fell. I’m in pain.
Not easy, great lesson. Great job on the filming of your journey and editing!
Status and inline skates are really fun
Thanks so much!
I have almost 10 mm difference between the first and the second wheel. Is this normal for the Pic Skates? 4 mm is already a lot.
Hii, so I've been using those regular inline skates and I rlly wanna get the artistic ones but I don't know what type of skates that are suitable for begginers who have js started🫶
This is so helpful and informative!! I am a quad skater and recently thrifted a pair of GH off-ice inline plates. I was so confused why the wheels weren't flush to the ground and didn't realize how different they are to roller blade inlines.
Does anyone know about the Jackson frames? They are like $200
Heyyy, this video is so informative and really helpful!! I'm a bit confused on the guidline you gave, where should I be measuring the 5cm to? Is it the bottom on the wheel or in line with the bottom of the frame?
what about the Jackson Atom Mirage Inline frame? Are they good? Because snowwhite etc are even more expensive 😭😭
Your channel is great! Thanks. I struggle a lot which one to buy, inline or quad skates. I wanna do the opposite direction as you practice from ice-skate to inline skate. I hope I learn inline skate smart so to help me a lot in learning ice-skate. Can anyone confirm to me that, will practising smart inline skate end up in amazing ice skating improvements? 😅
❤❤❤so the toe stop doesnt help spin??? Its better to have a rocker???
girl have you ever tried artistic quad skating i feel like you'd have a waaaaayyyy better time, the quad base gives you more stability and doing edges is much much easier therefore what you can do on top of them can be more refined and you can put together some really pretty step sequences, bc let's be honest what you can do off ice on inline is limited, not having the glide that the ice provides sucks and make things like carving edges, twizzles and 3 turns much harder. So we're not putting out any breathe taking pieces anytime soon, yes people do it an compete in inlines, but they always look wobbly and i don't even wanna imagine the amount of pain they had to endure to learn that, but with a quad skates the truck has movement, when you press on the inside edge for example, the inside wheels come closer so you can do very closed curves or really carve an edge all without loosing stability bc of the quad surface
I am going to buy either a quad skate or an inline skate; I am still not sure exactly because of the concern you have just outlined. My objective is to practise ice-skate off-ice rink (if the rinks are closed). Though many people promote to me inline skates, I find the limit of inline skates that you've highlighted. Yet, I watched videos of competitions in figure skating on both inline and quad skates just as well. I also watched videos of quad-skaters practising edging and turns that amazed me a lot. I mentally struggle a lot. I wanna try the amazing edging and turns as the quad-skaters do; yet, quad skates really don't look like ice-skates; I worry that I will feel sorry if I buy inline skates. But quad-skates really do not look like ice-skates. They are more different from ice skates. Inline skates look more similar to ice-skates.
@@wlchan7211 on inlines edges are hard my advice is really turn your upper body, like a lot, to go to where you wanna go, not just lean your body to the outside edge otherwise your ankle will roll over, and be ready to use and abuse of your toe stop, also get comfortable with the idea of lifting the back and middle wheels off the ground and spinning on your front wheel a lot if you can master all of this you'll extract a lot of agility from you inline skates, also, watch videos of inline figure skating comps in 0.25 speed and pay attention to their movements, how much they use the toe stop, how they place their edges and so on, it's eye opening. Now with quads anything that requires balancing will be easier, so camels for example are a breeze to do or anything in one foot will be easier, but be aware that because on quads the back wheels end before your heels do, the chances of falling backwards are higher and also one foot spins are harder on quads, or at least I find easier to spin on inlines, but two feet spins are easier on quads though 😆 I like both think they are good cross training for each other, whenever I spend one week training just inline I feel like I come back stronger and more confident to quad, and vice-versa so I'd say buy both if you can and you'll enjoy them each has its strengths and weakness, but if you can only buy one and you just wanna train off-ice then go with inlines it will be much more similar to ice although keep in mind it's still very different from ice, just less different then quads
@@nekohuntress99 great advice from you! thanks a lot. I am expecting to have the off-ice training to improve ice-skating skills but not the other direction. Off- ice training will be much auxiliary; but off- ice training will let me have easier places to go. I will have more flexible to plan my schedule (I can suddenly go out to skate even though it is late and ice rink has closed).
@@nekohuntress99 I have just ordered a pair of quad stakes - my final decision. I do not want to face the strange challenges from inline skates.
@@wlchan7211 hope you like it, it's definitely a fun adventure but at least when it comes to quad you can find more guidance online then with inlines sadly. And also it's easier to find artistic quad skatings clubs to have a face to face coaching then it is to find inline clubs so hopefully you won't run flat on ways to find help learning how to master your new skates, I hope you got a good pair of artistic quad skates, they are a bit expensive but they will last you almost forever and you can mount then to ice skating boots to feel more at home and as the boot wears out you just need to buy a new boot, and the artistic trunks are both strong to support jumps and lightweight to allow to better jumps and more tricks without you feeling like you're carrying bricks on your feet lol but I also hope you can purchase inline skates in the future so you can experience both, it's a fun challenge. if you're interested you can find BE&VE frames on AliExpress for very cheap but then you will have to buy the wheels and put the middle ones one size bigger to create a rocket bc this frame doesn't come with integrated rocker so you'll have to create it by putting a bigger middle wheels and you will also have to buy the toe stop, the screws, bearings, spaces for the bearings, the boot and attach the frame to the boot yourself, but at least it will be cheaper in the end then buying a pair of snow whites for example with the boots and everything already mounted or you can go with the Jackson mirage frame if you're in north america I believe they are very easy to find and you can buy them already fully assembled and mounted to a Jackson boot and they are of really good quality it's a nice inline frame.
How do you take off the toe stop to replace to another one ?
How do you take the toe stop off?
update : i figured it out
I get my inlines in 2 days! The wait is horrible🥲😂 I just hit my 6 months mark in figure skating (ice), and I wanted inlines to have fun on over the summer. The rink is closed for a good 3 months, maybe more😭I'm getting the Jackson Ultima Elle Fusion inline figure skates, and while I'm definitely expecting a big change, I'm also hoping I'll figure it out relativly quickly. I progressed fast in the last 6 months on ice, going from 0 experience to doding waltz jump, salchow and toe loop quite easily. It needs finetuning and practice, but my coach says I'm doing it correctly so far. Anyways, I'm rambling; thank you for these videos! I can't wait to not have to bike for 30 minutes to skate🥴😍
I’m 46 almost 47 and I just started this type of skating 3 months ago.
as a late 30s inline skater, who's last been on ice skates >20 years ago, those toe stoppers look terrifying to me. but i'd love to see what a figure skater could pull off on rockered argessive skates. on wheel durability: hyper wheels have an impeckable reputation since the 90s, and live up to it to this day. i'd think hyper hockey wheels, that are ment to somewhat mimic ice skates, could be s great choice. (no, i'm not sponsired. but if anybody has tried those for dry land figure skating, i'm curious how it turned out.)
does anyone know, it there is a rule about competing at the World/European competitions using 4 wheels in line skates? Who has the Off ice?
Reccently got some inlines for my job at sonic, the reason is because I am simply used to ice skates. Ohh boy, these feel sooo diffrent, Im not sure ill be able to use them😅
As someone whose been enjoying your channel I do have a critic. So spinning out isn’t borderline personality disorder is bipolar disorder type 1 (WHICH IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT) and it’s really bothersome when people confuse them. As someone who is bipolar I LOVE spinning out. It’s the first time I saw bipolar as something other than a joke or a villain and I loved that the two characters with bipolar disorder behave differently and how mania and obsessive compulsions interact with sports and can become a hyper fixation in an unhealthy way. It really accurately portrayed the fallout that comes after you come down from a manic episode and how it can damage the relationships around you. I totally understand why someone might not like it but if your main complaint is the mental illness aspect you could at least make sure you’re talking about the right mental illness.
You don’t need a break on toe for street. Four wheels are more reliable than tri on the ground.
It helps me! I have "normal skates and do figureskating on them amd it is getting pretty hard
no nieźle :-]
I heard some people had deep edge regression on skates when switching to inlines. I moved somewhere with no rink for hours and will definitely be trying these tips! I feel I’m already regressing a lot with no ice after a year, so I’d love to hear others experiences. I’ve also heard a lot of positive things, like it improving technique in other respects.
I'm also the person at the rink who falls a lot 😭 maybe everyone else needs to fall *more*
people have came up and told me things like "are you alright? I've seen you falling a lot" and I didn't even notice
This is so motivational! I’m going to get flexible and when I get to this point in the far future I’ll practice it skating forwards lol and then I’d like to do a Y spin! 😀 Thanks for being so awesome and nice! I really enjoy your videos.
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and inspiring others to try this fun sport. You’re really bringing the inline community forward. Could you please share the brand of wheels you’re using? I haven’t started skating yet, I’m still attempting to do spins on the edea e-spinner but I’ve always wanted black wheels instead of the speedmax ones. One day when I’m decent and have worn through my several backup pairs of speedmaxes that I bought with my snow whites, I’ll upgrade to the ice fly edeas and white horse frames with black wheels 😎😁
Possible to chance the frames for quads for these inline frames?
I gotta say thank youuuu I really needed this😍😍😍
can you make a jump tutorial? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great video! I am an ice skater and I am thinking on buying off ice skates to be able to practice during the summer. Your way to communicate it's nice and the information you pass is really good! Thanks :)
I have Jackson mystique skates and I was wondering which ones I could use
Hello! I would like to ask, is it possible to do jumps and spins on inline figure skates without a toe stop? Also, I've been wondering is there a difference in Inline figure skates and regular/freestyle Inline skates? And tbh, I've been wanting to do figure skating for the longest time; but sadly the nearest Ice rink in our country is a 6 hour plane ride. So I've been thinking of using incline skates instead but I don't quite know which brand and pair work best for figure skating. And since 100 USD is practically a lot (and I mean A LOT) here in our country, I've been trying to look for a slightly cheaper pair of skates to buy. WHOO Sorry to dump that all on you! I've just been really wanting to finally skate (preferably figure skate)! And doing so seems so difficult no matter how I think about it. Anyways, thank you soo much for the video!! EDIT: I checked out some of the inline figure skating brands and I'm considering PIC; but there's a problem, and that every inline figure skates brand that I've clicked on won't load. Idk why though, it loads completely fine on other apps or websites. It might be a restriction in my country I guess. Though I don't know why they'd want to restrict inline figure skates specifically.
Do you need that stopper in the front`? is it possible to complete this without the stopper/brake attached in front?
PLEASE POST MORE
I love your figure skating videos, you’re the only person I’ve found on the internet who makes tutorials for inline figure skating, I hope you consider making them again!!!!!🥺❤️
Hi what about the jacson ultima inline frames? I saw them are they good?
what brand is these rollerblades? Highly in need of recommendations
You can also create a rocker on rollerblades for cheap by buying smaller wheels and putting them on the front and back axles, which lets you do three turns Great video!
Hi what kind of socks do you have on friend
Thanks you amazing 🫶
But why are the inlines so expensive. I have Jackson artiste ice skates. Cost was 170€ I found Jackson mystics with I think snow whites frame and the price is 250....
For one, I’d love to see the ‘learn to skate program’ on inlines and be able to transfer skills onto ice and off ice too. Maybe just watching one video of say the skill on ice and the skill on land then a comparison like ‘remember not to lean as far on x as you will fall’ or something! So I can learn the skills on land or ice? I have brought both and I’m eager to get out and practice! For two, I love your videos and answers you seem like my type of person! But even just learning and practicing forward, backward, edges, swizzles, and half swizzles in a circle, crossovers forward and back etc, things that you can reasonably do in both that aren’t much different in the technique (my coordination is not all there😂) but not taking into account the physical elements of the blade/wheels and terrain if that made any sense??🙈
Gosh i wish i could've done a learn to skate for inlines!😂 (definetly would've saved me tones of bruises from falling all the time haha) I'm a little apprehensive to teach LTS elements and skills though since they're foundational to everything in skating and since I'm self taught, I know my technique is pretty rough around the edges😵💫 i would say that as far as my experience goes, edges and glides are really similar across ice and inline, and often have the same pointers: bend your knees, don't lean towards the pick or you'll stub the ice/pavement, etc
Do you ice skate and in-line skate? I’ve been soo inactive for years, my adhd brain is like YES LETS LEARN BOTH!!! So some ice tutorials and things to practice on land for ice skating would be AMAZING help! X
Yup, i do both! I tend to focus on one over the other in accordance to the seasons (in winter when ice is abundant, i tend not to inline, and in summer when pavement is much easier to access than ice, I don't ice skate at all). For the most part, a lot of basic skills are transferable, so when i learned single-foot slaloms on inlines, when winter rolled around, i was a lot better at on-ice single foot slaloms and general edge control. For ice tutorials though, I recommend Coach Michelle Hong and Coach Mary Figure Skating on RUclips, they're both wonderful resources!
I ve got snow white as well… I m a ice skater and for me is pretty hard to skate on Wheels with snow white Blades are too short and I cannot find thé point for spins I would try off ice skates
🥰👍
I know this is like a year old but would be cool if you was to reply. I did gymnastics competitively from when I was 3 to 11. I have great balance and coordination, which helps for both ice skating and roller skating (inline). Although, you mentioned not to put too much pressure on the back of the roller blade, when I spin on inlines I spin on my heel. How can I change this habit? And do I need to change it?
Shoot, my bad, I should've phrased it a little better! There are definitely elements and skills that require weight on your back wheel like a two foot spin. I mostly meant while working on backwards and forwards edges, if you're relying too heavily on the back wheel, it might slip out from under you and make you fall on your tailbone (which i can attest from personal experience is very un-fun😭) I don't know what your skating looks like so i can't say whether it's a habit you should change or not, but so long as you're not routinely falling backwards from expecting the wheel edge to extend past your heel, i think you should be okay! As for the spin, it's mostly under the assumption that a two foot spin is being used to progress to a single foot spin on the toe, so slowly taking weight off the heel makes you more prepared to balance your full weight on the front wheel and toe stop. If you're working to polish/perfect a two foot spin or working to be able to spin on your back wheel, there's no need to take weight off the heel. Sorry for the confusion!
@@Hazook thank you! (Sorry only just seen this!). I’m happy to say that I don’t often fall backwards so I guess that is a good sign.
